MacBook Pro :: Connecting To HP C4680 Printer On Home Network

Jul 6, 2009

I'm brand new to this forum, and Mac's as a whole. I'm trying to connect our new MacBook Pro to a HP Photosmart C4680 printer through a wireless network that we purchased yesterday. Both the MacBook and printer were purchased through at the Apple store.

Here is our setup:

HP printer is shared, but is connected via USB to a Dell desktop. I have successfully been able to print from my Dell laptop through our home's wireless network. Both the Dell desktop and laptops are on Vista.

MacBook Pro :: Connecting To LanierLD145 Printer Via Shared Wireless Network

Jun 6, 2012

I am a new intern with a small company and am trying to connect my Macbook Pro's printer settings to our office printer, which is a LanierLD145. We halso have an HP3600 on the same wireless network which my Macbook can detect and print to just fine via the shared network server. However, when I try to find the LanierLD145 I can't find it anywhere on my shared network or via a wireless to connection in order to print to it from my laptop.

I have access to the desktop I believe the printer is routed to the server through and have "shared printer with network" via this computer. However, I still cannot find the LD145 icon on my macbook when I try to connect and print, even when going through the "Windows"-> (shared server) route. I've also installed apple's "general lanier printer driver" in hopes have luck finding the printer if I have the driver installed, but that has not worked either. How I can connect the macbook to the LanierLD145 via my wireless server connection?

Info:
MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

OS X :: Connecting To Wireless Printer Via Router

Dec 8, 2007

I have an eMac 1Ghz with 10.3.9 on it and I just bought a new Lexmark Wi-Fi Printer. I have no Extreme card, just a Netgear Wired/Wireless router that's obviously connected to my eMac via CAT5 cable. I set up the printer for wireless, hoping my eMac would use the router as a card-substitute type deal. Well it doesn't. Cannot connect as if it were not there.

OS X :: Networking - Windows 7 Desktop With File Sharing But Not Home Group On

Nov 28, 2010

I bought a Mini yesterday and am attempting (read: failing) to set up my home network. Here is what I have: Netgear WNDR3700 home network with a WPA2 wireless network. A Windows 7 (completely updated) desktop with file sharing but not home group on. I have even deactivated my windows firewall while attempting to set this up. A Mac Mini running OSX 10.4 with Windows Networking activated

I originally hoped to plug my mac mini in and, while I was quickly able to browse the web, I was less than successful in accessing my shared files that are on my windows 7 machine. I then deactivated the homegroup and simply "shared" the folders via right-clicking and sharing to all users on the network. I am unable to see the mac mini when opening up the network which was the first sign of trouble. I have all of the file sharing options on Windows 7 and Mac Mini checked (network discovery, etc.) but do not have any luck. The farthest success I have reached was I manually entered the ip of my windows 7 pc on the mac mini and while I saw the shared folders, they were empty. Note: I do have identical user accounts set up between the two computers, with the same user name and no password.

OS X :: Connecting New MacBook Pro To Vista Home Premium PC

Oct 11, 2009

I'm connecting my new Macbook Pro 15" running Snow Leopard, to my home network and of course it hooked up with my wireless router right away. I have a NAS hard wired to a wireless router. The Mac sees all the folders and files just fine and can read/write. I have a Vista Home Premium PC hard wired to the same wireless router. The Users Folder is shared with full privileges as are the individual users folders. The firewall is off. It runs no "security software". The Mac can see the Vista PC and also see the Users individual account folders but when I open them I can't see any of the files. I really don't know what direction to go. The Vista PC networked fine with an older Toshiba laptop that the Mac replaced.

OS X :: Unable To Install Wireless Printer / Already Have A Similar Printer Set Up

Jan 15, 2010

I got a new HP wireless printer, and the mac suggested setting it up with the USB first, and then disconnecting once it was configured. I did all that. The mac asked to choose a wireless network for the printer, I did. Then the set up CD asked me to add a printer to the qeue from system preferences from the menu- when I clicked my printer was already added. None the less I followed the direction, and then got the message "You already have a similar printer set up, would you like to add this too?" I clicked YES, and then continue.

When I clicked on continue, the set up cd (or mac) told me that I had NOT set up a printer from the Queue (sorry about spelling), even though I had. So when I clicked continue, it told me the printer was not recognized in the wireless network, and now I'm stuck with plugging it in the usb. Please I know this sounds confusing, but why is this happening and what do I do to get the mac to recognize my printer? Apparently its not.My wireless signal is fine, I checked.

MacBook Pro :: Its Shutting Off The Home Wireless Network?

Mar 31, 2012

I've been reading through some of the other MBP wi-fi issues but couldn't find anyone discussing what I'm dealing with so I wanted to put this out there.

I got a MBP earlier this week and, it seems like after powering down or shutting the MBP and reopening it, my wi-fi network at home shuts down or isn't recognized.  When this happens, I have to unplug my airport extreme and turn the internet on and off on my cable router so the wi-fi signal can be recognized on my wireless devices.  It's not just the MBP (running Lion 10.7.3) that can't find the wi-fi when this happens; my MacBook (running OSX 10.5.8), my TV with wi-fi and my wife's iPhone lose their signals also.  The airport extreme and my cable router still are showing that they're running when this happens (green light on airport).

It only seems to happen when the MBP has been powered down or closed.  Not sure if it has something to do with the airport extreme router that's in the MBP.  It doesn't seem that anything is actually turning off the airport extreme but none of the devices can recognize the wi-fi signal after this happens.  Turning off and on the airport from either of the computers doesn't seem to do anything.  It requires a reboot to the airport.

Hardware :: Macbook Won't Connect To Wireless Home Network?

Jan 14, 2008

I have a Netgear wireless router that is about 4 years old and has the latest firmware installed. Until now, I have had only Windows computers connected wirelessly and it has worked fine. We just got a new Macbook. When I try to connect to our network, it finds the network name but goes nowhere once I have entered the passphrase. Not being familiar with Macbooks I'm not sure what I'm missing. I did see somewhere that older versions of Airport required either a '$' preceeding the password or that the password should be enclosed with "". None of these things helped. What am I missing?

By the way, according to the Netgear docs, this router should work with Macs.

Macbook Wireless Internet Doesn't Work At Home

Hardware :: Non Wireless Printer For Wireless Printing?

EDIT: Would an Airport Express do the job?

If the MacBook is on and the iMac is off the Internet works on the MacBook and vice versa. Is there anyway a firewall is preventing both computers from connecting to the same wireless network? If so, is there anything you can do to help me out to get them both working properly?A netgear router that was provided by time warner is being used and I'm not sure if y'all need anymore information than that.
