MacBook Pro :: When Start To Stream A Tv Show From ITunes Via Home Sharing It Will Play Just For Few Minutes?
Apr 9, 2012
I have a iMac as our main computer which has the main iTunes account. I have a ethernet connection off a Time Capsule/Air Play Wireless to that. I just got a Apple TV 2 and that has been working nearly seamlessly via a wireless connect from the Time Capsule The problem is with the Mac Book Pro (early 2011, 17", 2.2 ghz Intel Core i7, 8GB DDR3, AMD radeon HD 6750 1024 MB Graphics, all updated on all software)What my twist is that when I start to stream a tv show from iTunes via home sharing it will play for 5-20 min and then just stop and return to the main iTunes menu This occurs on TV Shows purchased from Apple, From DVD's I have ripped with HandBrake and Bit Torrents I have also ripped with HandBrake (Into Apple TV 2 format) I've read over and over the Apple suggested trouble shooting. The only non Apple product/software in the mix is Norton for Mac on the Mac Book and the iMac however I have turned off the Firewall on that as well as experimented with turning on and off the Mac Firewall I have a older router from my ISP however the Apple TV is working fine so I *think* that has been elminatedÂ
Info:
MacBook Pro (17-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
My computer is stating up very slow it take over five minutes to get the menu to show and over ten to start safari i have already cleaned out the history, cookies, caches and random files I no longer need what do I do next?
I am trying to set up my home network to have the iMac share its' media library via iTunes, and access that media on other devices in the home. I would like to use iTunes Music Sharing, which is a very simple setup on the iMac and doesn't require any Apple ID to be entered on the devices accessing the shared library. However, I have found that the iPhone and iPad will not even see the shared media library when the iMac is set up to share its' library.Â
Only when I enable Home Sharing on the iMac, and configure Home Sharing on the iPhone and iPad, do I see the shared library available on those devices.Â
I would like to allow other family members in the household to access the shared media library without requiring them to have my Apple ID and password. iTunes Music Sharing is supposed to allow this.Â
Does iTunes Music Sharing not work when trying to share to an iPhone or iPad?Â
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Using iTunes 10.6.3 (25) on iMac
I use to be able to do home sharing with my little brother, but for some reason now they wont connect. i go up to the top on both computers and click "turn on home sharing" and now it doesn't connect but it turns on.
I have myself a 2010 macbook. go me. My friend here has an Acer (pc). We both have itunes (go us). I want to share my library with her because I've got like 5,000 songs that she wants. WELL. I can see her library on my mac but she cant see my library on her pc. Did I not do something right here? We're using home sharing. So she's technically on my account but I cant seem to be able to get her to see my library. I've check the firewall on both. I've checked everything. What do I do?
how long it will take roughly to transfer music from mac book to imac via home sharing - I have about 17GB and so far it seems to be transferring one song about every 2-3 mins . is that normal?
Some songs on my iPhone 5S are showing up in iTunes (when I view the iPhone in iTunes) as a song and a s a stream.Pretty sure these were all downloaded from iTunes using my iPhone.I unchecked Sync music, sync’d then rechecked Sync music but, alas, the songs stay. I only see one song when I view them in Music app on the directly iPhone.Â
Audiobooks no longer play on any device that I have: ipods, MacBook, iphone... The first 5 minutes or so play and then the track completely stops. The behaviour is slightly different on different devices. On the MacBook, an audiobook plays for around 5 minutes and then skips on to the next book.
On the iPods, an audiobook plays for around 5 minutes and then just stops. On the iPhone the volume stops after around 5 mins though the track keeps playing forwards. This must be a problem with the iTunes 10.6.3 software?
Home Sharing sounds simple enough. Has anyone got this to work? I have searched for documentation on how to set this up and Apple has only made a video mentioning how to do this. It is vague though and doesn't explain the context for set up. http://www.apple.com/itunes/how-to/#video-started
For example. Does Home Sharing only work with one account? What if I have an iTunes account and my Wife has an account, does one of us lose all of our content when we share? You are supposed to be able to transfer content among all local shares. What happens next? Do I need to authorize each file to work on another computer/iPhone/Touch? I have not gone all the way with setting up Home Sharing as I don't want to go down a long path and be stuck at the end.
Has anybody else tried to use this feature? Here is the info: My notebook runs XP Pro 32bit and my desktop runs 7 Pro RTM 64bit. After I enter my iTunes account information for Home Sharing, the icon for it goes away. I have tried this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2972 and it still didn't work. I know, but I wanted to unload all my iTunes music to my desktop.
I think this feature is really cool with sharing between family computers in the house. My question however is can I share it between my computer in one state and my home computer in a different state so that while I am at hotels or on the road I can access them through the internet.
I just replaced my old MBP with a new i7, everything is working save for this (so far). I de-authorized the old machine, authorized the new one, selected home sharing, mounted machines in both directions, opened iTunes on both machines. On both machines I get this message (see attached). Problem is I can't see where to achieve this. I went to security and turned off the OS Firewall on both boxes, and have no 3rd party FW app. Is there a place to "allow communication on port 3689"?
Is there anyway to limit what is and is not shared on home sharing (in iTunes)? My roommates keep swiping my ringtones, and it psyches me out when I hear my custom tone and it's not my phone doing it. I don't mind sharing music and videos, but I'd like to keep my ringtones to myself.
Since iTunes 9 came out the improved Home Sharing features has been quite useful to me, but today when I re-formatted my computer I ran into some problems. Both computers are using Windows XP, one is connected via Ethernet and the other one--which I reformatted, let's call it Computer B--connects to the router wirelessly.
I have activated each computer for Home Sharing properly but from Computer B, I can't access Computer A's library. On Computer A, I can access Computer B's shared library and listen to music as normal, at least for a moment - after being connected to the library for a period of about two minutes, it will suddenly disconnect itself and the icon will disappear so I am unable to reconnect. It's strange how I can connect to the library perfectly and just out of nowhere it will disconnect.
I am trying to use Home Sharing between my iMac and a Windows Laptop. I have setup home sharing on each computer, but for some reason i can only see shared icon in my iMac iTunes library. On my Windows Latoptop the shared icon is not visible in the left hand pane. I have tried Authorising both computers, deauthorising both computers. Turning on, then off home sharing on each computer. I can still only see my laptops library on my IMac. When I really want to see my iMac's library on my laptop, as I am using my laptop for music at a party. Has anybody had problems when tying to use Home Sharing between a Windows Computer and a Mac?
I've finally got hold of a 27" iMac that works, so now comes the process of transferring over all my media. I want to use my iMac as a media hub of sorts, and so have been transferring all of my music from my MacBook using the import feature on iTunes 9's Home Sharing. I just want to know if Apple places any restrictions on the files so, for instance, if I de-authorise my Macbook and/or delete the media files from it, will the music still be accessible as normal from the iMac (since it's been coped over and is stored locally), or will it create some kind of link to the original files and shout at me if they disappear? Or would I be safer using a traditional method of transferring the data?
I added a laptop to our home network that'll primarily be used by my wife. Most of our iTunes content is on my system. I wanted to share the library across the network and give her the option of importing tracks off mine. This will let the whole family use either computer to sync their iPods.
I set up the Home Sharing option using verion 9.0.2 on both machines. I didn't use a password. I can see the other computer's libraries under 'Shared' on each system and access their files to play. But when I select the library, I don't get the 'Import' option that is listed in the Help menu instructions. Without being able to import the tracks, we have to go back to the main machine to sync.
I just home shared from a pc to a mac. I see my library transferred over but how do I get them into their original playlists? Do I have to start all over and do it manually?
I have 2 new Apple TVs, I have 1 Second Gen Apple TV, I also have a new 3rd gen iPad, and a new iMac. Since I got the new iPad and new Apple TVs, iTunes Home Sharing stopped working reliably. I say this because this is when I noticed it. I had not really used home sharing much in the 2 months prior because I sold my old ipad in anticipation of the new one. When trying to access my video collection on iTunes, the iPad and AppleTVs will see my iMac's Video collection, but when selected, it thinks awhile and then the % indicator goes to 50% and stops waits awhile and then indicates that there are no videos.
The only way to get it to work again is to Stop Home Sharing on my iMac and then start it again. Then it works instantly. Less than a day goes by and bang, the problem comes again. Because I can get it to work via iTunes, I have to assume that it is a software issue and not a wireless router issue (im using an airport by the way). I don't know if iTunes is having a hard time keeping up with that many clients (the ipad and 3 apple TVs), or what, but the issue is very annoying and really ruins the Apple experience.
I have a new IPAD and just bought APple TV. Need to set up home sharing on my account and have followed Support options wherein you log into ITunes, choose advanced, then allow Home sharing. There is no place to even sign in to ITunes as i have always seen before. Cannot start ITunes on Laptop (linked to IPAD) at all but can from Browser. Trying to share content from my IPAD and APple TV.
I created a new account for my daughter and I had left iTunes open. She logged into the computer (with Fast User switching) while I was still logged in and iTunes running & my Home Shared library showed up in her iTunes and it works fine.
