I bought two Mushkin pc3-10666 1,333Mhz 4gb ram for my mid 2009 macbook pro 13". When i install both off them, my mac asks me to turn it off while when i install one off them (on its own or in couple with one of the old 1gb intel) it works perfectly, why is that?

I purchased a brand new Macbook Pro from Best Buy a few months back, it is the 13" unibody with a 2.26 ghz dual core processor and came with 2gb of memory installed. I just bought the two sticks of memory from [URL] which were Kingston DDR3 1066 204-pins, 4gb each. My friend told me that my Macbook Pro will only support up to 6gb, but my manual says that it supports up to 8gb. He also said that people have been having trouble with their motherboards by installing too much (8gb) of memory. I've done some research and looks like I'm good to go, but just want some reassurance before I install the new memory. One last thing, he also told me that 8gb is only supported on the i7 processors?

The extension cords I've seen on Amazon and the like all seem quite dodgy, is there any way I can buy the extension cord directly from Apple? I haven't seen it in the online store?

I'm going to be getting an iMac 27" when they come out and just get the stock 2x2GB sticks of RAM that come with it. I want to upgrade to 8GB... but I'm doing 2x4GB so that if I ever decided I wanted to do 16GB (I don't see why, but why not at least have half of it?).
My question is, if I do this, should I leave the 2x2GB sticks in with the 2x4GB sticks? Or should I take them out?
There seems to be some conflicting ideas about what RAM to use. I know you're supposed to do it in pairs, but I don't know how the iMac handles having 4 slots.
Did I do this wrong?
Each bank has a 4gig and a 2gig. I installed them into the machine with the 2x4gig on the left, and the 2x2gig on the right, and the "banks" are apparantly front and back, not side and side.
I installed SL on my hard drive (upgrade from Leopard) and it worked great, just popped in my Intel X25-M G2 160GB today, installed SL.
I checked my About This Mac info and it shows I have ONLY 14GB RAM, I had 18GB before...
Does anyone know why?
I just installed a Seagate 500gb, 7200rpm hard drive in my 13" MBP that was updated to EFI Firmware Update 1.7. Clean install of OS X and iLife '09 & iWork '09 went fast. It's quite and fast compared to my old Samsung 500gb, 5400rpm hard drive. It was worth the $120 I spent on it!

If I held down the power button, I would hear the DVD drive starting up but as soon as I let go, it would power off or if I held it long enough, the light would flash rapidly and then it would power off. I tried resetting the SMC controller, reseating the RAM, different RAM, and even taking the top case off to make sure no cables were loose.

View 8 Replies View RelatedSo I recently downloaded the beta for safari and a couple weeks later out of no where it became compeltly unresponsive, I just get a spinning beach ball when I try to open it. I have attempted to uninstall it and go back to safari 3, unistall and reinstall the beta and I either way I get nothing. I even used time machine to go back and it still wont work. Luckily I had firefox installed so I am using this now. Either way I want Safari back though. I created a test user on my macbook just to see if safari would work and sure enough it works fine on this new test log in. So what does this mean and how can I fix it to work on my normal account?

However, it still works. But I'm just wondering if I should still disassemble it to clean. I'm scared the sugar and coffee will start rotting at some point...
im on a 17 in i7 ag 500gb machine.
i use skype everyday but i just noticed that the sound from skype is coming only from the right speaker. its weird though because any other sounds from skype, like alerts, come from both. all other sounds are fine on the comp. i tried looking through the settings and nothing is there that i saw that could fix this.
How good does it work? Does Snow Leopord run as smooth with the Intel GPU as with the 320M/330M? The intel GPU does not support OpenCL I heard, so when SL will make use of OpenCL alot, you need to activate the 330M all the time then?

is anyone successfully using DragonDictate on MacBook Pro? I have a desktop iMac and DragonDictate works well enough on that but it's not working on my older MacBook (which I need for my office). I'm wondering if I upgrade to a new MacBook Pro if this voice recognition software will work well on it. I've seen other forums where users have had many problems pairing the 2.
