MacBook Pro :: What Type Of Memory Would Be The Best For 13" Mid 2010
May 7, 2012
I have a Mid 2010 13" Macbook Pro and I'm going to upgrade my RAM. I know I can upgrade up to 8GB of RAM, but I was wondering what is the best "brand" and what website I should buy it from. For example, eBay, NewEgg, Amazon / PNY, Crucial, etc?

I've just come across this product at belkin. A 16 GB solid state drive, that flush fits in the express-port of the MBP.
Does this mean, that you can use this as a typical SSD if it is left in the port at all does? Running apps and stuff directly from this? Or is it just a fast type of memory-stick?

I have MBP that has 2x 2G DDR3 1067MHz memory installed on it, I would like to upgrade them to 2x 4G, but I'm not sure what to buy. are memories for Macs, Mac specific? or I can use any standard laptop RAM?

Can all versions of the iBook G4 12" use PC2700 RAM? Even the 800GHz and 1.0 GHz models? I know you're supposed to use PC2100 in them, but the PC2700 is so much less expensive than the PC2100 right now.

I have a 2010 Mac Pro, 2x2.4ghz Quad-Core Intel Xeon. There is a currently 6gb of RAM installed, and two open slots: url...I'm looking at purchasing either an 8gb or 16gb module from here: url...Will one of those modules work fine with what is currently installed in my computer? Would it be worth doing two 8gb modules rather than one 16gb? This would be cheaper but not sure how performance would compare.

I plan on buying third party ram for the new Mac Pro. I want to have a minimum of 12GB of ram, possibly up to 24GB. How would you configure it, and is the sweet spot 12, 18, or 24, and not 16?

Currently have 4GB of ram in the iMac.
What would 8GB do with regards to performance within OSX and Win7 64Bit
The iMac is a i3 3.2GHZ
I play SC2 and TF2 in OSX and Win7.
I can get this [URL]
so i'll keep the 2 x 2GB already in the machine and just add another 2 x 2GB sticks for 50
Or am I wasting my money ?

I have a mid 2010 Mac mini connected to my TV for use primarily for Internet radio and video and I also recently bought a mid 2011 Mac mini to replace my 2007 iMac after its LCD panel went south. The 2011 system report shows 1333 MHz DDR3 memory whereas the 2010 shows 1067 MHz DDR3 memory. I am thinking to upgrade the 2011 from 4 GB to 8 GB and swap out the 2 GB in the 2010 for the 4 GB from the 2011. Will the 1333 MHz DDR3 memory from the 2011 work in the 2010?

I use my Mid 2010 iMac for virtualizing routers. I noticed that with the 4gb of RAM that was already installed in the iMac was not enough. So, I did some research and found out that, my iMac can hold up to 16gb of RAM. I did some more research and found out how to replace the memory in my iMac. Then, I went to Micro Center and bought 16gb of RAM and brought it back to my apartment. Now, I powered off my iMac and unplugged the power cord, flipped the iMac upside down and unscrewed the three screws that were holding the memory cover on. After removing the memory cover, and pulling back the memory tabs/flaps, I shined a light down in the memory slots and found one memory slot that looked damaged. I was not completely sure, so I went ahead and removed the old memory by pulling hard on the memory tabs/flaps, and the memory was unseated.
I remove the memory and replace it with four, 4gb sticks of memory. Once I powered on the iMac, a memory beep sounded off. So, I unplugged the power cord from the iMac and removed two of the four memory sticks out of the iMac. The two sticks of memory I removed was out of BANK 0/DIMM0 and BANK 1/DIMM0. BANK 0/DIMM0, is the one that is damaged and my hardware warranty has expired. I bought this iMac damage, and now it won’t support 16gb of memory. What should I do? By the way, the other 8gb of memory in the other two BANKs are working.
Info:
iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Memory BANK 0/DIMM0 is bac

I have an iPad 32GB WiFi and a MacBook Pro as well so I was trying very hard to justify myself in getting an 11" MBA but ending up talking myself out of it. The 13" MBP is perfect for my uses. It's already lightweight and portable as it is. After playing with the 11" in the Apple store, I was impressed on how light it was. This no doubt blows away any netbook or any notebook in it's weight class in terms of size and performance. However, the MBP's battery life, hard drive space, and processing power OUTWEIGHS the reasons of dumping my 13" MBP for the Air. Also, I have it hooked up to a 21.5 Inch HP monitor at home and it's good enough to use as a main computer at home, and light enough to take on the road.
If I needed to lookup something quickly in bed or around the house, that's where the iPad comes in. If I needed to send a quick e-mail, my HTC Evo is already great at doing that. If I didn't have a 13" MBP or even the iPad, I would have most likely went ahead and purchased the MBA. Just now at this point, spending another $1000+ or getting rid of my MBP doesn't make much sense... yet.

I've been lurking MacRumors ever since 'the wait for Arrandale' began and finally decided to sign up now so I could post this thread. I've been a Windows user for a long time now and I have a Win7 rig at home. However, I'll be going to uni later this year so I need a good portable notebook that's suitable for the common mailing 'n surfing, but also for doing some programming in Eclipse (Java) and PHP work etc. I still have my Win7 box at home for gaming and things that require larger screensize, but for the notebook... I feel really attracted to OSX with a MBP.
It will be my first Mac, but my desktop dualboots with OSX and I love it. So that's why I have decided that my school notebook will be a Mac. This is why I have been closely watching the rumors for the new MBPs and ofcourse I was pretty disappointed when I saw that the 13" model still had a C2D cpu... It's not that I need a beefed up CPU in my notebook (... I have a 3.6 GHz quad at home ), but it feels 'wrong' to buy a MBP 13": even the 2009 MacBook has a C2D, so what will the MB 2010 update bring? Is it really worth the extra money? Anyone with a similar situation?

I have a iMac DV G3/500 (Special Edition) from summer 2000. Anyway, I am using Mac OS 10.2.8. Recently, my start up disk's memory has gone done from 1.2 GB available free space to 668MB (currently). I haven't saved anything on this disk so I can not understand why this memory has dissappeared. I have also had icons on the start up menu disappear. Could someone please tell me how I can restore the missing memory?

I just bought a early 2009 MAC Pro and it came with 3GB of RAM, I ordered 3 2GB sticks of memory to replace the 3 1GB sticks that I had in there from Kingston. I turned off the unit, I popped the little levers and pulled the memory out of slot 1, 2, 3 and then replaced the memory with the new Kingston in slot 1, 2, 3
One of the sticks in is not working at all and I get the RED LED light no matter what slot I move that chip to. So I am running on 2 of the new Kingston memory chips.
Can I mix the memory and add the 1GB into slot 3 and 4 with slot 1 and 2 full of 2GB chips?
Also how to I run the memory utility again? I went to /system/Library/CoreServices/ and then I see the program Memory Slot Utility.app
How do I run this? I'm used to no spaces and I type ./then program name

When I try to type my password and hit enter/return I get an alert sound then nothing. Nothing about wrong password. Even more rare all of a sudden all I can type are symbols so I'm assuming this is what happens when I try to type my password to wake from sleep. I have to do a hard reboot before I can type in my password. I've re-installed Snow Leopard and updates. Tried deleting some preferences.
It's still happening. Anybody got any ideas? I've searching for similar problems. Can't even find a command that changes the entire keyboard layout to symbols only. I'm running 10.6.4 on a Macbook Pro.

My Macbook(bought last year) just crashed and I had to turn it off by holding down the power button. Now after I turn it back on, it takes a really long time to load and when I get to the login, I can't type my password in the box. I can still move the pointer around, but can't click anything with the trackpad. I've also tried an external usb keyboard but that also doesn't work.
