View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently i dont know what has happened to my mac but what ever i do i can't get the screensaver to auto start it will start with hot corners but anything else not a chance.
I have tried repairing the permissions but at a loose end now and dont want the screen burning.
Stange one this ( or really obvious and I just can't see the answer ).
I have transfered a CAD program to another computer so I can leave it up and running to do a really long render - several days worth.
So I transfered all relevant files to the new machine ( 17" MBP 2.8 ) - and the programs and files run fine. However the programs control windows were collapsed to a single bar - no problem I thought, I'll just double click them to uncollapse them. But that didn't work, either with the trackpad or the mouse.
I then tried double clicking in windows on other programs, and this didn't work.
So the nub of the problem is that on the new machine the double click feature doesn't work.
How do I turn it on? I've tried looking at System Preferences / Trackpad etc. and can't see the answer.
I have the Wired Apple Keyboard and I'm wondering why it wont work with my PS3? People say it works with it but its a no go for me.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi sent an html email to three different email accounts that i have set up on my iphone - gmail, mac.com, and a personal pop server. the email is pretty basic html - a simple table of text with just one image.both the gmail and personal pop accounts received the formatting properly, but for the mac.com account, it showed up as a mime-html attachment instead. is there anything that i can do to prevent that?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have no idea what happened. it was working fine last week, and then the other day I tried to open up iMovie and i get "The operation could not be completed / An unexpected error occurred (error code -10810)" This happens every time i try to open anything in my applications folder. the programs on my dock open up fine.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just got a used dual 2.0 power mac, model 7,3. It is running Leopard 10.5.8, which was just installed before purchase.
Everything seems fine with it until I try to install a dmg file into my applications folder. The computer then freezes and I get a bunch of code gibberish on my screen.
After I bought and installed Snow Leopard, I realized some of the most important apps that I use do not work under the new OS and I've been waiting for weeks (months maybe) for some update from the developers but seeing as they are more likely to wait, I've decided to downgrade back to Leopard again, the thing is that I'm on a VERY tight schedule these weeks, I have a lot of deadlines to meet and I don't want to install the apps that do work on Snow Leopard back again in Leopard. I don't have a Time Machine backup from back when I was on Leopard, and I haven't even made one of SL either, just an external HHD with my data (but no apps).
I've read online that people are having a hard time downgrading because there are a lot of errors in Time Machine and Migration Assistant, the most common one I've read about is that the Migration Assistant does not allow you to migrate from a newer OS to an old one. Since the most important thing I wanna migrate are the applications I've already installed in SL, this would be counterproductive.
I'm using an iMac with an SSD and a second HD. I want to know whether there is any way I can set which hard disk I want apps from the Mac App store to install rather than it all installing by default on the SSD.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI set up my SL with CS4 + iWorks, and a few other apps, and now my system takes more than two seconds to shut down like when I first installed it. Anyone else experience this?
View 3 Replies View Relatedalright I'm a new mac user so i hope i dont get too much hate but i have a weird problem (i guess) when installing apps. When i drag the app to the applications folder then drag it to my dock, it shows the icon fine on the dock, but in the applications stack in my dock it doesnt. ill post a picture to show what i mean.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a 2007 2.2Ghz "Santa Rosa" MBP, which I've had quite the problems with for the past 3 (soon to be 4) years. Just starting this week, if I'm on Safari or iChat for instance, Mac OS X freezes and everything stops... yet the mouse cursor can still move. Very soon, the screen starts flashing black and white over the frozen screen (with Safari, iChat, or whatever still open and visible behind the intense flickering). This flickering only goes on for a few seconds though; but the system remains frozen, requiring a manual shut-down and reboot.
Any ideas what's going on? It just started recently. Software has been completely up to date. Somehow I'm paranoid that the graphics card issue is coming back to haunt me again (I've had it replaced once already) but it doesn't seem like that's it.
I was wondering what you do to get the oil smudges off of your blackbooks body? I cant seem to get them off. I have tried some lysol wipes which helped, but not much. I dont want to use gloves everytime I use my Mac

I've recently installed more ram into my macbook pro, and now the keyboard and trackpad doesn't work. My wireless mouse does work however. I tried taking the new Ram out and turning the computer back on that way, but the keyboard still won't work.

When installing apps through Installer (from .dmg disk images and .pkg packages), everything works smoothly until it asks me for a password. When I enter it, Installer goes back to the screen before it asked me for the password. When I click next, it asks me for my password, and the cycle repeats. I tried removing my password to no avail. I can install .pkg files from the sudo installer -pkg command. I dont know how to do this for installers that are in app form.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a Macbook pro Late 2007 with a built-in iSight (of course) and Mac OS X 10.6. Some weeks ago my iSight started to be not recognized by software like Photo Booth of Skype. As I don't use it frequently I didn't search a solution but now I miss my webcam.
Photo Booth simply show a message like "webcam not connected". I think that the problem started when i uninstalled an app which emulate a webcam from a video file. But I can't remember the name of this app.
I know that the only true iphone simulator for mac is the one in the sdk and I have a few questions about it.
1)Do all iPhone apps work on it?
2)I don't want to become a developer, yet I really want the iPhone simulator. Is there any way i can get it without becoming a developer?
Most of the apps that came with my Mac don't work. Mail, System Preferences, Firefox and Google Chrome all bounce for a bit in the Dock then disappear again. System Preferences sometimes appears, but as soon as I click on something it disappears again. Sometimes is appears twice in the Dock.
My mac is an old DET model, and i got in by cheating. (apple-s on startup, mount -uw /, rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone, shutdown -h now.) Could that have much to do with it? This is a multi-account system and none of these problems are experiences in other accounts made the same way. There are 2 admins and the account with probs are one of them.

Is this going to be a problem when up grading?
Anyone know of any?
After happily using Tiger for years, I finally switched to SL with the purchase of a new 27 iMac. And I hate SL already. I accidentally removed the applications folder from the dock, and when I tried to get it back, it only comes on with the address book icon. Try this to see how retarded SL is: open the applications folder in finder, and drag it to the dock - when you release the mouse, it magically transforms the icon on the dock to an address book icon - why? WTF knows. It's retarded. Really, I've only spent a few hours on SL and I find it so chock full of bugs I wish I could go back to Tiger.

I have a Mac OS X Tiger system and attempt to install windows media player for Mac, it downloads successfully. However once it has downloads the icon appears as blankpage and a .sitx file and when I attempt to open it I get a "there is no default application specified to open the document, choose application" message, I've clicked choose application but can't find one that works. Does anyone know what is wrong, and what I can do to solve it?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've been using my MacBook Pro for about five months with no problems. It's equiped with VMWare Fusion, and I do most of my work there in windows. Saturday, morning, all of a sudden, I started getting the "application quit unexpectedly message" with nearly every application I tried to open in both platforms (Safari and the entry to VMWare). I haven't added any software/hardware lately, and the computer worked well Friday evening.
Any clues as to how I might resolve the situation from here would be greatly appreciated.
I have an ethernet and a wireless internet connection.
With the wired connection everything works fine but when I use a wireless connection ( I have tried this with two t-mobile wireless networks in germany at my own house and at a friend's house) all the apple aplications won't be able to acces the internet.
