MacBook Pro :: Downloading Music From Flash Drive Copied From Windows?
Mar 19, 2012
A friend of mine copied some music CDs onto his PC and downloaded them onto a flash drive. He wants to share this music with me - can I download the music from the flash drive onto my new MacBook Pro?
Info:
MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I copied some image files from a flash drive (jpeg format). When I go to view in folder they appear to not be there. When I try to copy again, msg says something like cannot change invisible file. what can i do to make these image files visible?
I have copied some image files (jpeg format) from a flash drive onto my imac. When I go to view the images they do not appear. When I try to copy them again, there is a message that I cannot modify invisible images. These images were originally downloaded to a windows-based computer and copied to the flash drive. Is there a way to make these image files visible? I am trying to use them for a website.
Can I use my flash drive as a storage for music and use it in iTunes. Like how on a CD it shows it as a CD and lists the songs on it. I would like to do this on a flash drive as well.
How do I import music from a flash drive that was formatted with a windows PC to my MacBook - the drive is showing it has over 3GB of info on it but none of the files are showing up in finder? I had backed up my iTunes library on the flash drive about a year and a half ago before I switched from a dell to a MacBook pro.
I recently replaced my stock HDD (500GB) with a 750GB. I went into the recovery partition, and did a disk copy. I figured cloning the disk would be the best way to do things. When it was done, I rebooted, and booted from the new drive (which was in an external enclosure). It was a little slow, but I didn't think anything of it. I opened up the case for my MBP and switched the drives. When I booted up after switching them, the boot-up process was very slow, and when OSX finally booted, everything was very slow (lagging) and unresponsive. I kept getting the "Grey Screen of Death" telling me to force shut-down my laptop. I have switched the drives back, and everything is working fine now, but I'm curious as to what may be causing the new drive not to work properly. Has this happened to others? Have I missed a step or 10?Should I maybe have used Carbon Copy Cloner instead of Mac's built-in disk copy?Â
Info: MacBookPro, Mac OS X (10.7.4), 17-inch i7 Core, 8GB RAM (mid-2010)
I saw this featured in a yahoo segment on streaming music vs. downloading music, etc. I thought it might be Songbird but the interface looks different.

Hello members just purchased a used iBook G4 for $200. This is my first mac, so things are very confusing for me being that I've only used PC for so many years. The one issue I am having as of now, Lime Wire isn't working. I've read a few different discussion on this topic and I guess it's due to my software...
Machine Name:iBook G4 Machine Model:PowerBook6,5 CPU Type:PowerPC G4 (1.1) Number Of CPUs:1 CPU Speed:1.07 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU):512 KB Memory:1.25 GB Bus Speed:133 MHz Boot ROM Version:4.8.5f0
Just purchased my first mac, iv'e been a pc user for almost 10 yrs and i finally switched to a mac. What programs are good to DL music. On my pc i use to use Lime Wire or Bear Share. Can I use these or does anyone have a better program that is Mac friendly ?
When I try downloading music in itunes its says that I have to authorized it and I dont know how to do that, so I can make lyrics videos in my youtube channel.
Info: iPad, iOS 6.1.1, it wont turn on and it wont charge.
I have a Macbook Air, an 8gb flash drive, and the Windows 7 .iso. I want to do a full install of Windows without Mac OS (please hold back the flames).[URL] Everything went ok, but when I hold down -option- when booting, the flash drive doesn't show up.
possible it install Windows using a USB Flash Drive configured to function as an Install Disk? Using the generally accepted method for converting a USB flash drive to act as an installation disc my 2010 iMac 27 will not recognize this drive using the boot drive 'option' key method. After formatting the drive as an MBR disk to act as in installer the iMac will not recognize it as a bootable drive. This works fine on other Intel based computers and my GUID USB Flash Drive OSX install image works just fine and is recognizable as a bootable drive.
I am trying to install windows 7 to my bootcamp partition from a USB flash drive. I looked up some other forums that talk about how to do this but they started throwing in all kinds of fancy computer terms that I don't understand.
I'm trying to install windows 7 on my macbook, i couldn't put the iso disk image on a dvd because my macbook will not read a bank dvd (that's a separate problem)So i was wondering if there was a way to "burn" the iso file on a flash drive and boot it up from through when I'm on Boot camp assistant.
i am trying to download some music using torrents, but the download stops every 20 seconds, telling me the startup disk is almost full, but when i check my harddisk, i got like 96 gb free, so is there something wrong with my computer or am i just using a corrupt torrent file or something?
I got this weird issue with my 4 GB flash/thumb drive. Basically, in OS X it seems to work perfectly fine. I formatted it to HFS+ and transferred files to it, ejected it, then put it back in, the file is still there, I transferred it back to the computer, and it opens fine. However, when I put it in any machine running Windows, it'll only recognize 48 MB or something. It refuses to format the whole 4 GB.
When I plug it into an Ubuntu machine, it would recognize a "4 GB filesystem", but would throw up errors anytime I try to interact with it. And when I tried to format it with Ubuntu, it would invariably fail. From Windows and Ubuntu's views, the flash drive is no good. But then why does it *seem* to work fine in OS X? Yes, I have formatted the drive with MS-DOS (FAT) in OS X, same results in Windows and Ubuntu.
Just a quick question regarding bootcamp and windows installation. I have windows XP burned onto a disc with a few other programs so when I have to insert the windows disc will that work? Or would I have to burn it to a dvd by itself? Will windows install off a flash drive maybe? Also, When it asks for the MAC osx disc, can I just use the install discs that came with my new MBP?
I copied itunes songs from windows computer on usb, loaded them into apple mac 10.7, they played ok, until i synced the iphone, when clicking on a song, it now says cant locate, you click locate and I can see the songs in the media, but cant copy them over.
How can I get the songs into the itunes library. I looked at preferences and it is ticked to copy songs to itunes,
Would it be possible to install Windows (7) for BootCamp from a USB Flash Drive instead of burning it to a DVDROM?Installing Windows (Vista) from a Flash Drive [URL]is possible and potentially faster than installing from DVD or ethernet. I'm assuming this should work for Windows 7 as well.So the question that remains is if BootCamp can boot? install from? USB. (I've never tried BootCamp, so I'm not familiar with the process of even starting an install.)
I run a studio in an education evironment. We've got quite a lot of software installed on our machines (Mac OS X 10.7.4) and there's always the chance that students will copy applications from the Applications folder onto an external drive to take home! Obviously this is becoming increasingly easy with large USB sticks and Applications which are entirely contained in the Applications folder. Is there any way that students can still run these applications during class but prevent them from copying the whole applications?
this happens at least 2-3 times a day. I will click to go to a youtube video, or some video on a site. The download box will immediately pop up and it will start to download the flv file of the video i'm watching. It gets annoying, but it doesn't happen all the time.
