View 1 RepliesI love my MacBook Pro -it's used all the time in schools, without hassle.
However, when I try to connect to a Sony VPL ES1 data projector, the screen resizes (normal and OK) but the data projector shows a completely different desktop image and I can't see a cursor.
Presume this is a bug, but is there a work-around I'm missing?
There was another thread on this that I found via Google, but now I can't seem to find it again. I have to occasionally hook up my Macbook (not a Pro) to various digital projectors at different companies. I bought the $20 attachment thing. I brought it in and have not been able to get any projector to recognize it at all. This is on several different projectors. I try hooking it up both before and after turning the computer on and it doesn't work. I went to "Display" in System Preferences but there is nothing there about changing the display (to "dual" or "mirror" or anything), it just says "Color LCD" and some preferences about size, bits and stretching. There are no tabs. The worst part is that I teach at a lot of tech companies, so the people there should all know how to fix it, but...1.) can't read English that well, and my Chinese is OK but not *that* good, and 2.) they all use PCs. Macs are like aliens to them. So they can't fix it either. The manual is worse than useless.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI've got a 27" iMac quad-core i7 running Lion and a Sony VPL-CX5 video projector. The projector is no longer support by Sony and Lion doesn't have an included driver to make it recognize the projector as a display device. I'm trying to find some sort of adaptor that the iMac will recognize as a display that will send a video or s-video (or even vga) signal to the projector.

My hard drive decided to quit after only 22 months! Some files were backed up but my current photo albums were not. That's all I really need, I don't care about all the other junk. I've tried booting from the Disk Warrior cd, which Apple Genuis Bar suggested since they don't do data recovery.
So it there another way I can do this myself or should I just bring it to Fry's for $149?
Another question would be, after I recover the files, I'd like to upgrade my MacBook Pro 13 to a Solid State drive. I know I need a 2.5" SATA, but which brand/size is good for a $200-$300 budget?

Does the OWC Data Doubler work with the stock internal HD in the Mid-2010 MBP 15' i5? (Specs: 320GB Serial ATA; 5400 rpm) -from Apple.com [URL] The reason I'm asking this is because I'm planning to switch out the stock internal HD with an SSD (Intel X25-M G2). Then use the stock HD and put it in the optical drive space for data storage.

I am having the following problem when connecting my macbook to my new Sony projector.
The projector is only showing a portion of the computer screen. It seems as if the computer is dividing the notebook screen and the proyector and I can move objects between the two screens. Its like having two displays.
But i dont want this. I just want to have the projector show exactly what the macbook is showing on its screen so that I can watch movies.
How do you connect the air to a projector, what cable do you need.

I was doing a presentation the other day and had some issues. I was connected to a projector and until I rebooted, I was unable to get the projector to project the image on my computer. instead, it was projecting the "milky way" image from somewhere on my computer.

has anyone attempted to hook the brand new MBP Unibody to a projector?
I saw many problems to hook it to an external monitor via VGA or DVI adapter... has anyone attempted it? Is it possible?
I have a presentation by the end of the month and I need to know if I can do it on my Mac with Keynote or have to go with the craptastic Power Point.
What type of adaptors do you need for the new Air to be sure you can use it on all types of projectors?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am looking for some suggestions for a projector that will run, and hook up smoothly on the Air. I don't need top of the line, but maybe around $700.00 is in the budget so far. I want to be able to show keynote presentations, website demos, and maybe some shorter video clips as well.
PS: I did some digging and wondered if the Optoma EP7150 was a good bet. The street price is around 800.00 (but I found a few that were around 500), and there is a newer model out now so the price should be dipping). 2.8 lbs, 2500:1 contrast ratio, 2,000 lumens... and XGA output. Anyone have any experience with this one?
I have a MBA (my first apple since the Mac SE 20... ha!) and I have a Dell 2300 multimedia projector. I have the DVI-VGA adaptor, but I can't get a good picture to project. I've toyed with the display settings to see if I can get it to improve. The picture stays dark, or blurry, etc etc.
Is there a setting I'm missing, or could I maybe have a bad adaptor?
I am getting a Pico Pocket Projector. Unfortunately, it doesn't offer a vga port and the only way to connect anything is through composite. I was thinking of using VGA to Composite and purchased the following:

However, when I hook it up to my TV (projector is wrapped away some where) it does not respond and the macbook doesn't pick up on it. Do I need the official apple one? I want to browse the web as well as watching movies.
I am operating tiger 10.4.11 and my graphics thingy is Intel GMA 950.
I had my new mbp connected to an LCD projector for class the other day. At the end of class I disconnected it and put it in my bag. When I got back to the my office I took it out and it was burning hot everywhere. I opened it up, there wasn't a response, but it eventually restarted. Everything seemed fine. Since then, I have connected it to the tv at home a few times to watch some shows, and the exhaust gets going at a fairly high rate. I never noticed the sound of the fan before, but iStat says its going at 6200+ rpm and its quite loud. It doesn't really feel hot. Anything to worry about or am I just being paranoid about my new baby?
View 2 Replies View RelatedLooking to connect your Mac notebook to a TV, projector, or sound system? Here's a quick guide that outlines all the things you need to make it happen - from adapters to cables to ports. Just follow the simple instructions to verify that you're getting exactly what you need. And remember, just because you setup the video side of things correctly doesn't mean you're going to get audio. If you want both video AND audio, make sure to also follow the directions indicated in the "Audio" portion of this post. VIDEO Check the ports on the back of your TV or sound system to see which of the following options are available to you. Find the port that matches below, and you're set! Remember, if you also want audio, check the "Audio" section at the bottom of the post. If you want to use composite video and you're using a MacBook (white, purchased after fall 2009), you need this adapter + a third party converter + a VGA cable + a composite (aka "RCA") cable. Aluminum unibody (black keys, purchased after summer 2009) MacBook, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro, you need this adapter + a third party converter + a VGA cable + a composite (aka "RCA") cable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Casio (XJ-A240V/XJ-A245V) data projector, and I'm trying to connect wirelessly with a MacBook Pro (10.6.8). I see the projector in my Network wireless connection menu as "casiolpj_default1." The projector's LOGIN CODE is four digits, but the Network settings on my laptop must contain a minimum of eight characters. I've also tried connecting to the projector's Server IP address via computer to computer. I can join, but no projection. The projector is set to Wireless Input. I have clicked "detect monitors" on the MacBook. No further info is available in the projector manual.

I am seriously considering purchasing the new Retina Display MBP.My confusion lies with some of the adapters What adapter will I need to:
a) hook a new Retina MacBook Pro to a VGA projector?
b) hook a new Retina MacBookPro to a HDMI TV so that I can move video and sound to the TV directly?
I need to do both for teaching purposes when away from home.I understand I will need a new Ethernet Adapter and a new FireWire Adapter to work with the Thunderbolt connectors.

I have been using the same exact setup with the 2011 MBA but the new one won't work with my projector. I have a Acer X1161P 3D-DLP Projector and the proper cables since this has previously been working. I saw that in the first update there was something about external monitors.

I taught two terms at the university using my MB Air 2012 with a VGA projector. Each time I connected the Mac to the projector and took it off, there was random noise on the display. I considered it as normal. Now the lessons are over and I don't use the projector any more. However, every time I turn on the Mac and when I shut it down, I see the same noise on the display.
