MacBook Pro :: How To Burn Album To CD Using Finder
Jan 25, 2010
I tried burning an album to a CD using Finder. I dragged the files to the folder and clicked "Burn." Track 1 was going OK; it completed burning and then was "verifying." After that, it stopped burning. I was wondering why it didn't burn the other tracks but then thought maybe it really did because I was doing something else also at the time. Then I try putting it in a CD player: it won't play and there's only the first track available.
Two questions:
1) Do I need to highlight all the tracks before I click "Burn" so that it burns all of them instead of just one?
2) Why didn't the first track play in a CD player? Do you think it's because it's a .FLAC file? (I thought .FLAC were CD-quality anyway.) Would a .mp3 file work?
I'm just burning my CD library on my Mac. I have purchased a 7th gen iPod to then put them onto. All fine and going really well, but how can I put missing album artwork on those CD's that iTunes has no artwork for?Â
I've tried simply obtaining a jpeg image of the album cover and attempted to copy and past, also tried get info/artwork; neither works.Â

I have over 20,000 songs in iTunes, and for some reason, all of them are organized in Finder [Finder>Music>iTunes>iTunes Music] by Artist. And its really annoying when trying to move a folder from one album rather than one artist!! I need to know how to change it so that iTunes organizes all those folders in Finder by Album.
for a lot of songs for eg. one song by Artist A, one song by Artist B, and a third song duet by by both A and B, it makes 3 different folders for all 3 songs, so its uber hard to find what I want.
When I transfer music from finder to itunes I click and drag the folder (artist) from finder onto the itunes window, but the album and artist don't show up in itunes. If I search itunes for individual songs I find them in "unknown album". Why doesn't the album and artist transfer and go into itunes?
I was trying to burn a few MP3 for a friend of mine today outside of iTunes (ripped from flv). I threw in a CD-R and was prompted to choose what to do. Because it was a simple burn, I was going to use finder. For some reason, I can't. This is the window that pops up when I try to choose "Open with Finder" Code: The operation cant be completed because you dont have the necessary permission. Not sure whats up with that seeing as I am admin on my MBP. I have repaired permissions and that didn't work. Weird still, I can burn in iTunes and Toast. Anyone have any ideas of what is going on?
I started an iDVD project to burn a dvd and completed it. In the finder bars under Places, an icon keeps showing up and I can't get rid of it. It doesn't seem to impact the rest of the system, just annoying. I have done the following:
Does anyone know the meaning of an error code -43? I receive this when trying to burn a data DVD from the Finder; the error text is to the effect of "<cannot find resource fork> for <path not accessible>". Doesn't seem to matter what I'm trying to burn. Burning disc images using Disk Utility or from iDVD works fine. My hard disk, from where the files are being copied, verified with no errors.
Computer is a late 2011 MacBook Pro. I burned 2 DVD's successfully (first time on this new machine) but when I tried to do another one it failed and I got a prompt that said the computer was not communicating with the drive. I shut down, rebooted, tried again with the same result. Called Applecare and they concluded that it was a hardware failure (2nd in 6 months) after trying all sorts of stuff. On a hunch, I tried one more time and, guess what, it burned just fine. It may yet turn out to be a hardware problem after all but it sure "felt" like it was software related or else some kind of firmware glitch. I am running 10.7.3.Â
I had tried to write several DVDs and CDs before, and they failed (it turned out to be that they were already used DVD-Rs), but the burn folders for them are still on the sidebar in Finder, as shown in the pictures below. It's not necessary, but I would like to get them off, so is there any way to do it?
I keep my large music collection on an external drive connected to an Airport Extreme in my home. I've embedded all my album artwork in the music files, and previously all the album artwork was displaying perfectly in iTunes. After upgrading to iTunes 10.5, however, most of my albums are missing the album art in the album list and Cover Flow. I know that the art is still in the file because it shows up in the "Now Playing" box in the lower left corner of the screen. The only way I have found to get the album art to show up again in the album list and Cover Flow is to go through the following steps: Â Control-click the first track of an album for which the cover art is not displaying correctly. From the context menu that appears, select Get Info.Click on the Artwork tab, then click Cancel.Â
Now the artwork shows up in iTunes in all views. I called Apple Support and asked if there's a faster way to fix the issue with the database. Manually fixing each album for hundreds of albums is no fun. Telling iTunes to Get Album Artwork doesn't work because most of my music was not purchased from iTunes but was ripped from CDs I already own. It's very frustrating because I already spent hours finding and embedding the hi-res album art in my files. I paid extra for Apple products because I expect them to at least avoid corrupting my databases.
When importing multi disc CD albums they will show up as three separate albums, 1,2 & 3 for example. How do I set it up so they show as one, 3 disc album and play through? Â
Usually a CD comes with more artwork than just the cover. It has a CD cover w/ lyrics and other artwork. Is it possible to download this via itunes? If not, who?

For some reason, when I download the album artwork from iTunes for "Music from and Inspired by Spider-Man," it instead shows artwork for "Ethnicali: Music Inspired by the Golden State." I don't even have that album. There was another album of mine that iTunes applied the wrong artwork to as well, but I can't remember it off-hand. In any case, does anybody have any suggestions as to what I could do to fix this issue. I already submitted feedback to Apple about the problem as well.Â

I've got quite a few albums that need the album covers and when I click on all of the songs on the album and let iTunes try and retrieve the album covers it comes back with nothing. So what I've done in the past is go to [URL] and copy and paste the covers but it seems like I've got to go thru each song individually to get them to take.
I just finished an original rock album, registered it with Gracenote, and it is being sold through itunes and many other places via cdbaby. The album is also available to download via Dropcards to people that buy or receive a download crad from us in person. PROBLEM is, when you download the cd, the tracks are in the proper order as on the album when they are in a folder from Dropcards, then you drag them into itunes and they are in ALPHABETICAL order in the RECENTLY ADDED folder! Under the MUSIC tab, they however are in proper album order. ?? It's good that the cd is properly registered and is in the right order in peoples main MUSIC list, but when I download albums, the easiest way to find the new album is under RECENTLY ADDED, which in my case would have people clicking on the wrong song to start listening to our record (not the intended feel we wanted to start the record with)Â

It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.
My new DVD burner will play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs, but will not burn DVDs through the finder. Will getting TOAST definitely enable me to burn DVDs? I don't really need it otherwise and I would rather not buy it unless it will definitely enable me to burn DVDs.
I am trying to back up some DVD is I OWN.I used MTR to get the Video_TS folder on my HD.I have been trying to get Burn to create a disk that will work on my stand alone DVD player (which supposedly supports DVD -/+R and RW well as DivX).WHICH TYPE OF DISK DO I TELL BURN TO CREATE? I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. (tells me its a DATA disk).
Have a free to distribute educational DVD (preparation for a test) that I need to make a copy of for a friend. Downloaded MacTheRipper and copy the DVD. Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.
New to iMac, just trying to do something I could do on the PC without any trouble. Can't seem to get the burn folder to burn to a new CD-R. Can't seem to get the iMac to recogmize that there is a CD in the drive.
Have tried more than one CD. It does eject, but stalled out on the transfer.
I miss my PC. this has taken an hour for something that should be--well--easy.
When I close a finder window, the finder menu disappears and then reappears along with the finder window. It looks like finder is crashing and restarting. This started happening after I downloaded a pdf and put it in a folder. Maybe there is a bug in the way finder is rendering the image of the pdf file at the top of the finder window?Â
I've created six albums in iPhoto and formatted them as contact sheets with names under each image (to make a printable sales catalogue). Is there a way of saving them in the same format to a disk/USB/into a Word document?
how do i delete ALL album art work? i also want to download a third party app to easily put the correct artwork in. what is the best software for this?
In the past, I have uploaded albums in iPhoto to my Facebook page. Easy, peasy. Tonight, though, the Facebook link in the "Share" function is dead. What gives?
