MacBook Air :: Deep Sleep Not Appear To Be Working?
Oct 27, 2010
Deep sleep does not appear to be working on my MBA. If close the lid and open it in the next few minutes, it wakes from sleep normally. If I close the lid and let it sit for a while, then open it, I have to press the power button and wait for it to boot all over again. The battery is fully charged.

I am still having this waking up issue with my mba 13. When it sleeps for more than 1/2 - 1 hour. It doesn't seem to wake up. It normally wakes up asking my password on top of the screen. But sometimes it reboots. Today something weird happened..the welcome screen came up asking my password.
I entered it and I seen the blue desktop screen, than back to the password box. I entered my password 3-4 times.. it did the same thing. I pressed and hold the power button. Turned it off then back on. Again my outlook file under windows xp in parallels is corrupt.

I have a trouble with deep sleep (hibernation) mode. MacBook MB403, OS X Leopard 10.5.6. When I put my mac to deep sleep mode, and then wake it up, I have a two problems: Bluetooth is not available until I reboot it and more serious problem: if I try to put mac in deep sleep mode again, screen becomes dark, but white indicator shines constantly and no more actions, I can only press power button for 3 seconds, then it power down and so mac shuts down. I tried to use Deep Sleep widget and also I tried "sudo pmset -a hibernatemode 3" in the Terminal.

So one day I activated deep sleep from this widget like I always do when I want to keep my 100% charge and i'm traveling with my macbook and keep my stuff saved.
It didn't work. So I kept clicking. clicking. clicking. Nothing.
So I slept my mac, and woke it again and it worked.
However when I went to wake it, I just got a grey screen. I held down the power button to cold boot, and when I rebooted it booted from the RAM file like it would normally when waking from deep sleep.
But now every-time I close the laptop it goes into deep sleep.

My coworker is having some problems with his iBook G4 and I (being the mac guy I am) volunteered to help set it straight. I have encountered a bit of a snag that seems quite strange to me. The problem is that when the computer boots and gets to the login screen, it goes into a deep sleep and can only be revived by removing the battery. It stays at the login screen for about 3 seconds before this happens. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this in advance so I don't have my usual supplies (OSX CD or a Firewire cable to go into target disk mode so I can poke around from my MBP). If the sleep problem were not strange enough, I cant boot into single user mode! It just keeps a black screen up. Verbose startup does the same thing. Has anybody here come across a problem like this before?
TIA

I ask because I'm using remote tap on iPhone to remote into my iMac when I'm away. It sleeps it and wakes it just fine remotely. But when it's asleep too long, remote tap will fail to wake it, and the only thing that will wake it is if I hit a button on the keyboard or mouse. Is there a way to just keep it in normal sleep(?) or something?

After switching over from a PC several weeks ago everything's going great. On my PC I liked to use the hibernate feature when I was in the middle of something and had to run. I think on the Mac this is called deep sleep, but I can't find the option to do this. Can deep sleep be enabled on an Aluminum iMac?

Sleep seems to have stopped working all of a sudden on my recently upgraded iMac. The only thing I remember doing was repairing disk permissions and changing a few iChat preferences.
The console shows the following;
kernel Sleep failure code 0x00000000 0x11000000
A reboot does not clear the condition

I had the LCD replaced because the whole upper half was shifted on one side closer than the other for some reason and when I closed the lid, it was not only not aligned properly but it was chewing up the plastic edge at the bottom of the LCD.
Anyways, took it to the Apple store in Vancouver here and it still is a bit off. Took it to the tech and they say that is the way it is and there isn't too much they can do. That is total BS!! I have to get this realigned even if it means Apple will get their tech to replace my MBP. Just got it in March 09.
Anyhow, I noticed that the LCD replaced has colors NOT quite as rich or as deep as before. Anybody know how to check their LCD for this? I'm going to have to get them to replace the LCD again! I know Apple doesn't have any quality control when it comes to having the LCD replaced but when the computer is $3000, you would think they would take the care to be a little bit more stringent with their replacement parts/products.

My MBP goes off to sleep while I work in the VM(Fusion,XP). I tried different settings without success.
I run the machine for 95% of the time on the power adapter with once a week draining the battery before loading again.
It is very annoying that I have to go manually across(locked in mouse) to the osx and knock the space bar to be able to continue on the VM.

I noticed a couple of days ago that my sleep indicator has stopped working. When I shut the lid the computer goes to sleep.... when i open it back up after 30 seconds or a minute msn tries to reconnect and i heard the cd make that little noise that it does... anyone know of anything i could try to make it work again?
This is my first mac, it's a Macbook Aluminum Unibody 13" 2.0GHz... this is the only problem I've encountered.... I know it's pretty minor, but I like things to work as they're supposed to, especially when they're this new.

Just this morning, I opened my MacBook which had been sleeping overnight. for some strange reason, even when the screen was up, the light at the button was still glowing (indicating it was asleep). I tried forcing it to shutdown. When I turned it on again, it went to sleep mode right when the desktop was about to load. I tried booting from Windows 7 but sure enough, when I reached the login screen, the computer went to sleep. I concluded that it was definitely a sleep sensor problem.

Since installing Yosemite I'm seeing a random issue where, after waking my Macbook from sleep, keyboard input is not possible. I can move the mouse using the trackpad, and applications all appear to be running as normal. I can quit applications from the dock also using the trackpad. When trying to type anything I get the 'bong' sound as if input is blocked. The only fix I've been able to find is either to ssh in from another machine and force a restart, or to force a power off using the power button.Â
I've tried searching the console logs and can't find anything relevant happening at the point this fails. I've also considered that it could be any number of applications misbehaving, but having quit everything running that is visible in the dock, keyboard input still isn't possible.Â

I got a brand new Macbook Air the other week. I noticed that sometimes, after folding the computer (with the OS running), then unfolding it - the keyboard and trackpad are not responding at the login screen. Actually if I press the keyboard it lights up properly but there is no access to the system. The only thing that works is the power button, so every time I have to power down the computer, then back on again.

I put my MBP to sleep. Opened the lid back up about an hour later and it was in Deep Sleep mode. I had to press the power button and wait for it to restore settings before I could do anything (greyed out screen, progress bar, etc).
Battery was still at 82%.
Anyone know what's up with this or have this happen with their computer before?

I'm well sure this topic has come up before, but I've never seen it answered.
After waking my Mac mini from sleep, my keyboard won't respond at all. I tried:
- Plugging it into a different USB port, including the one on my monitor
- Using the mouse to wake the computer up from sleep instead of the keyboard
- Switching to a different, wired keyboard (had a wireless before)
Both keyboards used were off-brand (non-Apple) keyboards, but I've had a couple before these two that never had a problem whatsoever.

I have an airport express that is configured properly but for some reason iTunes cannot find it after it wakes up in the morning. To fix it I have to restart the computer. My computer is connected to a time capsule via an ethernet cable and the airport express extends the same network wirelessly. My computer goes to sleep everynight at 1 am and wake up at 7am. I like my coffee and bbc every morning and am tired of having to go downstairs to the restart my computer to get the airplay working again. This started happening about four or five months ago.

I have an obscure brand USB keyboard that I am trying to use with my Mac Mini, with one problem: after the Mini goes to sleep and wakes up again, the keyboard doesn't work. The solution is to either unplug and replug the keyboard or restart, but both are I think unnecessary hassles.
What I like even more is that the keyboard will wake the Mini (by pressing the spacebar or something), but won't work after that.
I also tried a plain ol' Apple keyboard, which works just fine after sleeping/waking.
Any ideas on what's going wrong, or how to fix it without replugging/restarting? It's just a keyboard, so I don't see why it should pose as any real problem after waking, so buying a new keyboard is not quite what I am looking for. I may end up doing it anyways (a wireless one to go with the wireless MX1000 I am using) but at the moment I don't want to spend money for a new keyboard.
It's a 1.66GHz Core Duo, 512MB RAM, 60GB HD, OS X 10.4.10.
