I want Ical to open at login, because I am failing high school (well, math) because I always forget to do my homework, and study. So, Ical is great for that! but I always forget to check it!!! How do I get it to open at Login? I have it on the login items, but all it does it run the program, the actual window with Ical and everything never opens, just makes it run.
I try not to have iCal running because I've got the Dateline app that stays on my desktop. Mousing over that will give me appts and such as I need to have them.
I've found, that opening iCal and messing with the input screen for a new event is kind of cumbersome, and I'm wondering if folks have found a good way to create new iCal events w minimal interaction with iCal itself.
Today 2.5 offers this as a feature, but it's $25. Macworld also had a tip, but running that Automator action opens up iCal in the background.
One thing that annoys me about iCal is that when I hit the shortcut to create a new event, I have to hit another shortcut to bring up the edit window. Ideally the edit window would pop up immediately upon creation of a new event, but I can't find a way to make this happen.
Does anyone know a work-around for this?
Another annoying thing is that I can't just hit Cmd-N to open a new event; I have to make sure I'm in a calendar that can be edited before creating a new event. I don't think there's a fix for this; I think it's just one of those things.
I searched for info about this, but I didn't find anything.
Anyone having problems accessing gmail in Safari today? When I try to access the sign-in page, it tells me that "Safari can't open the page [URL] because your computer isn't connected to the Internet." I am clearly connected to the internet. Also, my Mail.app cannot connect to my gmail account and neither can my GPeek widget.
However, I have no problem accessing gmail via Firefox. I have noticed this problem a few times over the past 2-3 weeks, but though it was a google issue. Today was the first time I thought of trying to access gmail via Firefox, and it does, which points to Safari. Of course, now that I've finished typing this up, I can access gmail via Safari with no problems.
I just used the ical calibration tool to sync ical up with my google calendar and it works like a charm. I love how i can just click on dates in Mail and add them to my iCal which then pushes i to google calendar for my wife to see...that way i can sneak tennis or a round of golf in and she can't say she didn't know
At any rate-i would like to know if there's a way to pull her cal stuff to my ical. I can see all of her stuff on my google calendar, but i dont have the "right" to add her account to ical. I assume i could just have her enter in her login info - but i would like to know if that's the best way.
Trying to get them to talk to each other - I've input the Google account into iCal preferences, and it shows up fine. But I seem only able to sync one way - if I add an appointment in Google Calendar - then sync - it shows up fine in iCal. But if I add an event in iCal and then sync - it doesn't show up on the Google Calandar.
I am trying to use my Mail and iCal apps but they will not open. When I click on the icon they both will bounce a couple of times like they are opening then they would stop as if I quit. I have tried to update them but my computer will not let me. I have had this computer for less then a year and it has already crashed on me (dont know if that has anything to do with it).
during the system has been actualizing and power down i have close my macbook pro.Since these action the mac mail program and ical don't open. When i click on the icons they are jumping but dont open. system preferences is opening but the subfolders like network, dock, cds&DVDs and so on dosn't open. in the status bar there is shown for example loading network but nothing is going on.
We have an older IMac (preIcloud) and just purchased a new Macbook Air. Our Iphones are set-up to synch with the IMAC and my calendars on the IMac & the phone look the same. But when I open ICal on the MacBook Air my calendar is missing items?
I have a number of shares on my NAS that I have linked in my login items, and when I log into OSX I get these on my desktop. The "server" is "afp://NASNAME(AFP)._afpovertcp._tcp.local/SHARENAME". This has worked great for ages, and all that happened when I logged into OSX was that these shares got an icon on the desktop. However, since the "upgrade" to 10.5.8, these shares open up when I log in. This is so irritating; I do not want these shares to open up, just to have an icon on the desktop. What "feature" did Apple screw around with, and what can I do to get back to status quo?
Everytime I upload that ical backup file... nothing happens in google calendar. It does nothing in Firefox... and safari I just get 0 was transferred. I just want to bring over my calendar to google. Does anyone know what is going on? Anything I am missing?
Loaded 10.6 last night and everything appeared to go well. However, when I opened iCal, ALL of my appointments, birthdays, events, etc. had disappeared. Unfortunately I had not backed up iCal before loading SL.
I have good SuperDuper backups of the system and I have Time Machine backups of everything, but I don't see a way to extract the appointment data from those.
I recently updated by 2013 27" iMac to OS X 10.9.3 and since then, I have a weird problem when I switch from one user to another: I often have several user sessions opened for several account, and when I switch from one to the other, or go to the login screen and open an already open session, I find the windows I had left open resized and/or moved. They're often moved to the upper left corner, and resized as if the screen was much smaller than it actually is. It worked without any problem in OS X 10.9.2…
Info: iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.3), Late 2013, 27" screen, 32GB RAM
I cant get my mobile me ical to update ical on my MBP. It says in the ical settings that its connected to the mobile me account. What can I do to fix this?
Okay, not sure if it's the update, or not. But both Mail, and iCal keep crashing. They'll be running fine, then just crash. I removed the Cache folders for both [I read someplace that takes care of it], but it's still happening. I am connecting to an Exchange 2007 Server, so not sure if that has anything to do with it or not? Should I re-create the accounts? Anyone else have this happen?
So I'm working on setting up my new icons(text ones) and I was able to get the whole icon deal working but I can't seem to get the date to stop projecting overtop of the ical icon. Is there anyway to fix this or some resource file I can delete to stop it? I've already backed up the resource files so deleting stuff is okay.
I have looked extensively to no avail. Is there any way to have iCal give me a reminder or alarm when people's birthdays that are in iCal are coming up? This would be of great help if it is possible.
I've been searching for a way to import a CSV calendar file (intended for Outlook) into iCal. I googled this problem extensively and found a free on-line translator, but it did not work on the file I would like to import. I believe a commercial product can also do the deed, but I really don't want to cough up a bunch of money just to have this one file translated.
