Is there any reason why I can't have my macs background change every 5 seconds without it affecting what I'm doing on the screen at the time? It makes the computer slow while it's happening I really wanted to be able to have it rotate but not if it's going to choke the computer up. The mac is the current 2.4ghz 4gb model

ok, i installed 4gb (2x2)of ram in my alum macbook pro 2,4ghz 15" and in the 1 first time i didn't took off the battery but it went well and booted ok, after that i turned off the computer and the next time keeped making noises.
i tried put the old ram and it's everything ok, i tried both ram slots and memoryes and the 1rs booted ok alone but the second didn't, what is happening, it's the second ram damaged or have you another explanation?
I don't know what I have done but recently after copying text, The computer makes a sound everytime I paste? Like an error sound. Before I would copy and paste without any sound now everytime I paste a sound follows.

So today I managed to drop my MacBook a short distance to the ground. I can't believe I did this. The computer was asleep at the time and, as far as I can tell, the internal HDD is perfectly fine. After I dropped the computer it wouldn't at first wake up from sleep. After removing the battery and replacing it, it booted back from the state saved to the HDD. My problem is that my optical drive makes noises now. I never use it, but whenever the machine tries to access it (waking from sleep, launching Disk Utility, etc) it makes noises as if the eject mechanism is running constantly or something else like that. The case also slightly bulges where the drive is. Now, if it doesn't work ever again I will only be slightly sad. I haven't tried to put a disc in it yet, but because of a previous spill by a previous answer the fibers around the opening are so stiff that getting a disc out of the drive when it works is a pain. Any ideas of what might be wrong and how to possibly fix it? I haven't tried resetting the drive, I don't have the time tonight.

The mac was working fine though we heard the fan was broken. It was making a loud noise but worked fine. It use to over-heat very bad. So we decided to get the fan replaced. After 2 days we got it back. Then we tryed playing on it a games. It was laggy. Even after a certain amount of windows it would lag. Then we erased all the junk, and games and tryed to have multiple windows opened. It was bad. The fan didn't make noise but over heated very hot I installed an app and found out it would get so warm to about 219 degrees. We tryed backing it up and then reinstall another mac backup. The same result happened. We tryed again and still no change happend. We tryed all those cleaning programs clean my mac,mackeeper,antivirus,and some others. We erased them off to in the end.

I am shooting a film using a 35mm adapter, which flips the image upside down. I'll be capturing directly to laptop. Is there any software solution (Nvidia video card) to flip the screen? Or is there capture software that can flip the image? I know you can flip in post, but we are using the Macbook Pro as a sort of makeshift video monitor, as well as capture device, to get accurate focus and to make camera work easier.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a 2.4G MBP with 4G ram that I used for about a year. I bought an Intel 128GB SSD and used the optibay to install. I'm using the HD to store the home folder, and all applications and OSX on the SSD. The MBP started getting really laggy here lately, I see a pinwheel for about 60 seconds when I use "Save as" or try and print something. So I bought a 2.8G 17" MBP with 4G ram, hoping it was a hardware issue. I swapped both drives into the new MBP, but am having the same issues. I use a lot of different softwares (office '08, xcode, parallels, quickbooks, etc...) so its hard to pinpoint it down to a specific application. I am going to wipe the MBP clean and start over, but what is the best route? Should I just backup the home folder, reinstall all software then put back the home folder? I want to avoid copying the problem, but can't afford to lose all of my application data.

It's been working fine except for one small problem - the track-pad sometimes lags.The problem occurs mainly on the user logon page when you start up the page, and sometimes on Safari, etc. It doesn't occur too often to be a distraction. I recently upgraded to time warner wideband 50 down 5 up and i can dl and ul fast but the internet gets laggy some times tacking 30 + seconds to load pages they came and swapped the modem again today no fix its a ubee docsis 3.0 one. Its fine on all other networks. Tried open dns and some other work arounds but no luck, other pcs on my network are fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI left my mac turned off for roughly a month. When I turned the computer on, the gray apple screen and the load bar appeared to start up the computer. Shortly into the loading process, the loading circle appeared (rotating circle seen to indicate loading in programs such as iMovie and Safari etc). The start up load bar disappeared and the load circle has now been rotating infinitely. I have tried pressing command+r and turning off the mac and turning it back on. I have plugged it into a power source. It won't let me past this gray screen. How do I get into my mac?

I believe it happened after I used VMWare Fusion 5 but I do not believe that is the problem because I have used it before without any issues. I also tried reinstalling Mavericks OS X but that did nothing. The transition is just not a clean and pleasant transition from one desktop to the other.

I cant figure out how to change the background color of it in candybar. I'm sick of the standard grey mac color.When I'm in candybar I go to the dock section-->view-->dock-->preview background..the options under preview background are greyed out. Also when I am in the dock section-->view-->background-->change color. I try changing the color but it doesn't change. Am I doing something wrong..or what?

However, when I changed my background via command in the terminal by switching the defaultdesktop.jpg with another picture in the CoreServices folder, My picture does not show up on the login screen instead it is just a plain blue screen. Is there anyway to restore the original login background settings?because I actually found a program "loginox" that easily changes the login picture however, it will not open because it says I have changed the original background photo.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been given a PDF file from someone's iPhoto library/slideshow images (by doing a Print-PDF-Save as PDF).
The PDF file looks fine, but several of the images are rotated the wrong way. When the slideshow was presented the images were all in their correct positions, but the PDF file only shows the landscape ones right.
I've tried using the "rotate" tool in Preview, but that rotates all images, which is of course not what I want.
I was hoping Adobe Acrobat pro 9, which I also have, would allow me to rotate images individually, then resave the PDF file but I can't quite figure out how, or if it's possible at all.
I am relatively new to my MacBook Pro and enjoy playing games. I forgot how to rotate a tile (jigsaw piece) using the keyboard and touchpad. I think the space bar is involved?? I have spent way too many HOURS online, MacBook for Dummies. I have also searched this site and found nothing.

I'd like to use the included Apple Chess.app to visualize games from books and other sources where the moves for both sides are given in algebraic notation. I've set to play Human to Human, so I make both black and white moves. Every time I move, the board rotates 180 degrees (for the other human's view). How do I stop the rotation?

Alright so I bought the Logitech V470 Bluetooth mouse for my MB. It's kind of small but I like it.
Anyways, I had the Logitech drivers and everything was going decent, but the mouse was still kind of laggy. Now after reading a thread on a Logitech mouse, everyone said Logitech's drivers were horrible. So I uninstalled everything that said Logitech Control Center. I didn't get everything though, because it still says Logitech Control Center connected whenever I connect my mouse. Is there anyway to get rid of it? I can't find anything about Logitech anywhere on my system.
Now to my second problem, the mouse pointer lags! I go and try to click the back button and it takes me a couple tries every now and then because it over shoots it and then lags back. It's really annoying.
Is there anything I can do about that?I might add that I'm using an external monitor.I'm thinking of just buying a new mouse, but that's another $50...
For about a month now I noticed that whenever I'm watching a video on YouTube in HD or when I'm watching a movie trailer on Quicktime at 1080p, the playback lags. Prior to this everything worked well. All the videos I watched played smoothly at any resolution at any quality. I have an iMac with the following specs:
2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4 GB of DDR2 SDRRAM
ATI Radeon HD2600 Graphics Card with 256 VRAM
Also, I do not have many windows or applications open when I watch these videos. I have also close to 21GB of hard disk space used up out of about 280.
