MacBook :: Battery Loses Power Fast?

May 23, 2012

I bought a new battery for my 4 year old macbook aluminum, but the new battery loses power almost as fast as the old battery. Is there something wrong with my computer or is it the battery?

MacBook Air :: Battery Drains Extremely Fast In Sleep Mode / Battery Down To 16% From 29%

Jan 6, 2009

I get the whole part about that I set my laptop to go to sleep in 5 minutes, and if I close the lid it'll go to sleep, and the little light at the bottom starts to pulse, etc. But in sleep mode, my battery seems to drain extremely fast!

For my old Gateway M275 laptop while in sleep mode, it would probably lose about 5-7% of it's battery in a day's duration. With my MacBook Air, I just came back to it tonight after a day's worth of sleeping, and my battery was down to 16% from 29%. And to check, it was indeed sleeping!

MacBook Pro :: Battery Slowly Loses Charge While Plugged In

Sep 2, 2010

just curious, does anyone else's MBP's battery slowly lose charge over time even though it's plugged in? I've got a 2010 MBP 13". Mine only is ever at 100% right after I have used the battery and just recharged it. then it will slowly lose that charge over time until I unplug it, use the battery enough for it to actually charge the battery when I plug it in. (Oh, and coconut battery has never said it ever had 100% full original battery capacity, best it ever said was 97%).

MacBook Pro :: Brand New Battery Loses Charge While Plugged In

Aug 7, 2009

my laptop is less than a month old, but i've noticed when it's plugged in (i don't run on battery power), the battery percentage is going down. not the capacity, but just how much charge the laptop has. (excuse me if i'm using the wrong terms). and in about one-two weeks, the battery goes down past 95% and it starts charging itself.

Laptops :: MacBook Pro Loses Battery Charge With Cover Closed?

Nov 13, 2010

I just bought a new MacBook Pro with a solid state (flash memory) disk. The battery life is good while I'm using it, but if I leave it with the cover off for a few days (asleep, I assume), it'll be mostly discharged when I open it up. I assume this isn't normal - it shouldn't be losing that much charge when closed and hibernating. I don't have "wake for ethernet access" checked, if that makes a difference. What's going on - why won't it hibernate?

MacBook :: If Battery Is Always There And Macbook Is Connected To Magsafe The Battery Die Fast

Jun 7, 2009

I get my first macbook yesterday. Loving it! Got the White model, the first refresh of the year, just before this june refresh, buy I don't care.

So, here's the deal. I gonna use this machine 80% of the time in my home, not gonna move it from the desktop. So I'm using right now without battery, connected to the macsafe. Should I keep it that way? or I need to put the battery? Because I heard that if the battery is always there and the macbook is connected to magsafe, the battery die fast. I also don't know if that I'm doing is safe for the Macbook, to say without batery.

When I first remove the batery, something really strage felt off the macbook, was like a tiny tiny tiny little metal, works well without it, but I want to be sure that's nothing importante.

OS X :: Shut Down UMPB But The Battery Still Loses Charge?

Sep 29, 2009

I thought when you shut down a mbp, that means you power it off completely and no drainage should occur.

Every time I turn off my mbp late at night around 1am and turn it back on in the morning around 10, I seem to lose about 1% charge. I'll have 100% go down to 99% or I'll start off at 99% and in the morning, wake up to see its at 98%.

Also, I recently downloaded the Deep Sleep widget and tried it out. Going into Deep Sleep actually preserved my battery charge at where it was.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Draining Really Fast?

Mar 30, 2012

Recently I've been noticing that my MacBook Pro's battery has been draining really fast.  It's draining about 5% every 7 minutes.  The battery condition is normal and it only has about 290 cycles on it.  My brightness is turned all the way down, bluetooth is off and the only application I have open is Google Chrome, and I'm only using it to do some light browsing.  Does anyone have this same problem? I have a MacBook Pro (mid-2010) running the latest version of Lion?

MacBook :: Its Battery Goes Down Unbelievably Fast

Apr 14, 2012

I bought my white Macbook less than two years ago, and updated to Lion last summer. But I recently found that the battery goes down very fast, it could be down to 50% within an hour even though it has just been charged. And for the laptop itself, it gets hot very easily! What's the problem of my Macbook?

MacBook :: Why Battery Not Charging Properly - Die So Fast

Jun 4, 2009

My battery was at 100%, but I unplugged it for about 15 minutes while I was still working and it was at 96%. I plugged it back in, but it won't charge. It says battery is charged instead of __ until charged. Why won't it charge, and why does it die so fast? Screen brightness is all the way down and I'm only using firefox and word.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Running Down Incredibly Fast

Jul 29, 2010

My last battery popped, and on Monday, Apple store gave me a new one. The lady told me that it was best not to keep the power connected all the time. So I charged it to 100% and pulled the plug. It runs down incredibly fast. This morning it's been unplugged for almost an hour, doing just a bunch of web searches, and it's already down to 37%. This isn't normal, is it? I was able to watch a 2 hour movie on a full charge for my old battery. Does the charge get better over time?

MacBook Air :: Battery Drains Too Fast When Sleeping?

Apr 30, 2012

I purchased a Macbook Air 2011 in December. It came with Lion preinstalled and it is up-to-date. Sometimes I experience excessive battery drains when the computer is asleep (lid closed), i.e. 40%-50% battery charge gone overnight.

This is not an expected behavior. The battery seems to perform well when the system is running, i.e. it last for 5-6 or more hours, so I think the problem is with the sleep mode. How can I diagnose sleep problems? Is this due to WiFi or running programs?

I use first-gen unibody 15 inch Macbook Pro. I rarely shutdown and leave it sleep. However, sleeping somehow drains battery quite much. For example, after one day of sleep, my battery goes from 100% to about 60%. My previous Santa Rosa macbook pro never did this. My current setting is sleep and hibernate. I checked it in SmartSleep.

MacBook Pro :: Early 2011 Battery Draining Too Fast?

Jul 4, 2012

After installing the update for Mac OS (10.7.4) my battery starts too drain too fast. As usual after 100% charge my laptop showing me time near 5 or 6 hours. Of course I understand that this number is relevant, but i always get this numbers when using not so heavy apps (Safari, Mail, Pages, Twitter and iTunes), but now i can see only 2 or 3 hours. After long searches i found the problem. My MacBook Pro 15 inch have problem with graphic-card changing, it always changes to AMD Radeon card when I start Twitter or Reader! I think that Twtitter is not so heavy app that must use diskrete grpahic-card. And because I always run Twitter in background my MacBook Pro's battery drains in a few hours.

OS X :: White Macbook Runs On AC Power (no Battery) But Not On Battery?

Apr 29, 2010

Just wondering if anyone has ever encountered this or if any experts out there know of the issue.I have a spare White Macbook (late 2008: Core 2 Duo 2.1GHz, 1GB, 120GB) that I'd like to set up for my brother to use to introduce him to the wonderful world of Macs. The problem it is having is that when I have a battery connected to it (I tried 2 different ones included a known-good one that is brand-new just purchased from Apple) it powers on and gives me the chime, but then immediately shuts off unexpectedly giving that little "whine" sound like if it just lost power all of a sudden. However, when i take out the battery, and just plug it into the Magsafe AC charger it works fine. Also when just trying to run on battery it does not turn on at all. Here's some cliffs:

1) Macbook with just battery does not turn on
2) Macbook with battery + Magsafe AC charger connects powers on, gives the chime, but then immediately shuts off making the "whine" sound as if the power was suddenly cut off
3) Macbook with no battery connected and just the Magsafe AC charger connected works fine.Do you guys think this is either:

A) battery connector issue (the little piece with the metal wires that the battery connects to. ~$50 part)
B) Logic Board issue

I already tried resetting the PRAM and SMU to no avail.

MacBook Pro :: Battery Running On Reserve Battery Power

Jun 18, 2010

I just turned on my 13" MBP and got this message. Apparently, this is supposed to come up when there is only like 5% charge left. My battery indicator at the top of the screen said there was 22% charge left. Also, according to IStat, my battery's health has already dropped down to 97% after only about 2 weeks and 5 cycles. Is this normal? I'm going to try recallibrating my battery by fully charging it and then letting it fully drain. Is there a good chance that this solves this problem?

Desktops :: CRT IMac Battery - Failing Fast

Jul 13, 2010

the PRAM battery clearly is failing fast. After two assurances from a large local computer seller/repairer (Best Buy) that they could indeed go to her apartment, and after acquiring the correct battery for her, I have now found out that they won't go to her apartment because the computer is more than six years old. Dead end there! Does anyone know of a place in New York City (or an individual) that would both visit her apartment and be sufficiently conversant with the innards of such an old Mac that there would be a good chance that the battery will be replaced without harming the computer? There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it besides the failing PRAM battery, but Barbara is willing to pay handsomely to have her baby fixed, even if it means having the person go over it with a fine-tooth comb and charging accordingly. The computer is extremely heavy, or I'd take it in to the Best Buy store myself, and though we could get it into a taxi (with help from a doorman), there is the problem of getting it into the store and downstairs, where the repair area is. I'm strong but probably, not strong enough to do it, and we don't know anyone who could help. Any thoughts? There are multitudes of repair places and individual repairers in NYC, and many who visit people's apartments, but we clearly need someone who knows very old iMacs intimately and is not afraid to approach the problem.

MacBook Air :: "Proper" Battery Usage For New - Aka Power Supply Vs Battery?

Nov 29, 2010

As I just bought a 13" MBA, I am still in my "babying" phase of the machine and want its battery power/capacity to last as long as possible. I have already done the battery calibration recommended by Apple (not even sure if its 'necessary' but I did it anyways), with charging, resting, draining, resting, and re-charging. But now I am worried about the battery cycles. Should I only plug my MBA in when the battery is close to being drained (aka use it on battery power for most of my usage?) or is it okay to drain the battery to like 80% remaining, charge, and then drain to 70% remaining, then charge again? Im not sure if Im making sense, but basically I don't want to be wasting these valuable cycles, as they seem to determine battery health and longevity. So what is the proper battery usage for the MBA, or is it basically use off power when you want and use on power supply when its available?

I've tried the "remove the battery, press the power button, plug in the magsafe" troubleshooting process, but it doesn't work.I've noticed that even with the battery out, the charger reads a green light.I've tried several outlets with the same results. Here are my battery stats

PowerPC :: Powerbook G4 Won't Power Up - Battery Indicator Showed One Flickering Power Circle?

My girlfriend has a 12 inch Powerbook G4. She noticed that the battery life was starting to dwindle. Tonight, she tried using it. It wouldn't power up. The battery indicator showed one flickering power circle. The adaptor has the green circle on it, indicating the battery has a full charge. However, the computer won't charge up.I've read the 12 inchers don't have separate PMUs. Could that prevent the machine from starting? MacBook Pro :: 10 Min To Power Up When Battery Is Down?

Jul 29, 2010

I have a mid-2007 MBP. Here is my issue...it's been more than a year that when I totally discharge my battery (meaning the MBP shuts down), when I connect it back to the charge it is taking abotu 10 minutes to power up again...it was not the case before and my wife's MB is working well....meaning when it is down, just connecting the charger the MB is back on within a sec.

I have changed my battery but it did not change anything, I called Apple and they recommended me to restore snow leopard...which I did...I still have the same issue.

Does anyone experience this? Any idea what is happening (HW or SW issue) and is there a potential fix?

Battery Won't Power MacBook

Jun 21, 2012

I have just bought a second hand MacBook laptop and it has a wierd battery issue that can't seem to find mentioned anywhere.Initally all seemed fine, but then I noticed the battery wasn't charging and the battery menu reported no battery found, also the MagSafe plug had not light; some searching instructed me to reset the SMC which I did, and everything was fixed, I could runs the computer from the battery and the power lead charged the battery. But now (just a day later) the battery won't power the computer at all - the computer will only work if the power is connected - however the light is shown on the MagSafe plug and the battery is being changed, but if I disconnected the power lead, first I see the restar/sleep/shut down dialog that you see when pressing the power button, then shortly after the computer turns off, if the power if reconnected, it boots from scratch, so it wasn't asleep!
