MacBook Pro :: Screen Blank After Loading Ram

Mar 25, 2012

I'm trying to upgrade to LION to move to iCloud...the folks at the genius bar recommended that I go from 2gb ram to 4. They gave me the website to purchase the memory and told me how to load it. Prior to loading, I shutdown the computer and unplugged it. I then removed the 2 1 gb cards  and replaced with 2gb cards. The loading seems to have gone fine, but all I get is a power light on the front of the case and a sound that makes me think it's running....the screen is totallly black though.

OS X :: Webpage Not Loading?

Oct 20, 2010

I have recently switched most of the company I work for from PC to Mac. I have been having reports that [URL] will not load most of the time and when it does there are no graphics.

I have checked this on three different machines all with 10.6.4 using Safari, Chrome, and FireFox (one 27" iMac, one new mini, and one 15" MBP). They all act the same. Either the site times out and is not loaded at all or it loads in really large blue fonts that are all squished to the left of the browser window. The main thing these machines have in common is that they all have Parallels installed with Windows 7 installed. Two have Parallels v5 and the iMac has v6.

Initially I thought it was our ISP, BUT if you try it on any other mac that does not have parallels installed the site works fine in all three browsers. Also if you launch a browser in windows inside Parallels the site loads up correctly.

All other sites that are visited seem to be working fine on these same machines.

I have checked DNS and all seems well. All machines on the network (PC and Mac) are using the same DNS servers. All PC's work fine regardless of the browser used.

ITunes :: Webpage Opens As Blank

Mar 18, 2012

I have been trying to open a web page on a site I have visited with no trouble before, but all I get is a blank, white page instead of the news article that it linked. Others are able to get the article, but I just get a blank page. I've tried using Safari, Camino, and Firefox, and all give me the same non-result. Could this be something to do with the Safari update I installed this morning??

It's just the one website that won't open for me [URL] -all its pages come up as blank...

OS X :: Safari, Every Webpage Works. But, Randomly Loads Up Blank?

Dec 12, 2010

When I open up safari, every webpage works. But, randomly www.--------.net loads up blank. Reloading does not help either. Every other page works still. The only way I can fix it is to force quit safari and then reload the program...I have tried deleting the com.apple.safari.plist and the only extension I use is LastPass.

OS X :: IWEB And Publishing Webpage - Hit Publish Button - Never End Loading

Jul 27, 2009

I've had my macbook for almost a year and just recently used iweb to try to start my webpage. I've never built a webpage either, so I'm pretty new at all of this. I have a domain thru [URL] and I put together a home page and tried publishing it multiple times. When I hit the publish button on iweb it loads and loads and loads and loads and never ends. Not sure if it's on the iweb or godaddy side that isn't allowing it to load.

Safari :: Its Loading Blank Pages?

Apr 24, 2012

Since the latest update i can't load any pages in safari.  The apple start page only loads a shortened version of the main page and then if i click on anything else nothing shows up.  When i go to different websites i can see the title at the top of the page and sometimes the page even flashes to what the content is before going blank or green or whatever the background color that site has set. If i go to preferences and uncheck "enable javascript" i can get pages to load but its almost useless as i can't do much without it enabled, such as use my gmail, etc.  Any ideas what could be causing this? I've run the flashback tool and that virus is not found.  I've removed all extensions and reset cookies, reset safari and still nothing. If i use firefox i have no issues whatsoever so i'm not sure why safari is having issues.

OS X :: Webpage Loading Very Slow / Slow Internet Or CPU Speed?

Oct 30, 2010

Is there a way to tell which one is slow, if anything is going slow? I have an extremely old PC which is normally ok for most things, but gets bogged down if I am doing too many things.I was so annoyed with our national real estate site after they changed the format that I wrote a letter once a long time ago.. and I was ready to let them have it again, listing all the reasons why it is so bad and so much worse than the original.

Today for the first time, I accessed the site (mls.ca) using my new iMac. It was like lightening speed, comparatively speaking.Wow, suddenly I knew why the mls people hadn't changed their new format. But then I started going to other sites.. like airmiles.ca for example, and it was slow as heck... and stalling.. etc.
How would I be able to tell whether it is an internet slowness or the computer being slow?

MacBook :: Screen Changes Brightness Randomly / Screen Suddenly Become Little Dimmer

Jan 19, 2009

lately, my mba has been behaving a little weirdly. its screen would suddenly become a little dimmer when the brightness in the room has not changed a bit. after a long while(15 min?), it'll turn brighter again by itself, and again without any change in the lighting of the room. the change is not big but obviously. any idea? can it be some software? or setting? or a defective light sensor?

MacBook Air :: Screen Gets Blank - Need To Restart

Dec 21, 2010

Got this mac friday but haven't really played with it before yesterday. My problem is:

1) Yesterday I went for logging in to facebook, but suddenly the screen went green? Had to close the mac down and start it again.
2) After I had turned it on and was on the desktop the screen (with me doing nothing) went white, and I had to do the same again.
3) This morning when I wanted to turn the mac on, it wouldn't! But few hours later I tried again and there I could turn it on by pressing esc + start button.

Should I call for a replacement? (Already had two - 1 with dead pixel and 1 with creaking).

MacBook Pro :: Blank Screen - Hiccup?

Jan 1, 2011

I was using it in my bedroom, it was plugged in. I went to make some food, and upon my return I am greeted by a blank screen, probably just a hiccup right? So I held the power button down expecting it to spring back in to life. But it didn't. It wouldn't turn back on. At all. Luckily, I thought, I have my old 2006 Macbook that I keep as a back up just for times like this. As it hasn't been turned on for a while, the low battery warning comes on, so I plug it in. 10 seconds later, it hibernates. I switch it back on, but it keeps hibernating for no good reason. So I think restarting it will solve the problem. It didn't. It too, now wouldn't turn back on. At all.

In the space of a few minutes, they both completely died. I've tried resetting SMC, PRAM, everything I've found on Apple's support page and forums like this. Nothing has worked. The light on the power cable glows orange when plugged in, so it is still charging, and the battery indicator lights on the side of the MBP work fine. Aside from that, they are both completely lifeless...........

MacBook Pro :: Blank Screen On 2008

Jul 2, 2009

when I turn on my computer there is a blank screen. You can still hear the normal noises coming from the computer like any normal boot-up. But if I let my computer sit for a while without turning it on, it will turn on with weird almost static noises. If I force shut down then try again, I get the normal boot-up noises. I tried the safe boot-up method, holding down the shift button while turning the computer on, but no dice. I actually tried this method on both the good and static noise boot-up.

MacBook Pro :: Screen Goes Black Suddenly

May 29, 2012

I bought my 2.66 GHz Intel Core i7 machine back in May of 2010 and have been very happy with it until I put OSX Lion 10.7. Now I regularly get Black Screens Of Death when the screen just goes black and I have to restart the machine. With the amount of bug traces my machine has been generating to Apple I would have thought this issue should have been sorted out. What did they do in Lion which is so different from Leopard and why haven't they sorted this out? If this continues then unfortunately I may have to consider moving back to Windows as I can't work like this. I've got GfxCardStatus running with Integrated Graphics but this means I can use my Apple Cinema Display.

OS X V10.7 Lion :: Why Doesn't Webpage Fill The Screen

Apr 30, 2012

I just bought the latest MacBook Pro with Lion 10.7.3 in Australia last month. I use firefox but am having trouble reading as the total screen isn't being utilised  I use [URL] as a home page but it does not fill the screen and it hard to read. I was just in the Apple store and an employee there said she was having the same issue..

The Control 2 finger gesture makes it bigger but doesn't get rid of what look like  large margins. I have tried the pinch gesture but maybe I am not using the correct technique as nothing happens...

I tried adding a screen shot by dragging a dropping but that didn't work Finally, I don't know which forum is best: Lion or MacBook Pro...

MacBook Pro :: Cannot Boot - Sits On Blank Screen

Jan 30, 2009

I'm trying to fix my GF's Macbook Pro. This thing since day 1 has had so many little issues she's replacing it with a Dell. Anyhow, I want to try to fix the computer and I'm very good with computer hardware, just not familiar with troubleshooting Macs. The computer when turned on doesn't make a sound, it just sits at a blank screen with the power LED on the front lit solid. I have tried resetting the PRAM, resetting the SMC, and reseating the memory. I even swapped the memory.

It's the same behavior each time, just sits there, nothing comes on the screen. No noises. It does get quite warm sitting there powered on, though not obscenely hot. I can power it off with the power button as well. I have heard of trying to boot off of the restore CD or something but I feel that won't work and the problem is most likely hardware related. Nothing strange happened before this computer stopped working. It was not dropped, no water, or anything like that.

Specs are the machine is as follows:
15" Macbook Pro 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2GB, 128MB VRAM, 120GB 5400 RPM Drive
