I try not to have iCal running because I've got the Dateline app that stays on my desktop. Mousing over that will give me appts and such as I need to have them.
I've found, that opening iCal and messing with the input screen for a new event is kind of cumbersome, and I'm wondering if folks have found a good way to create new iCal events w minimal interaction with iCal itself.
Today 2.5 offers this as a feature, but it's $25. Macworld also had a tip, but running that Automator action opens up iCal in the background.
Are there any other solutions out there?
opened terminal to remove a uncooperative application (MacFace) and it wouldnt open. I would click it and it would bounce once and then nothing would happen. running 10.4.11
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to use my Mail and iCal apps but they will not open. When I click on the icon they both will bounce a couple of times like they are opening then they would stop as if I quit. I have tried to update them but my computer will not let me. I have had this computer for less then a year and it has already crashed on me (dont know if that has anything to do with it).

We have an older IMac (preIcloud) and just purchased a new Macbook Air. Our Iphones are set-up to synch with the IMAC and my calendars on the IMac & the phone look the same. But when I open ICal on the MacBook Air my calendar is missing items?

I have to clean up my calendars in ical.app. At the moment, there are around 10 different calendars mixed from fragments of an Outlook import, mobile phone import, Entourage fragments, new ICal calendars. Can I display all events of a calendar at once in a list, to mark and delete unimportant or double events? Is there a easier way, to edit multiple events from one calendar to another (I have to export a calendar, delete it after export in ical and import it in the calendar, I want it to live in)?

The mouse doesn't move freely. I tried clearing my history, cache and unwanted application and my free memory in my mac s almost around 100gb with 4gb ram. I had quit all unwanted operations through activity moniter but the problem still persists. It is kinda irritating as windows sometimes does. What should I do?

Why is it that every time I open an application, skype for example, a new icon appears on my desktop? But it looks like a hard drive.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I want to open iPhoto a pop-up comes up saying that
" Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable "
It's also asking me to shut down my computer. I want to be able to see my photos but can't.
My MacBook Pro will not open any app or program that requires Internet, even though I am connected to the web. I recently installed Norton AntiVirus and think it may have changed a setting that I couldn't find. I uninstalled Norton and it didn't help. Every time I open Safari, iTunes or any other program that tries to connect to the Internet, it crashes. Strangely enough, Skype still works, but nothing else. I have OSx 10.6.8. I have tried erasing plists, and all the standard troubleshooting, ie resetting modem, restarting computer, reloading Safari from disk.

One thing that annoys me about iCal is that when I hit the shortcut to create a new event, I have to hit another shortcut to bring up the edit window. Ideally the edit window would pop up immediately upon creation of a new event, but I can't find a way to make this happen.
Does anyone know a work-around for this?
Another annoying thing is that I can't just hit Cmd-N to open a new event; I have to make sure I'm in a calendar that can be edited before creating a new event. I don't think there's a fix for this; I think it's just one of those things.
I searched for info about this, but I didn't find anything.
I can access to all i application (iCal, etc) but I can't access to the iDisk.
I try but when I put my Apple ID is refused the acess.

How do I open Adobe Photoshop CS4 from the desktop?
I have tried dragging, copying and it always opens in applications.
I downloaded an app called Cyberduck, and put it in my Applications folder, as you normally would. But when I open it, it immediately closes again. What's weird is if I put the file in any other folder (Desktop, Downloads, etc) and open it, it opens fine, stays open, and works great. If I put it back in my Applications folder, problem returns. This has happened with a few versions of Cyberduck, in a few different 10.6.x versions of OS X, and both on my old iMac and new MBP.I've never seen this with any other program. Any ideas?
View 18 Replies View RelatedFor example, (when Safari or Terminal application is already launched) pressing the dock icon or launching from quicksilver brings the window to the front (or moves to a specific space where the window is in).
Is it possible to modify this behavior to opening a new window? By clicking the dock icon (or some sequence of keyboard shortcuts) I want to open a new window of safari or terminal. Furthermore, it would be great if
this can be done to the current 'space'.
Is there a simple way of doing this?
You know how there is a blue dot underneath an application's icon in the dock representing that the application is running? Is there a way to change this to another color? I don't see any option for it, so I think it's unlikely that it can be changed but if it can I'd appreciate being told how to change it.
