MacBook Pro :: 'Wifi Hardware Not Installed' Message After Firmware /
May 28, 2012
"Wifi hardware not installed" message after firmware and software update to mid-2010 MacBook Pro 13". Already rebooted modem and Ethernet not working. All 00000000 for ip address.
I have a MacBook Air 1st Generation and all of a sudden I have no Wi-Fi connectivity as it displays the above error message ' Wi-Fi: No hardware installed' when I click on the Airport icon. So not only do I not have Wi-Fi connectivity, but even when I connect with and ethernet cable I cannot login to iTunes or the AppStore as it cannot verify my computer.
Info: MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.3), 1st Generation
Can I get a quick survey of people who installed Intel X-25M and Firmware 1.7 on 2009 MBPs? Please mention if you had any problems or no problems at all.
I'm confused why it says "Your computer does not need this update"? It's a MBP4, 1 and has some startup noises and (always has had IIRC) problems with it making noises that don't seem right. I've checked Software Update and there is nothing there (I just ran it and updated a minute ago). I'm curious why it says this, is there a firmware update 1.7 that needs to be installed for the MBP?
I transported my Macbook and when I set it up again it does not connect to the Internet and i get the message "No airport card installed". Does this mean the airport card needs replacing? It also does not read a USB stick.
I had installed yosemite on macbookpro 15inch mid 2009 and after a week later the wifi one day stalled , the computer restarted and a message on the top right read wifi hardware not installed..i have read around the google and some say i need to do something with kext files in the extensions and some say hardware may be fault etc. I can still connect with internet with ethernet cable in osx 10.10.1 under network wifi i have this

I successfully connected to their Wi-Fi system. After a few days a strange problem starting occurring once in a while and I solved it by just restarting the computer, now however, it is stuck with this problem and my temporary solution does not work anymore. The laptop will not connect to the internet and up in the menu bar I see the 'connection meter' all greyed out with a white cross over it. If i click on it it says 'Wi-Fi: No hardware installed'. Run a program called EtreCheck to get a report on the system. This has been posted below. I recently did a complete reinstallation of the system after formatting it. This was because I could not install Windows via Bootcamp, which I have now successfully installed.

So I'm working on my macbook pro (core duo, 2.16, sys 10.6.8) when I notice the battery is running down. I plug it in. Nothing happens, no lights, battery continues to drain. So I go online, when I get the great news that my laptop doesn't think that there's an airport card installed. OK, I try the brick in another magsafe type Macbook, it lights up fine. I try that laptop's power brick in my laptop. No lights, no charge.
This computer was working fine the day before. The battery only has 117 charge cycles.Never had an airport issue. I tried resetting the power thing, (SMC?) the pram, no luck. As far as I know, the computer was unplugged and sitting idle until I started working on it today, transferring some photos from my camera to the laptop.

So i went onto the recovery HD and tried the wifi there and it worked! how can i get the wifi to work on my regular login because the wifi card is still good and if it works in recovery HD mode it should work in regular mode
I bought MBA 13'' mid 2011 about 3 weeks ago in Houston,TX. Today in the morning, after reboot i cannot connect to any Wi-Fi network, because i see wi-fi icon disabled and it is shows: "Wi-Fi: No hardware installed". My MBA running on 10.7.3 MacOs. I've already tried:
1). Remove all setting for network;
2). Reset SMC
3). Reset PRAM;
4). Boot in Windows via Bootcamp (wifi adapter cannot be found as well);
I installed XP pro SP3 on Macbook aluminum 2.4 ghz.Updated all drivers but running windows update downloading < 20 kb/sec. Only downloading on speedtest half what normal wifi runs.
My macbook connects to my wifi connection which is secured without any issues. However it wont let me connect to the internet. I keep getting a message on the airport icon that has an exclamation point on it that says "no internet connection available." Also, when I open up the network settings under the airport settings, it says self assigned ip address can not connect to internet. I have no idea what is going on because all of my other computers and xbox is connecting to the internet just fine. I already tried to restart the router and the modem and I also emptied the cache on the macbook. I tried to call Comcast but they were not very helpful.
Trying to print from a web site (only one) and I get a message "Java Not Installed". It is because I can find preferences. I imagine I need to change one but don't know what. Suggestions? OSX 10.5.8
Just received SuperDrive Firmware Update 3.0, MacBook EFI Firmware Update 1.4, and AirPort Client Update 2009-002 1.0 on Software Update for 13" Unibody MacBook.
So, husband booted from OSX disc, wiped computer using disc utility, now it won't reinstall from the same disc. He says the error message is "Can't be installed on this computer." When I asked what disc he used, he says it was "the only one that let me start up from it." I believe it is disc one of the mac osX install disc version 1.0. He said the disc that was labeled for the G5 wouldn't let him boot up. He is ranting now about there being no difference between PC's and Apple. If you can, please tell me how to fix this, or at least how to get the disc out while it is the computer's startup disc. He's about ready to to hit the wall.
Update: Got the disc out and am now attempting to install from G5 OSX disc but getting the "this software cannot be installed on this computer" message. Why? It is the right disc!
All of a sudden can't play videos. I get a message that the correct version of flash is not installed. I have download the lastest flash version for my operating system but still can't play videos. I still get the same message - flash is not installed. If I check system preferences, flash is listed as installed. If I check for plug- ins in Safari I do not see flash. What do I need to do?
When I try to open itunes on my mac mini, I get a message that the file is corrupted or not installed properly. Do I need to uninstall itunes and then re-install it? If so, how do I do that?

All of a sudden my macbook A1278 late 2008 doesn't connect to the WiFi network and displays the message Wi-Fi: No hardware installed. (it connects fine with a cable)
Intel X25-M 160GB, how do I find out if it has the latest firmware v1.5 from Dec 8, 2009. And is the Solid State Drive Toolbox v1.3 from Mar 22, 1010 worth downloading?Intel's download/support page doesn't tell you how to know if your SSD has the latest firmware or not.
I was travelling and added a firmware password a few months back, I now want to disable this to install Ubuntu on a partition of my MacBook - but there are no directions how to in the utility.I looked at the Apple doc I originally used to set the password: [URL]/HT1352, and I cannot find a companion document for taking it off. So, if anyone knows how I go about doing this,
When I leave desktop and several minutes it will become sleep itself and return to use it. but Wi-Fi not connection i check status in menu bar and said Wi-Fi: No hardware installed strange i used to use Wi-Fi now its gone?
When I want to REPLY to a message, I do not automatically get a 'send' icon after composing the message. I have to save it as a draft and then send it.
My 2010 15" MBP has constant Wifi dropouts, sometimes minutes at a time. Sometimes I have to reconnect. Yet it gets 4 bars. My MacBook never had these problems. It's generally slower, too. It's now useless for online video like Hulu. Anyone else seeing this? I wonder whether it's hardware (e.g. they moved the antenna, and/or because of the metal case) or software/drivers? I'm going to submit feedback after input from ya'll.
I have a pretty old Titanium Mac Book that runs OS 10.3.9. It's a moderately slow machine, but still works- and although I realize that it won't be able to stream video or anything, I figure it would work for email, and basic web browsing- But I'm wondering if it's going to be compatible with any new products such as a USB wifi antenna - because the room where I want to use it won't alow for an ethernet connection- Also, will the old 10.3.9 OS allow me to connect wifi to the newer airport extreme base stations?
MacBook. 2Ghz Intel Core Duo. OS Snow Leopard 10.6.6. I'm running a 2006 MacBook with Snow Leopard. A few months back it started dropping wifi connection. Airport would show no connection but would list my network along with others in my building. If I tried to connect with my WPA password it would just time out. At this time I was running Leopard.
Since then I've done a few things.Tried running the Netgear router with no encryption at all (same thing happens). Will lose connection and then time out trying to connect I've tried the MacBook in a coffee shop with wifi access and at my parents (same NetGear router) and at my new apartment with a horrible Orange Livebox. Taken the MacBook in to see the genius bar at Glasgow Apple store. Worked fine for them, but I explained it was intermittent but we could not force it to fail. I'm sure if it ran for an hour it would. At present if I have the MacBook in the living room (where the Livebox router is situated) its fine and wont drop connection. If I walk some 5m to my bedroom it will work for approximately half and hour and then lose it. A few days ago I bought the Snow Leopard upgrade and installed it last night. MacBook runs a hell of a lot faster (yay!) but moving it away from the router and its dead as disco in half an hour.
So to clarify, the MacBook has been tested on 4 wifi networks/ locus with same issue. iPhone, Xbox 360 and PS3 all have no issues with dropping connection no matter where they are in the apartment.
Apartment is a new build and its walls are not made out of lead or kryptonite. Is this a hardware issue rather than software? When updating to Snow Leopard it was an update to the existing OS of Leopard not a clean install.

Installed a new 750GB drive into my MacBookPro 5.1 Couldn't get Winclone to make image so I was forced to start from scratch with a new XP installation.
My MBP is partitioned 25%Mac & 75%XP with bootcamp and I have the old drive in a enclosure connected with a firewire. So all of old files are on the external drive now.
After installing XP I have no internet connection, drivers etc... However if I boot up on the mac side everything works fine. (I cloned the mac os already with Carbon copy).
So can I just copy all my old drivers over to the new drive? If yes how and if no how do I get them installed on the new harddrive. The MBP came with everything preinstalled.
