I am having problem accessing to my Gmail using my Macbook Pro. I get the message Safari can't open the page " < url is here > " because Safari can't establish a secure connection the the server " < www.url.com >"the internet connection was definite working.

I know how to create a email profile on OSX Mail to access GMail. My question is if the GMail mail will be downloaded locally to my machine or will it remain on the Google servers. I WANT it to remain on the servers, ie I only want to access my emails through Mail. Otherwise most of my HDD will fill up with email and also I will not be able to access my emails when I do not have my machine on hand. what happens when I delete an email in Mail? Will it also get deleted in GMail?

I wasn't sure what forum to put this in. I apologize if this is the wrong one. Anyhow, I was able to connect to my PC the other day to get some mp3s transferred to my macbook. I did this over the wireless network in my home. I know want to move a few more files but my PC is not showing up as being shared on my mac. And my macbook isn't showing up in the network on my PC. Both computers are connected to the internet now and working. But I just can't access them from each other. I just got my first Mac a few days ago so I am very uneducated on this stuff right now. Do you guys have any idea how I could fix this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set up Mail to use Gmail perfectly, except when I send emails from Mail it won't save them in my sent folder, and it hasn't collected my old sent messages either.
I did a search and found a few people with a similar problem but that seemed to be attributed to the fact that they were accessing IMAP accounts. Anyone know what the problem could be with Gmail?
The only instruction I didn't follow in the instructions was that I told Gmail to keep copies of my emails in its inbox rather than archive them.
I'm trying to use Apple Mail with a Gmail IMAP account but I'm about to give up. I used exactly the same settings suggested on the gmail site but the service works very bad. Messages take forever to download, often I click on them and the preview window starts spinning. It also hangs frequently while synching or caching and I have to do a force quit. Is somebody using this in a profitable way?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have suddenly problems with using gmail, facebook, adc, etc. Everything was ok until yesterday afternoon. Since then I am unable to open i.e. gmail messages, facebook (anything but the home page), log in into the adc, etc ... It looks like pages where complex Javascript is used cause the problems. I am using a macbook pro with the latest software updates installed. I have tried on Safari 4, FF 3, Opera 9. I checked on my other two iMacs I have in-house ... same problem, although they are running Safari 3. The curious thing is that the only PC we have in-house works without problem on all those web sites. I have also switched off all devices on the network to see if there is no influence and i can't find no anormal traffic on the local network either. I thought about some kind of virus and erased my hard disk and re-installed from the original DVD.

I do not use a gmail app. It is the envelope icon on the bottom of the ipad that i use to access my emails.

I changed the permissions on my 2nd HDD in my optibay, and now I cannot access the drive. A little lock is displayed with the icon, and when i try to access it is says "you do not have permission to see its contents."
I changed the permissions in the first place because I formatted my primary SSD drive and was having trouble gaining access to some folders on the secondary drive. I got tired of setting "read and write" for each and individual folder, and so I clicked on the small drop-down menu with the gear that allowed me to set it for all the folder within that drive. I set "read and write", and after about an hour it finished processing that command. However, after it finished, the permissions read "custom" instead and I was denied access to everything on the drive.
I spent a year in Turkey as an exchange student, and of course I brought my macbook with me. In Turkey they are kind of uptight about which websites you're allowed to visit.
Youtube, last.fm and myspace are all blocked for (ridiculous) political reasons. Not really a problem, I could acces them via sites like vtunnel etc.
Now I'm back at home since several weeks, but still I'm not able to visit these sites and I get the same government-warning in Turkish. Anyone knows how to convince my macbook that I'm back in the free world?

For the last week or two, my apple mail has no longer been receiving my gmail. I have done nothing to the preferences.
Has anyone else had this problem and would anyone know how to fix it?
All I can think is something may have changed on their servers in the UK since it changed to 'googlemail', however, I managed to get a 'gmail' address before the switch.
I have had a Gmail IMAP account sync with Mail without problems for over a year. I almost never actually log into Gmail in a browser anymore because Mail works just fine.
The other day I was away from my computer so I logged in via a browser and saw that about a month ago, Gmail stopped saving sent messages in the sent section.
Those messages are still in my Mail folder, but never got sent to the server or not saved. I never changed any configurations.
Is there some way to manually "push" those messages to keep things in sync?
I have checked my settings, everything is normal.

Afterwards, I was/am unable to log into my Gmail account to check the messages via SL 10.6.4's Mail client. I have an April 2010 13" MBP. Similarly, I was/am unable to log into my Gmail account via the Mail client on my 16 GB, 3G iPad, or the 32 GB, 3rd Gen iPod Touch. I keep getting the error message that either the user name or the password is wrong! I checked and re-checked, but I did NOT see anything wrong? The funny thing is that I could log into my Gmail account via Safari on ALL three devices, but NOT via the Mail client on the three device!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Mail to access 4 different email accounts, two of which are Gmail accounts. About a week ago Mail stopped retrieving the messages of one of the accounts. It looks like it is trying to download them in that the little status wheel spins, but nothing happens on that account. I can send mail from it, however it is extremely slow to send. I installed Snow Leopard about two months ago and have had no other problems. Now all of a sudden Mail won't download any of my messages from this Gmail account. I haven't changed any settings, and I can access my mail at [URL] using the net interface and also on my iPhone and there are plenty of new messages there. I don't know what to do.

But now, my daughter can access internet on her mac, but I cannot. I have both mac right here side by side. One has access, one does not.
When I try to select this option in system preferences, my system just hangs indefinitely. I was considering getting the four finger gestures up and running, but I had only thought about it and did not actually start doing anything to the computer. Maybe they are reading my mind and punishing me? It has been like this for a couple of days through multiple reboots.

I have my Gmail account set up for IMAP, and use it in Mail. However, as of this morning, Mail can't connect to either the IMAP server or the SMTP server. Whenever I try to connect to the IMAP server, it gives me the following error:
"The server '[URL]' refused to allow a connection on port 993."
I've checked repeatedly and all of my settings are as the Gmail website says they should be. Does anybody have any idea how to fix this?
