View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering whether my macbook would be compatible with the apple 30" display. Here are the specs of my macbook:
1 gig of ram
2ghz
GMA X3100 graphics card
1 mini dvi slot (i have an adapter to dvi)
2 usb ports
1 firewire port
if you need anything else just tell me.
also please confirm that it will work with the apple 20" and 23" displays. (not the new LED displays, but the aluminium ones released in 2004)

I'm upgrading my 2009 MacBook Pro to the new MacBook Pro with retina display. How do I connect my 24" Apple cinema display to the new Macbook?

I'm talking about if you have Windows set to do nothing and keep running if you shut the lid, useful for downloading large files overnight or something without letting the screen and keyboard get dusty. I've noticed that closing a MBP blocks over half of the ventilation space in the back, so of course it's going to get hotter than normal, and the screen is about 1mm away from the hot aluminum when it's closed, so I'm concerned about the heat damaging the screen. Does anyone have any experience or insight related to this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am aware that Sony (PS3) encodes their signal with "HDCP" and the older cinema displays are not able to read that as a direct signal into the monitor (the new ones are, but thats not what I have. I bought mine with my PowerMac G5 days before they switched to the Intel based Mac Pro's). My question to all of you is is there any kind of converter box or unit I can purchase that would let my 20" ACD display a picture encoded with Sony's "HDCP" signal?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy friend's laptop just broke completely beyond repair (trust me this cannot be fixed without sending it out to hp, who wont fix it either). But any way, his mom and him have come to the conclusion that they are done with PC's, and are making the smart move, and going to Mac. Now, they cant afford an iMac, or a Macbook, so I suggested a Mac Mini. They only have a Samsung monitor for their HP, but I just want to know if a Mac Mini can connect to a Non-Apple Display. Yes I know they need adapters which I will help pick out for them when they go to buy it. I think I have heard it can connect to Non-Apple Displays, but I'm not 100% sure.

the all new

reason i chose this is because its the best in the market. and its brilliant quality stuff...
at least its the best currently in Indian market...
i want to know if it contains or has the capability to connect with DVI port on my nvidia 8600GT...
will it be able to display the same quality.
or will there be any resolution problem with the type of hardware i have?
Is it safe to close up the macbook after long use (and you could fry an egg on parts of the body because its so hot)? will this affect the screen at all with it being so close to the heat when closed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running OSX 10.5.8 on a Macbook Pro, and today I've been unable to connect to the internet via ethernet or wi-fi, unless I'm in safe mode. Then everything seems to work as it should, which makes me believe that this is a software issue rather than a hardware problem. I've tried making a new account with administrator priveleges, but that doesn't solve my issue. Does anyone have any advice on how I can connect to the internet under my normal user account, rather than in safe mode? I should note that I won't be able to get my hands on my repair CD or perform a clean install of OSX because that stuff is at home, and I'm in college. Also, I'm at a university and don't have a router. I just use the campus-wide wi-fi. Finally, my roommate has no problem accessing the internet in our room via ethernet or wi-fi, but I do. Thanks for the help everyone.
