MacBook Pro :: Can A 2011 I5 Run Stronghold 3
May 28, 2012
I have a late 2011 MBP with HD3000 graphics. Will I be able to run Stronghold 3? If not, is there anyway to upgrade the graphic capabilities of my computer?

I've just ordered an i5 Mac Mini and while it's destined to be used as a media-centre/ streamer connected to my TV via HDMI, initially I want to hook it up to the display on my 2011 iMac. Can one of you clever bods point me in the direction of what cable I need, and also what do I need to do to the iMac to make it behave as just a monitor? Is it just a matter of plugging in the cables and off I go?

I bought MBA Mid 2011 last March, and I have updated OSX into the last update. Yesterday I connected my MBA into a server to open several spreadsheet files. I succeded. But then - I don't know exactly what's going on - maybe my MBA went off because I turned on the Power sleep at 15 mins. Then I couldn't turn on my MBA. Battery status was about 80%.

I have a Macbook pro 2011 13" which I keeps shutting down constantly. I erase the macintosh hd drive as suggested, also did the ctr, command, option, p and r step and when i try to reinstall the mac os x snow leopard it goes through the process and gets as far as 3 minutes into installation and then shuts down. Even when I try to install the mac os x lion from the disc utilities screen it goes throu the same process and then shuts down and reboots. it constantly shuts down and reboots.

I am using a rocketfish thunderbolt to HDMI dongle, HDMI cable to the TV. The TV seems to recognize that something is connected, but the message on the screen still says no signal. I've tried the various HDMI inputs as well as the HDMI/DVI input. I use the same HDMI cable to connect to the iPad to the tv without problems.
My Macbook shows "Samsung" under displays, so the machine is connecting to the tv. Could this be a firmware issue on my TV? The TV is approx 3 years old. This is part of the reason I bought this machine

I bought an used macbook pro early 2011 (i5 2.3) and its not charging. With the battery in it the green light doesnt turn on (doesnt charge at all). If I open the macbook and remove the battery the green light turns on and I can turn on the macbook.I have already bought a new battery and its not charging.Could it be the magsafe board? I am asking because the light goes on without battery so I thought that the magsafe board maybe is working.

Recently the buttons on my trackpad stick, as there stuck down even when I touch the pad lightley it responds as though i'm clicking down when i'm not. This means that its perminantly clicking and highlighting. Its so annoying.I have googled it and had so many different answers on how to fix it, some said restart the laptop, some said it is a software problem and some said to tap the trackpad lightly. I have updated my laptop with the update that came through and the pad still sticks, and i have restarted my laptop and it still isnt fixed.
I dont know why this is happening as the laptop is only 8 months old and i take such good care of it. Is there anyway to fix this?

Yesterday morning it took longer than usual to shutdown. I didn't think much of it at the time. After shutting down I put it in my laptop bag, drove to a friends house. When I arrived there it would not turn on. The power cord wasn't displaying any sign of life either. I followed some instructions to reset the SMC via the (left) shift + ctrl + option keys along with the power button. It still wouldn't power on. I took it to the Apple store. The Genius said he'd be back in 5 minutes, he took it to the back room. After 20 minutes he came back and said he had no idea what was wrong with it. He asked if my data was backed up, which it was and then went on to inform me that it would need to be shipped to another facility to troubleshoot it. He warned me that water damage would void my warranty, which shouldn't be an issue considering I've never spilled anything on it. He inspected it in front of me and commented how it still looked brand new.

I own a 2011 Macbook Pro and as stated above I can only hear out of my left ear. I've tried multiple headphones, checked the settings and tried changing the balance and it completely shuts down the music if I move it over to the right ear. I am running OS X Lion as extra information.

I just got a MacBook Pro two days ago. It's been working fine except for one small problem - the track-pad sometimes lags. The problem occurs mainly on the user logon page when you start up the page, and sometimes on Safari, etc. It doesn't occur too often to be a distraction. Should the lagginess be a concern, and does it happen on all MacBook Pros?

I bought a Macbook Pro 15inch in December 2011. It's in good condition but I want the new, thinner Macbook Pro with Retina Display. So i was wondering if there are any exchange policies? Maybe Apple could buy my 2011 Macbook Pro. I'm willing to pay a percentage. I just wanted to know if this is possible and of yes how much I couldf get for my 2011 Macbook Pro.

While my McBook Air was was updating some features of Mac OS X Lion; something went wrong with the network and the update failed a couple of times. After I shut down the pc and tried to start it up again, it seemed like it was starting up but it turns itself off. It just goes in the same loop of startuing up for 5 seconds and before the login screen, it shuts down. The apple logo appears and the turning stick runs a little then it shuts down.I tried to repair disk using disk utilities in the Lion Backup Option, it failed. As I did some research, I need to do it using an external source; but I was not able to create an USB Stick starter without having the OS itself.I try to open the command window in the beginning to start a disk check; but I cannot open the command window. No combination works. When I try to reinstall Mac OS X Lion, I can proceed uptill the point you select the hard drives; but all the drives are locked so I cannot select any of them.

I'm trying to find a simple movie editor ( not expensive ) and my imovie is from 2008 which lacks the slow motion effect I need. I simply just wanted to purchase the most recent imovie but it said I had to have mac OSX 10.7.4 or higher... This is really frustrating. I have a project at school and all I need is to simply slow down my movie!

I have an early 2011 MBP with 4GB RAM installed and i want to upgrade to 8GB but before i do so i have some questions to make. The MBP has 2 RAM slots so my first question is whether the 4GB is 2x2GB or 1x4GB. Will I see any difference in my MBP performance if i do decide to upgrade?the model of the RAM which is compatible with my model.

I was out at the Apple store this weekend and got a chance to play around with the new MBA air. My favourite part had to be the new 13.3" high resolution screen. I especially liked the silver bezel and the fact that it didn't have that annoying (imo) glass covering.
I think a resolution bump is a given for the 13" 2011 MBP but what about the other features of the MBA's screen such as Silver bezel and losing the glass. Ditching the glass would also help lighten the machine.

I am unsure weather to buy now or wait for the 2011 MBP. I have heard rumours around new MBP 2011 coming out Q1 2011. Do you guys think that they apple would rather wait for Ivy Bridge and rather launch in Q3/4 2011 and go for the christmas spike in sales. this also corresponds with they financial reporting period
