It is supposed to be the best burning package on mac. But I doubt it. I convert videos to dvd-video format using the absolutely brilliant windows7 application convertxtodvd. Please dont tell me to use a mac application instead of it. I tried it many times, there were always several problems(slow speed, subs etc). This is not the case here.
So, I want these dvd-videos in Video_ts format, to be burned in dvd disks using toast. It is supposed that video_ts folder are a standard folder, no matter the system you use. But toast has a different opinion. When I drag the folder in the dvd-video window, it asks to re-encode the video!!!If I try to burn this video_ts folder in windows machine using 'nero', no problem at all, straight burning! I really cannot understand why this happens.
Another problem I have is that the files I want toast to burn, usually reside to network computer. Is there any way to burn files from a network computer(win) using toast? Can toast access network or not? If not, I have to manually copy files to local disk, several minutes spent for copying gigabytes just to be able to burn them.

My new DVD burner will play CDs and DVDs and burn CDs, but will not burn DVDs through the finder. Will getting TOAST definitely enable me to burn DVDs? I don't really need it otherwise and I would rather not buy it unless it will definitely enable me to burn DVDs.

I am trying to back up some DVD is I OWN.I used MTR to get the Video_TS folder on my HD.I have been trying to get Burn to create a disk that will work on my stand alone DVD player (which supposedly supports DVD -/+R and RW well as DivX).WHICH TYPE OF DISK DO I TELL BURN TO CREATE? I've been trying to burn on to dual layer disk i.e 8.5 GB.Video_TS foldeer is 7 GBIf I chose the DATA TAB tell Burn to create a "DVD-video disk" I get a disk that my computer can play in the DVD App that functions like a DVD, BUT my stand alone DVD player won't recognise it. (tells me its a DATA disk).

Am thinking of getting the Air and would be interested in hearing from anyone who tries Logic Studio (8 or 9) on it.
I know it won't handle as much as my 24" iMac or have nearly as much screen real estate, but it would be nice to be able to record multitrack with a compact USB audio interface and I'm curious to find out how the SSD factors in.

Last Saturday, I purchased the 15" 2.53 GHz Macbook Pro (the new one that has the battery built into it). Everyone in the store told me it would run FCS2 fine, but after I checked online, it seems that may or may not be the whole truth. Here are the specs:
2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
SuperDrive 8x (DVD-R DL/DVD-RW/CD-RW)
SD card slot
Built-in 7-hour battery2
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
I need something portable so I can take the projects I'll be working on along with me and due to financial reasons, I neither want the 17" or the 15" (2.8 GHz) MBP. I have a 1TB Firewire 800 WD external HDD, so I'm not worried about space. What I am worried about is rendering speed and such. So, my questions are:
1. Is this MBP sufficient enough to run FCS2?
2. Should I keep this same MBP but upgrade to the 7200rpm drive?
3. Should I pony up another $300+ and get the 2.66GHz MBP with the 7200rpm drive?
4. Taking into account what I've said, what is my best configuration to run the FCS2 suite?

Last week I ordered my Macbook Pro with the 2.4 Ghz cpu and I was quite sure the cpu will do the application. But now I've read some threads about Logic Studio, where people say that Logic supports Hyperthreading and therefore I doubt that my macbook will last for the next years. Maybe a better cpu will last longer.
The problem is that I cannot cancel my order anymore .
What do you think about the cpu's in reference to Logic and what would you do?

I just bought Final Cut PRO and I'm using DVD Studio PRO. I wanted to make some good DVD for my cousins wedding but the files are .AVI and I can't put them in. I can't believe that such a expensive program doesn't support this format. So, my question is, can I put AVI files on DVD Studio PRO including subtitles?
I just bought MBP and this software, and I am dissapointed in battery life, and now I'm also dissapointed with this software.

Have a free to distribute educational DVD (preparation for a test) that I need to make a copy of for a friend. Downloaded MacTheRipper and copy the DVD. Next I downloaded a freeware program called Burn that looks simple and is all I need. However I when I try to burn I get an error "Failed: There was a problem authoring the DVD" Also I tried to use the burn to a data DVD mode and it wrote the data to the DVD (you can physically see it's there) but when it got to finalize I got the same error message and you can't read the DVD contents. I have a new Mac Pro running 10.5.3 and the DVD drive is OEM PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-112D.

I used Handbrake to rip encode the dvd to mp4. Now I want to burn it to a DVD for a cheap backup.
mp4 is 1.4gb
I keep getting an error saying the data I'm trying to burn is over 4 gb's and too big for my blank disc. How's that possible?
Shouldn't I be able to burn the mp4 to a dvd easily in iDVD?

New to iMac, just trying to do something I could do on the PC without any trouble. Can't seem to get the burn folder to burn to a new CD-R. Can't seem to get the iMac to recogmize that there is a CD in the drive.
Have tried more than one CD. It does eject, but stalled out on the transfer.
I miss my PC. this has taken an hour for something that should be--well--easy.

I've got Final Cut Pro running, but when I install Motion 4's content discs (downloaded, in .toast, from a bunch of links on Megaupload), it failed. Anyone has any idea if this app even works on this MBP?
Am really trying hard to get Motion running on this.

I run a small Web Development business. I use Microsoft tools: Visual Studio and SQL Server (mostly), so the logical choice is to stay on Windows. But I'm not a logical guy. I actually was on the Mac bus not long ago... went through an iMac and then the 13" Macbook. I loved them to pieces, really. After a while, I grew a bit tired of the really small form factor and having to launch a noticeably slower virtual machine to use Windows (I used VMware at the time). I went back to Windows pretty much for business reasons. Now I'm getting the itch to go back to Apple. Why? Their design, look, and feel is a big reason. I also did more exploring when I was on Mac; researching stuff in my field away from the MS world that did open my eyes to new ways of handling development with my business. In a perfect world I would get the 24" iMac but since I run my own business I should stay mobile. Therefore I'm looking at the low-end Macbook Pro. Here are a couple of questions I have:1.) How is Windows in Bootcamp? If I were to go back, I think I would go that route to have as much speed as possible. Especially since the low-end starts with 2 gig ram (grrr)

I'm looking for real-world advice from people who run multiple storage devices for audio recording using SSD - am I best to run dual SSD's OR 1 SSD and 1 ATA hard drive for a dedicated platform for recording audio in a project studio?
I'm moving to a Macbook Pro from Windows (no smart comments now) and need the best performance for as long as possible.
I record rock songs with 40 (or more) audio tracks with signal processing plugins on Ableton Live - I will also use Logic Pro. I also use BFD for my drum tracks which is CPU, RAM and disk instensive.
I've settled on the 15" 2012 MacBookPro with a hi-res display - I have a Focusrite Liquid Saffire 56 firewire audio interface. I already have an OWC 250GB SSD + OWC 8GB RAM upgrade + OWC optical bay HDD caddy to fit.
So WHICH config is BEST for my long term audio recording?
1. OWC 256GB SSD for boot and apps and Apple 750GB 7200RPM HDD in optical bay for audio/temp files?
2. Apple 750GB 7200RPM HDD as boot/apps/temp and OWC SSD in optical bay for audio files?
3. Apple 128GB SSD for boot/apps/temp and OWC 256GB SSD in optical bayfor audio files?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.

Anybody on here using Logic Studio? If so, how do you find it?
I've read that logic 8 is poor on time stretching / elastic audio, anyone have first hand experience? Any sign of an update to Logic Studio, it'd be annoying to buy it only for it to be updated in a few months.

Can I run Logic Pro Studio on a single 1.8 G5? The specs say I need a dual processor for some of the things that need to be done.
It's actually not for me but for a musician who is a relative of mine --
-- this is the 8 gig total ram single 1.8ghz.
Does anyone know if this will just choke on Logic Pro?
