MacBook Air :: Error - Power-PC Applications Are No Longer Accepted
Feb 17, 2012
I have old Office:Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition from my previous Mac-book and it won't download onto my new MacBook Air via external optical drive and says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported.Â
Recently my MacPro has been giving multiple errors that I can't open a particular application because PowerPC application are no longer supported. It references an application that I don't have on my computer and I'm not trying to open. I keeps listing the error over and over. Last night it listed it 88 times before I woke up this morning. They list one on top of the other running down from the middle of the screen to the right lower corner and then pile up there. I don't know what to do other than erase the drive and reformat and I really don't want to do that. I'm attaching a screenshot. Â
This shot shows 8 repeats in about 4 hours one day last week. This started about 3 months after I installed Lion, and I haven't installed anything else since I upgraded to Lion. Â
Info: Mac Pro (Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3), Tons of ram
I am trying to download a program for a online course that says it is mac compatable with a Macintosh OSX 10.2.8 or higher, but when i run the application it says that Mac is no longer compatible with PowerPC applications. How can I run this program?
A lot of people have been affected by the problem - the change to Lion OSX has left them stranded because Power PC Applications are no longer supported. I don't understand firstly why Apple has done this. There are thousands of software programs in use by their customers and suddenly these don't work. As these are programs used by students, teachers, employers and employees this seems quite senseless to leave everyone high and dry.
I have a sign being advised Power PC Applications no longer supported when I try to go into Microsoft Word, Excel, Entourage & MSN Messenger, hoe do I resolve this?
i've been trying to download cds for my RN review but keep on telling me "You can't open application because PowerPC applications are no longer supported" but all of this was the latest versions cd?
I just upgraded to Lion on my MacBook and can't open any of my FileMaker Pro files. The message says "Power PC Applications no longer supported." I am dismayed. What have others done?
I lost my iweb and had order replacement DVD from apple after talk with support team. When I install its say "you cant open the app installing mac os x because power pc app o longer supported"
I finally updated my software, first had to use Leopard, and then upgrade to Lion, which I just finished doing. I was checking everything out to see what changed....and now I can no longer use my Microsoft products!
Well, I'm trying to buy a MacBook Pro online, the $100 software and the 3 year guarantee and it says that my credit card information isn't accepted.  I called the credit card company 5 times and they said everything is fine. I retyped all the necessary information 3 times. Still the same result: credit card is not accepted. However, the $100 software is purchased but not the MacBook Pro nor the 3 year guarantee. This is extremely weird as to why one is purchased but not the others. Â
My son is using my old macbook pro 13-inch and he went to login using the correct security info but keeps getting denied. and clicking the question mark only leads to the computer recommending the very same password that he is using with no other options to request a change password option. the computer may still be running mountain lion, though possibly mavericks. definitely not yosemite.
Info: MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
my macbook pro had an error in regards to something like a usb device has used to much power and has now been closed. Since then the mac won't recognise any device i put into the usb port
Is anyone else having problems with the email? I am not receiving any emails, nor can I send anything out. Spent 30 minutes on online chat last night with someone most unhelpful, only to be told that the reason I'm not receiving anything is because my email is being forwarded to another address. I set my preferences to do that several years ago when this mac.com/me.com server began having so many issues, to ensure I was receiving email so I could check from my other address. The only comment I got was well, we no longer support 10.4.1 so there isn't anything we can do to help you. The status update says 33% of their customers are unable to migrate. So I'm pretty sure I'm not alone and that is a pretty large base of customers to no longer provide support to. Is anyone else who has not migrated to iCloud experiencing these email problems? Currently my iDisk works to transfer my larger files, but my email does not.
i have some programs from my previously migrated macbook data and new programs that yield the 'cannot support power pcs apps' error.does that mean i cannot use these programs ever? is there a fix, ie installing new stuffit expander to run an .exe file?i really cannot believe apple would reduce so much functionality with the new operating system.
I am trying to back-up my computer to my external hard drive and a box is popping up saying "You can't open the application WD Backup.app because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."Â What does this mean? I have updated my system to Lion since my last back-up. What do I need to do?
Upgraded my MacPro 2 x 3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon to Lion so that I can take advantage of icloud functions that apparently won't work with my present OS. I did a clean install of the Lion OS, and began to selectively reinstall application programs. I inserted the install disc for my Logic Studio Application, an application which was not cheap, and I am met with the above message when I try to install the software. (Actually, "you can't open the application LogicStudio.mpkg because powerpc applications are no longer supported")Under the system requirements, I find my machine within the guidelines. Also, this software worked fine on this mac machine when I was running the Leopard OS. What is "PC" about my Dual Intel processors?
I have a later 2012 iMac 27". The computer was running slow for the past week or so. I decided to update to Yosemite today. The installation stated it had a critical error and the downloaded file was corrupted. It asked to re-download the file, and then the iMac froze. It went to a gray screen without a restart. I forced the iMac to restart. After the restart, a progress bar with the Apple symbol would come up and then the iMac would shut down. I have attempted to restart using Internet Recovery; however, the OSX will not show a drive to install to. I did another Internet Recovery and had Disk Utility come up, but it only sees a partition with approximately 2 gigs of the 3 terabytes I actually have. It seems as if iMac is not properly mounting the drive. I have two questions.
1) Is there some way to have the bios remount the drive and 2) if 1 is not possible, is it possible to recover the data off the drive?
My 2011 Macpro 13 is sluggish on battery only and speeds up when Power source is connected. I ran H/W diagonostics at start up (by pressing and holding D). It gives error message - 4SNS/1/40000001:YPOR-0.000. At top it shows checking memory and I have tried both quick and detailed tests and same error messag comes. At bottom it says Pass number 1, and total testing time.
After OS Lion installation pre migration to iCloud, I can't access Word or Excel - greyed out no entry sign and error message when try to open. "You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". Didn't see any warning of this pre-installation. Didn't see any warning of this pre-installation. I paid for these two softwares and use them daily on my iMac. Need an urgent fix to access previous files. Any solutions to install a fix perhaps, and then re-install the software from my back up? Plus any Apple solutions to no longer having iWeb?
im entering an exhibition and they specifically request this :
"Mac formatted images will not be accepted."
If im using a mac with photoshop cd3 to burn my images how can I avoid this? Very basic question i know... but i want to make sure I dont goof this up because I have never had this request before.
Gave my old G4 iBook, running Tiger, to a friend. Situation is:
1) She brings the iBook over, saying she can't install a new driver because it's stopped recognizing the password.
2) I confirmed this, and using the install disk, I successfully re-set the password for that machine's one and only account.
3) Now she says that the machine asks for her keychain password "every time I try to do anything, in any application" - and she says that neither the current password, nor the old one is accepted.
I've read similar threads, and I know I have to re-set one or more keychains. Which one(s)? How can I do this?
