I am using a new macbook pro (10.7.3) at work and we use the ricoh mp c5000 at work. I have tried so many different drivers but nothing seems to work. When I try to print one page, about 20 get printed with all of this garbled text,=.Â

We have a Ricoh AP3800c printer and printing is extremely slow on 2 macs and as it should be on the third. I have tried re-installing the PPD, binning the excisting PPD files from the library from the user folder and nothing works. Is there a other location where I need to look for a clean installation?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI changed the 7200rpm hard drive in my MBP for an SSD drive, but I don't think that the computer or the OS is initially accessing it correctly.
The time between turning on the power button and seeing the apple logo is about 15 seconds, which is worse than it was with the old drive in. That was about 5 seconds.
Initially, the time with the SSD was 45 seconds, but after doing a reset pram and the SMC and that helped to cut it down to 15 seconds.
These fixes lead me to think that there is something at the basic bios or OS level that may be interfering with the quick startup.
Everything after that point is a lot faster with the SSD, including the rest of the startup and the loading of applications, but there is something going on at the initial startup that causes the process to delay.
I'm just wondering how difficult it is to set up bootcamp. I'm above average when it comes to computers. What all will I need and is it worth it to do it on my own rather than taking it to apple.

My internal drive does not work and I want to install Windows XP on Parallels but it keeps looking for the cd on the internal drive. I tried making an .iso image of it and telling it where it is, but it still keeps looking for the internal cd drive.
The actual Base Speed that results is always 100 RPM higher than the Base Speed I set in Fan Control. Now, this isn't hard to workaround, but I'm wondering if anyone else is seeing such behavior.I like to keep the MB at around 1200 RPM when I am on battery power in the cafe. It saves a lot of power, and there is a negligible increase in temperature (on the order of 3-5 degrees F), and Fan Control has been great for that.

So I noticed that the screen size of text elements while viewing flash content is very small. I was drafting my fantasy team this past weekend and really had to look hard to read everything. You cant enlarge or shrink the browser window like you can with HTML pages by pinching/pulling on the track pad.
Is there some setting I can adjust to make flash content not be so tiny.
I would like to know how to connect to multiple networks from the same router. For instance, I have on uncapped shaped account and one capped unshaped account. So i use the shaped account for gaming and the uncapped for torrents.
on my old windows, I would have to connect tot the router and from there connect to one of the internet accounts. However, on my mac it just connects to the router but cannot choose which ISP I want.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI just set my background to rotate between the pictures in a folder and every time I restart the computer, I am stuck with a generic blue background (not in my pictures folder, mind you!).
I just have to right click/change destkop background, unselect the folder and then reselect and it comes back.
Would reloading the Snow Leopard disc do it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recall that, in Leopard, you could use TinkerTool in order to set a screensaver as your wallpaper. In Snow Leopard, however, it seems as if that option has disappeared. I have tried to use Wallsaver, but moving windows around or doing something dynamic on your computer causes the screensaver to flash or distort. Does anyone know of a good way to set a screensaver as your background without any interruptions? I don't care if the utility or application allows you to select a different screensaver than the one in System Preferences.

Can I use a router and an external HDD that connects via USB as a Time Capsule for wireless Time Machine backups? Or does it HAVE to be a Time Capsule to work? I have a macbook and a screen plugget to it. Now I use just the new screen and don't use the macbook one. But every time I turn the mac on the macbook screen turns on, and I have to decrease the brightness manually every time. (cause it's a waste of energy to keep it on if I don't use it). So I'd like to know to set the screen brightness to 0 by default, so I don't have to turn the brightness down every time.

Here is the situation:Macbook pro early 2011, lastest update of lion, My keyboard backlight is abnormally dim when set on the max setting. When comparing my current illumination to a properly working keyboard, which i had just a few days ago, the current brightness would be about a level two - three on the illumination scale.
The associated SMC functions appear to be working properly, besides the keyboard illumination.
Oddly: The light momentarily starting working yesterday and went back to full brightness for about an hour, then regressed backed to the problem of being abnormally dim.
What I have done to troubleshoot:Resetted SMC several timesseveral trials of going to a dark roomclicking and unclicking of the "automatic illumination" ticklight does not work Is this a problem with Lion? as there are several characteristically similar senarios involving the keyboard backlight and lion?

I'm using a MBA connected to a 52" TV with a 1920X1080 resolution when I teach. I often turn mirroring on and off depending on what I'm teaching and what program I'm using. When I turn mirroring on it defaults to a 1400X1050 resolution and I have to manually go into display settings and change it to the higher resolution. Is there a way to set the default settings so that it will always default to 1920X1080?

I admit that the question is not really clear. But here is the list of events:Â
1) Nov 2010: my MacBook Pro 13-inch on OS 10.6.8 from mid-2010 (2.66GHz core2 duo with 8G RAM) did not wake up from sleep when clamshell was opened. I called Apple Care and did SMC reset and the matter seemed to be resolved.Â
2) Jan 03 2012: Same issue happened. Same call to Apple and same SMC reset. Matter seemed resolved.Â
3) April 10 2012: Same issue happened. Apple Care recommented OS reinstallation.Â
4) April 12 2012: Performed Mac OS 10.6 reinstallation using the factory disc. No hiccups during installation. Performed software update afterwards (update package 10.6.8 combo v1.1) . No problems detected. Performed permission repair (disk utility). Then rebooted the computer. Here is the problem: Upon rebooting the computer, the sound volume setting was on low (1/4 of the max). I switched it to max. I rebooted the computer to reset PRAM.
Upon reboot, the sound volume was still on low (1/4 of max). I called Apple care, deleted the 2 plist files in library/preferences/audio, switched the volume to maximum and then rebooted the mac. Upon reboot, the sound volume remained on low setting (1/4 of max).Â
5) I did another OS reinstallation and software update. Same thing all over.Â

I have just connected an external 19" monitor to my 15" macbook pro. I am using both displays and that is fine, however I would like to be able to change the font sizes in my 19" monitor, because the default one is too small. I have to get awfully close to the monitor. I am not sure how i can display it better. When I tried changing resolution from 1440x900 to others, I didn't make it right, is that the only way? All I want is for screens in this monitor to have larger fonts (all programs, whether its safari, chrome, mail, etc). I should mention I am a brand new mac user.

My MacBook Pro (Late 2011) which is fully up to date, no longer boots up. The last thing I did was set a firmware password via Lion Recovery mode. After setting the password, I restarted the MacBook Pro, logged in, unbound the Mac from AD and OD, gave it a different computer name and chanegd the IP settings to DHCP. I shutdown the MacBook, plugged in a Firewire cable and turned it back on whilst holding down "T" to boot into Target Disk Mode.
The screen turned on for a second then suddenly turned off and the light on the front of the MacBook slowly pulses as if its in sleep mode. I've restarted the MacBook several times, with and without holding down any buttons and now it will not boot up properly. When you turn the MacBook on, you can hear the CDROM Drive/HDD moving - like it usually does but with no feedback on the screen. After the normal sounds have stopped the light on the front of the MacBook pulses as if its in sleep mode.
