I have a new Macbook Air and have a slide show on it in iphoto. I want to project it in a big theater with no Wi-fi and I need to use a remote. Can I use my new iphone? Do I need an appt and can I do it without Wi Fi?

I absolutely cannot get the iPhone remote app to work with itunes for whatever reason!it's driving me crazy never had any issues on my old macbook, its defo on the same wifi, i can ping it etc, I'm faily handy with OSX and the like as i'm a software developer, so I know it's not a firewall issue and the phone is on wifi.
it just doesn't pop up to let me enter the code in iTunes under devices when I'm trying to register the Phone with the machine,for the record the phone has been synced with the itunes library in question and I have clicked the forget all remotes button in iTunes prefs, and the 'look for iphone remotes' box is checked
so I've pretty much done everything bar uninstall itunes is that really necessary, is it worth deleting the itunes prefs file??
iv been up all night trying to figure out a solution this hdtv as external display problem, and i just cant figure it out. I want to, if possible:
1. connect the macbook pro (13" mid 2010) to my plasma tv
2. Close the lid of the macbook pro

* I'm unable to find the "Unable Power Nap while plugged" option on the energy saver tab... is that because the model of my laptop doesn't support that? Â
* In order to access content from my library remotely, should the "Computer Sleep" option on the energy saver be on "Never" instead of the "1 hour" that I'm currently using... or is there a way to still be able to wake up the laptop with those settings
I'm using Remote on my iPhone 3G to control music from a iMac. After an upgrade to version 2.X of the app, it performs very slow. Loading the library or controlling it can take more than 30 seconds! The previous version 1.X did very well with iPhone 3G. I would like to go back to version 1.X but have no backup of the previous version of the app. In my opinion, this updates should not support or be applied to older hardware, it become so slow that it makes no sense to use the app anymore. update a version that can work fine with iPhone 3G or make version 1.X available in the iTunes Store. Im not updating my apps anymore, because each time I do so, the phone lags more than before.

with the news that Apple may allow for streaming iTunes to an iPhone anywhere from your home, i can anticipate more demand for the Mac Mini. I was looking into getting one as a music server to share my home library thru my MacBook remotely thru Hamachi. Now if I can do the same to a portable device, i am SOLD.

I can't seem to get my Macbook Pro 13" 2.26Ghz (OS 10.5.7) connect to my iPhone 3G (OS 3.0) via bluetooth. In the Bluetooth Setup Assistant the macbook sees the iPhone 3G, but they don't connect after I accept the connect on the iPhone 3G. The codes on the Macbook and iPhone are the same and, therefore, should connect.
I've searched the Apple Discussions (support) but there is no answer there.
i would like to be able to remotely access my macbook from anywhere across the internet. but i am looking for something more automatic, than the way i have set it up for my desktop using port forwarding, since i never know where the macbook will be and therefore a given network will already have its router configured and forwarded for my laptop.
i want to have access to file, isight, and screen sharing. i can only assume i need third party software but havent found any.
I have problem, I've try to install Snow Leopard to my mac, so my superdrive is broken, and I try with remote install mac os x. My other machine is PC with XP so i put Leopard DVD and install Remote Install ... I've done all the steps, but when I restart my mac and hold alt key it appears only my drive... I have router tp-Link - try with wireless, and plug the internet cable too. I've must restarted at least 10 times - same result.

I have an iMac with the CD inserted and see the MacBook Air has a "Remote Disc" mount point in Finder. What I do not know is how to get the MacBook Air to see the CD in the iMac.

I used Macthe Ripper to rip my sons chuggington dvd to my macbook pro, then i used handbrake to convert it, i managed to copy the converted file to my itunes library, but when i symc my iphone 3gs, it says it won't copy the file because it can't be played on my iphone.Several forums mention using the iphone/ipod touch preset when converting in Hnadbrake, now i may be a numpty, but i cant find this preset anywhere?! The closest thing i can see is an apple button/setting.when i selected apple and told it to play again, it said it would overwrite the prev converted verison. It took hours to convert the first time, if I do this, will it really work? Or will I waste another 3 hours?!

I can adjust the volume but can no longer change the tracks / play or pause.This is on my Mid 2010 13" which was working fine before the upgrade to 10.6.5.I don't think I'm alone with this issue as I've seen a post on this on the Apple discussion boards

Safari all of a sudden beach balls and I wait a bit until I try doing a force quit on it. After a while I still have no response and I cannot close it. So, I hold my breath while forcing a shutdown with the power button. To make a long story short, I ended up with the flashing question mark on the gray screen. Anyway great machine but for one thing - I am trying to do a clean install but the remote install is not working for me via wifi or ethernet.
I have connected my old macbook to my MBA and I can see the dvd install disk. I successfully go through the whole process of restarting the MBA (holding the option button), the startup disks appear and I can connect to my home wireless network, I select the dvd install disk and click on the arrow button and my MBA restarts. However, it then does one of two things - restarts and goes to the desktop or there is a kernel panic attack.
Basically I don't get to the next stage where you select your language and go on to partition the drive.
Is it possible to remote a pc from a mac and if I can what applications can I use?!

I'm having with Apple Remote Disc. I'm using a MacBook Air (1st gen) and the optical drive from a Dell Inspiron 1720. I was using Remote Disc successfully with Vista 32-bit, but upgraded to Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and I cannot get it to work now. I've followed the install instructions from Apple's website (have the latest version 1.0) and sharing is enabled. I've tried turning off Windows firewall, but no dice. When I click on "Remote Disc" nothing at all shows up. They are connected to the same network... I don't know what gives.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just bought a brand new MBP from the Apple Store today, 17" one. I had an iMac, and did a transfer via Firewire of all my stuff to the new MBP. I then wiped the iMac clean and reinstalled Snow Leopard and moved it to my parents house. However the Apple Remote I had with the iMac, which was paired with the iMac, will not work with the MBP at all. I tried going into System Prefs on the MBP and pairing the remote, no luck. I tried turning off the infrared receiver in the same settings pane, no luck. I tried popping out the battery of the remote and put it back in, no luck. I then tried my girlfriend's Apple Remote (which is paired with her MacBook 13"), no luck. I turned off the infrared receiver in her MacBook to make sure it wasn't interfering or whatever, still no luck. Neither Apple Remote will work with my brand new MBP. Does it have a broken infrared port u think?

I would like to use it in a server-like application, but to set it up I will need some way to get video working temporarily.
When it broke, I had ssh enabled but that's about it. I didn't install remote desktop or anything like that. Is there any way to ssh in and install/set up Remote Desktop or something equivalent? I'm used to doing X11 forwarding over ssh on linux, but I haven't found anything similar for mac.
I am curious if I can burn a DVD using remote disc or if I need to buy the external drive.

We've got a new macbook air running Lion. There's an icon for remote disk in the Finder window. We have two iMacs and both have CD/DVD sharing turned on. But the Remote Disk on the Air is empty. Do we need to install any software on the iMacs? Do we have to create a new wifi network? or is the Air not working properly?

Is there a camera available that works though Bluetooth, USB, wifi, etc that basically becomes a detached iSight? Or do I need to buy a hand held video camera?
