When I attach photos and some docs to an email they embed into the email rather than attach. I know that I can change to 'show as icon' and this does change but when the email is received by recipient the attachment is again embeded into the email and not an icon.

I can't send emails with attachments greater than 10mb. Network people say it is because of the apple, not a network setting. any one else experiencing this at work?

How can I send high resolution photos from iphoto11 as attachments, not imbedded and made lower resolution in emails? Each time I try to do this, I choose the "actual size" option in iphoto, but I'm told by repients that the photos come through in lower resolution than I sent them and they were imbedded not attached.
There must be a way to send high reolution, suitable for reporduction, photos. After all Apple is said to be super in graphics. All the tutorials, even my "One to One" guru give instructions for imbedding the photos.

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I cannot add an attachment to email using Yahoo mail. Every time I select the file, Yahoo mail begins scanning and it then crashes the browser - happens with any browser and any file.
Searching around suggests there are similar problems for some users but not as pervasive.

When I try to open a Word attachment to an email I receive an error message stating that the file cannot be opened as it is in use by "another user" and prompts me to open a copy. I click OK and another message tells me the file is not a valid word file and cannot be opened. I have tried saving the files but they still cannot be opened

When I send an email with a large attachment it is not saved in the sent folder. All other emails are saved in the sent folder. The emails are received by the recipients.

Mail doesn't download emails with large attachments. Moreover, it doesn't download messages that arrive after this email with large attachment.
Attachments upto 5-6 Mb are no problem. This problem occurs on all my email accounts, including hotmail.
I have to open my email from the browser and delete the email with the large attachment to be able to receive emails again on my Mail application .

As of yesterday my Mac will no longer send or receive emails that have attachments on them. It doesn't matter the size or format of the attachment, nothing happens. It shows as Sent but it doesn't get to the recipient and I can't receive either.Â

As a precursor to my question perhaps I ought to admit that I don't yet have my old and less-old iMacs 'talking' to one another. (The former is of the translucent, coloured-bodied type and the latter an iMac G4.) Do please be aware that I'm not technical in the least. (My pen-name is no accident.) Could some kind soul tell me where I may find a jargon-free, step-by-step guide to transferring OE e-mails in OS 9 to Entourage in OS X 10.4.11
View 2 Replies View RelatedAcquired new MacBook; attempts to import old OSX Mail from ailing G4 PowerBook only partially successful.
First attempt: took copy of "Mail" folder from "Library" folder, and copied it into MacBook's "Library" folder. Opened Mail, and my minor folders (4-5 mail folders with no more than 100 messages each) appeared OK; no sign of my inbox mail (1,300 messages), or sent mail (2,500 messages).
Second attempt: discarded "Mail" folder from above. Ran Apple Backup to restore Mail files. Selected over-write everything option. Same results as above.
Third attempt: tried to import the mail boxes using File: Import Mailboxes function. Each time I select the folders with the emails I want (my old Inbox and Sent mail), the import wizard says" No valid Mail messages found". However, if I just manually open those folders, and double-click on any of the mail files (all with .emix extensions), I can open each email.
Am currently pulling out hair trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Old PowerBook files were encrypted using File Vault. New MacBook was encrypted using FileVault after attempt 3 failed above, and then de-encrypted when that didn't work, and the above steps were repeated, to no avail.
I'm using MacOSX and Mac Mail. The cub scouts send a weekly newsletter via Scouttrack. When I view this on the Mac, I cannot see any attachments; it's like they are not there at all. When I view it from Outlook on a PC, it doesn't show the little paper clip, but when I open the email, then I can see that the attachments are there.
Is there any way to get the mail application on the Mac to recognize that there are attachments in the email??
Why are my attachments not showing up as attachments when recieved. They are sent from Mail as windows "friendly" - but never the less always show up inlaid in the mail. The recipient then have to ctrl clik on the documents, save them on the harddrive before being able to fx print.

I am new to Mac-have recently migrated from PC to a dear little MacBook. This may be a server problem, but thought I would ask. Suddenly my inbox filled up with 1500 old emails (3-4 months' worth all marked "unread"). Have I inadvertently done something?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI started my Mac mail application today (set to connect to my gmail accounts through IMAP), and all my mail that was in my inbox is GONE. I don't know if my gmail accounts were hacked or if their implementation of "Priority Inbox" just trashed all my messages older than 35 days. I've changed my password and disabled Priority Inbox. Does anyone have any ideas about how I can recover my e-mails?
View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a 2011 Macbook Pro and an older (5 year old) Western Digital external hard drive. I have always used this hard drive for both mac and windows. Recently, however, whenever I go to transfer a file from the mac to the WD hard drive, the little transfer window pops up and it appears to initiate the transfer. However, it never fully starts it. It appears to "get stuck" in that initiating stage, showing zero of 3.16 gb transferred and shows an unknown transfer time. This happens no matter how long I leave it open. Again, I have used this external hard drive with my macs for the past 5 years without any problems until now. I haven't moved or modified the WD hard drive

Apple mail out of office rule is sending auto replies to all emails not just newly received emails--HELP! I set up the rule according to another apple support thread and instead of only sending the reply to new mail received, it was sent to all messages I believe that were in my INBOX, I only had a few but several people that hadn't sent me emails since I set up the rule, received the OUT OF OFFICE reply. Here is the procedure I followed for the out of office rule-[URL]I just used my email account which is a business account- not an ECU account but these rules according to the apple thread apply for all emails.

I have one problem again regarding my "MAIL"
I can send emails, without any problems...but I can't RECEIVE any emails, at all. All of a sudden.
On the left bottom corner, I can see, receiving 1 of 4, and after 1 min, the bar is gone, and I cannot get any emails at all.
When I login to the webmail (abc.com/webmail for instance), I can find there're 4 emails sitting there "unread"
May I know what's the problem? and how to fix it? because I want to be able to receive the mails from MAIL instead of logging in to webmail all the time.
