I run Firefox (and Safari and Chrome) on a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. If I go to [URL] it tells me that my version of Java should be updated, but the Software Update... under my apple menu does not update it. The reason for this update is that security problems were found. Has Apple made the updated Java plugin for Firefox available? If so, how do I install it?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI switched from PC to iMac last week . I am very excited by the performance of Mac OSX and display of the new 21.5" iMac. The only problem I face is that quicktime movies are not played in safari/firefox. Safari waits indefinitely for loading the quicktime movie , firefox shows a big 'Q ?'. Don't know what that means.
This frustrating because I can't view any of the tutorial movies in the apple website. It is ironic that apple's own format is not playing on the new iMac.
The OS is Mac OSX 10.6.2 . Flash is playing well in the same machine. I am new to mac .
I am trying to install the Move Networks player into Firefox to watch a few things online at Fox, Abc, ect. When I try to install it I do not get the Trust box to appear to complete the install. I have been able to get it to work after I create a new account and install, but no matter how I move the plugins to the main account I use it will not work. Anyone else run into this problem?

This was working on Mac Firefox as well as Windows Firefox until recently. I noticed just now that I am getting only 10 results per page with the Mac, but still 100 with Windows. Why would that be? I modified the plugin with the Mac and then transferred it to the Windows PC, so it is the same plugin with the same modified code on both. Why is that not working any more on Mac OS?
I just tried the Google Canada search plugin from Mycroft with the modification, and it gives me 100 results. I edited the Google Classic plugin to have the same format as the Canadian one except for the hostname, and it still gave only 10 results. Now I am even more confused.
I recently downloaded the latest version of Flash Player and the plugin seems to keep crashing on all the major browsers including Safari. I am using a Mac Pro Generation 3.1 with OSX Lion. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the plugin and it still keeps crashing.

Recently I have installed Sun Microsystems Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for my Mac (Leopard). Though it shows successful installation, my java applet simply will not work under Firefox and Safari. I was running java 1.6.0_33 on my Mac Lion and later I installed java 1.7.0_05. Now in my Java preferences I see both the Java SE available.Now my problem is when I enable Java 7(& select Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications), my JNLP file doesn't run with java web start, from Safari as well as Firefox. When I try running the jnlp using Open With option and selecting Java Web Start present in /System/Library/CoreServices, nothing happens.Â
When I try running the JNLP file from Terminal suing command /System/Library/CoreServices/Java Web Start.app/Contents/MacOS/Java Web Start xyz.jnlp I get following errorÂ

I made a Java applet with Xcode 3.2Â and i load it to firefox or Safari(Yeah i've updated my java)and for exampleÂ
i made a HELLO WORLD simple applet to be in black color letters, then compiled and yeah it worked but then i redid it for the letters to be red.. and they kept being black..no matter how many times i recompiled the applet.Â
And yeah the HTML is pointing to the correct class file. Also, If if i add a Thread and implement runnable.. then nothing shows up in the canvas.Â
And also, what ever happened with the appletviewer application? We don't have that anymore.

Since the flurry of 2012 updates, Java is completely broken on my Mac Pro. Java dependent apps don't start and Apple Support says to enable the apps in Java Preferences. Nice idea, but Java Preferences WILL NOT LAUNCH either. There were plenty of tools to address flashback and they DID NOT break normal day to day operations.I downloaded the package from support to try a re-installation, but it says "A newer version of Java is already installed" and offers me the option to Close. No reinstall, nothing. Apple support is at it's usual level of service on this issue, completely INVISIBLE.Â

I am brand new to Mac (I got a G4 laptop in trade to replace a dead windows desktop).I am trying to install Limewire and it tells me that I cannot: "could not launch application because it requires a version of Java that is not installed". I am having problem with post processing a simulation. Every time I hit the "plot parameter" button within the software I get the same error. Opening the file on a windows machine works perfectly fine, therefore I have tried updating the Java through "Software update" and still no luck. Â

I don't like Firefox 11 one bit and am yearning for 3.6. I read online to drag firefox 11 to trash and that, of course did nothing to actually uninstall. I then dowloaded 3.6 and 'installed' that, restarted but still firefox 11 lives on in my computer.
