MacBook Pro :: Can't Open Pdfs Anymore
Apr 19, 2012Lately I have been unable to open PDFs from the internet. When I click it sends me to a blank internet tab. Sometimes I am able to control click and have the option to save the file in my downloads, then have to go back into finder to open the file. This is also the case when opening PDFs from emails. However there are some files on the internet that will not allow me that option. I have tried this in firefox, safari, and chrome.All are the same.Everything worked just fine until about 3 days ago.

Apr 19, 2012Three days ago, I stopped being able to download or view pdfs online. The problem persists whether I use Safari or Firefox and with both Preview & Adobe. I have never had this problem before. Now if I try to view a pdf online, I get a blank screen. If I try to download a pdf, I get an error message stating that the pdf cannot be opened.

MacBook Pro :: Updated Adobe And Now PDFs In Websites Do Not Work?
Apr 25, 2012I updated my Adobe per a box coming up as usual on my screen saying a new update was available. I was afraid this issue might have been becuase I might have closed my computer prior to it finishing. However, I've uninstalled and reinstalled the entire Adobe. However when trying to open websites that link to a pdf file, it will not open. It shows a blank screen. Adobe PDF files that are saved to my computer open fine in Adobe, but not through websites. Is this a part of that virus that supposedly happened two weeks ago- or is this just a coincidence.

May 3, 2012When I view a PDF in Safari it looks good. When I go to print it either the preview is totally blank or one page that I was viewing at the time previews and the print dialog box shows the additional 8 pages but they are all blank. I'm baffled. If I use Chrome and go from its interface to preview it works perfectly.

Jul 5, 2012I have five Macs - from MacBook Pros to Mac Pros and I have never been able to view a PDF in Safari. I needed some legal documents and they were placed online as PDFs. I tried to view them but was presented with a blank black page in Safari and no option to download the PDF.
This happens on all five of my Macs. I went to my neighbor who has a new MacBook Pro and went to the same site and presto! There were the documents. I had to download, copy to Flash and bring them home.

OS X :: Large PDFs Slow In Preview
Jun 7, 2009I seem to be having trouble with large PDFs in OSX. Everytime I open such a PDF file, either under Preview or Adobe Reader, ATSserver and mdworker begin taking up 60-80% of the CPU. Can someone please shed some light into what is happening? I understand that OSX is indexing the PDF file, but it indexes it everytime the PDF is launched, instead of just once. For example, I open Textbook.pdf (50mb) in Preview. As soon as it opens, the above two processes take up 60-80% of the cpu and seemingly dont stop. I wait, and wait, and eventually they do. So then I search for a word in the PDF file, and those processes start up again, searching becomes painfully slow as each instance of the term is searched for (I thought it indexed it). Once the searching for one term is done, and I decide to search for another, the two processes come on again, and everything slows down again. If I close Textbook.pdf and open it again either immediately or at a later date, the same things happen again.
Isnt it supposed to index once, and then be indexed forever? Instead of indexing everytime the pdf is launched, and everytime a term is searched for? This has made large PDFs almost unusable in OSX, unlike in Windows which doesnt seem to have this problem. Is there a solution?
OS X :: Preview Not Loading Some PDFs (incompatibility?)
Mar 22, 2010This PDF [URL] Will not load properly, it is all messed up in preview. If I get that same file and drop it into my XP virtual running adobe acrobat, it loads perfectly. Why is this the Case? would this be something Eli Lilly did when they saved the file and it does not open up correctly? All other PDFs from different companies load fine, its this Eli Lilly ones that seem to have this issue. (I am running the latest snow leopard)

Mac Pro :: Why Does Printer Print PDFs So Slow
Apr 16, 2012I have a legacy HP LaserJet 1200 printer, that I've had forever and it STILL makes excellent copies so I'm hard pressed to replace it. However... when printing PDF docs, it takes FOREVER to print a page. Like as long as 10+ minutes. But only PDFs. All other doc formatted files print instantly as expected.I assumed it was a memory issue, so I installed as much RAM as possible in the printer,but this had no effect whatsoever I called HP and they don't have any new drivers or tricks to make PDFs print more timely.Does anyone have any tricks or thoughts, other than buy a new printer. When I have to print a PDF I just let let it sit and do it's thing. But right now I have a 40 page PDF and it will take all afternoon, seriously. The copies BTW, when the do print are gorgeous and crisp.

Safari :: Can No Longer Print PDFs In It
Apr 17, 2012A couple of days ago I had no trouble printing a PDF which was open in a Safari window. Now when I have a PDF open in Safari and I try to print a page of it, the print window that appears shows a blank page, and if I click Print, the paper comes out blank. I tried opening the same PDF in Firefox and the window itself is blank. It works in Chrome.

Safari :: PDFs Will Not Save Or Print?
May 21, 2012Have recently started having an issue where when I open a PDF attachment from Safari, it will not allow me to print it or "save as". When I attempt to print, the window comes up, shows a blank preview in landscape mode. When I attempt to "save as" it states The document “201205210502092.pdf” could not be exported as “201205210502092”. and nothing saves. It used to work great every time, now, it does not work at all.

May 22, 2012I am unable to view or download bank statements from our bank online using Safari. Also tried Firefox and it didn't work. Also unable to view, open, or download any other type of PDFs on my iMac since removing the hard drive, replacing it with a new one, and reinstalling OS X Lion 10.7.4. I didn't notice this problem until after installing the recent Updates for Safari 5.1.7 and OS X Lion 10.7.4, so I don't know if it could have anything to do with them or not. I am still in the process of reinstalling programs, but everything else seems to be working fine since the switch to the new hard drive except for not being able to view PDFs.

Applications :: Combining PDFs - Pages Come Out All Different Sizes?
Jan 11, 2010I've got some PDFs I'm trying to compile into one single PDF file. I'm using an automator script which is working well, except for the fact that the resultant PDF's page sizes are all over the place � some are huge whereas others are pretty tiny...
Is there something I'm missing here? Is there a way to combine PDFs and not have the pages sizes turn out weird? The PDFs are from different sources (some have been scanned at various resolutions, some are word documents that were printed to PDF from within OS X) so that could be the reason, but I'm just looking for a solution atm.
