I spent alot of time working on my itunes library including adding artwork to music.
How can i copy my entire library over?

Jul 14, 2010I just got a new MacBook Pro 15" and I love it. I just have a quick question, though--how do I go about transferring my itunes stuff from my old Mac laptop to my new one? I tried consolidating the library, and then dragging the iTunes file to the new computer (and then going into preferences and selecting the iTunes Media folder location), but that didn't work.

However iTunes will not let me move the album again onto my iPad. Why not? (I am having to use manual moving rather than syncing because I have another iTunes on a PC, and the iPad seems to have attached itself to that.)

May 9, 2009I copied a lot of songs to my cell phone so I can here them wherever I go. However, i noticed that because of the album artwork, I couldn't copy as much songs as I wanted. Is there away I can remove the artwork embedded in the mp3 files WITHOUT reimporting them back to iTunes? I don't want to remove the artwork from the iTunes library, just from the phone card. Is there a separate application that can batch-handle ID3 tags and artwork? i copied the songs from my macbook to the m2 memory stick using a usb adapter so i can use the songs on my ericsson. I think it is really annoying that iTunes requires songs to be in the library to handle them. I could really use a separate application or a script/folder action that would do the trick - freeware or shareware

Apr 13, 2009I was able to do it on my pc. Is there anyway I can remove my music from my harddrive (Macbook) and place in my external hard drive. And everytime i open itunes it will grab the music from my external hard drive. Also my external hard drive is hooked up to my airport extreme.

I'd like to move all the songs to the Mac iTunes clients, reformat her iPod to Mac, then put all the music, playlists, etc back on her iPod. I'm getting my new iMac today and i have an itunes library on my current macbook(2006, 10.4.11), and i was hoping to move it to the iMac. The files are stored on my external HDD. I can't use the migration assistant because i don't have any firewire cables either. I was also hoping to keep all the ratings and play information ect.

Mar 28, 2012I run a college internet-only radio station. The system we use works from the iTunes library. Each week, I download music from several music distributors, an average of 20 albums per week. Some of these downloads do not come with album artwork attached. Of those, some have artwork available through the iTunes store.
The catch is that each time I tell iTunes to get album artwork, it starts at the top of its list and works through the (as of today) 1,817 albums. It meticulously checks albums for which it already has artwork as well as albums for which it has already failed to find artwork on previous occassions. This process takes about 45 minutes. I've searched the options, but haven't found a "Check for album artwork only on recent additions" option.
OS X :: Moving ITunes Library To Network Drive Not Working?
Jan 3, 2011I have read the Apple site for how to set the iTunes library to point to another location, but am having trouble. What I did was copy my entire iTunes folder over to my network hard drive and all the files copied just fine. However, when I point iTunes to that location, the files still point to the old default iTunes. I checked this by using "get info" for the files in the library and it still points to the old location and not the new one.
Just wondering if anyone has any tips on what may be going on or why it is refusing to point to the new location?

now heres the twist that i need help with.
i recently bought a new imac and i had a 1TB external hard drive from before. all of my music and movies are already on the drive but i didnt have it with me when i first was using my imac so i setup a itunes library on my imac. so when i hit consolidate in itunes none of the music and movies that i had from before are showing up in my itunes.

I have two accounts on the iMac, mine and my wife's, which have been set up to share the music (iTunes) library. When I sync my iPhone into my account on the iMac in order to sync the music library it gives me a message that if I sync the music all the items on the iPhone will be replaced with the music library on the computer. However, there is no music library on the iMac as yet. How do I get the iPhone music on the iMac so my wife and I can share the library?

Every time I try to trash my old itunes file and access the removable HD, I cant find it from iTunes. the only thing I can get it to do is to reload (duplicate) the entire 30gb library on the HD I want it off of. Now I have 2 duplicate versions of my library, but still can't get it to keep the files on the HD.

Sep 9, 2014I have an iTunes library of approx. 60GB that is currently stored on an external hd connected via USB to a mac mini. I access this music library via other devices such as ipad, iphone bose soundtouch. Currently the iTunes library is only accessible from the other devices if the mac mini is awake and functioning.
I am therefore considering moving the external hd USB connection from the mac mini to my time capsule which provides the network in my home. I assume that this will provide me with an always on music library rather than one which is dependent on the mac mini. Firstly is this assumption correct or will I still need to have the mac mini awake and iTunes open on it in order to access the iTunes library from an iphone for example?
If my assumption is correct, what steps do I need to go through to relocate the hd from the mac mini to the time capsule and still be able to play music?

I'm opening iTunes, going to Preferences, Advanced, and replacing the iTunes Media folder location to the correct one /Volumes/Volume E/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media
I'm checking Keep iTunes Media folder organized & Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library, clicking on the "OK" button, and nothing happens.
Funny enough, Spotify finds it in seconds and I can play my music from that player instead.
