View 7 RepliesAll other articles I've seen online and on this site have been utterly useless for information on how to reformat this drive to a standard format. It has to be possible because all it is is a standard usb thumb drive.
I don't care if it gets rewritten as I've made a copy of it, and besides, if I really need the os to be installed again I'll just take it to the Genius Bar to have it done.
I'm looking for someone who really knows there stuff with terminal and permissions and all of that stuff to shed a little light on this subject.
I have just read a ton of forum posts and want to make sure I am going to buy the right accessories to make my new Mac Mini all it needs to be to run my home theater.1. For 5.1 audio, do I need to buy this product and then just use a standard Optical audio cable to plug into my receiver?2. The new Mac Mini comes with a mini DVI to DVI connector correct? So all I will have to buy is a DVI to HDMI cable?3. Is OWC (other world computing) the best place to buy upgrades for the mac mini? I have looked at the videos on youtube and it seems like something I should be able to do no problem.

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe old Mini worked fine with my Westinghouse 24" LCD monitor (HDMI input -connected to Mini via DVI->HDMI cable). The new Mini Server 2010 has HDMI out, so I used a straight-through HDMI cable. The display looks terrible! All of the fonts appear to have a 'shadow' next to them - almost like an old analog VGA with 'interference'.Thinking it could be the cable, I went back to my old Mini's DVI->HDMI cable (and used the new Mini's HDMI->DVI adapter to connect to it). Same results. The Westinghouse monitor's native resolution is 1920x1200. The Mac says that it's configured for 1920x1200.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI purchased a top of the line Mac Mini Server and I'd like to install the standard version of Snow Leopard on it. I tried to the following: I inserted my retail snow leopard DVD in my macbook pro and I launched "Remote Install Mac OS X" (in /applications/utilities) and I followed the instructions. Then I booted the mac mini holding the "alt" key down and selected the snow leopard dvd as startup disk. What I see next is the Apple logo with the activity indicator spinning and after several seconds I see a "no entry" sign and nothing more it stays like this forever. Is it possible to install Snow Leopard on a Mac mini server?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCan anyone suggest what should I do with Mac Mini 1,83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and my two new Dell monitors?I tried them using their standard VGI cables connected to a VGI port on a Mac Mini - both are dead. Not a single flicker.
My Mac bought from a trusted friend and acts as a practically new machine - but not with my monitors.
P.S. I went through several Mac-related forums and there's abundance of issues with "alien" monitors.
I need a drive that makes zero noise. Doesn't need to be the best of the best at speeds.

Will this monitor be compatible with my mac mini? It also comes with a webcam, and I was wondering if I'd be able to use that as well.
How would the color look on it? Right now I'm using a 2 maybe 3 year old dell screen in the shape of a square and the color looks kind of fuzzy. How would it look on that particular monitor?
I have a Sony DVD301 Handycam that records to a 3" dvd. I have heard on numerous occasions that this is not Mac-compatible (camera only has a USB port, no FW). recently read that Handbrake 0.7.0 will easily convert the files so I can edit in iMovie. Can anyone confirm?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm new to MAC and have a problem connecting my network printer to my MacMini:
Hardware:
1) Intel Mac Mini
2) Printer: HP laserjet pro 100 color mfp m175nw, WLAN switched off, connected via Ethernet to the same network as 1) and 3)
3) Windows PC
Problem:
I can't discover the printer from my MAC Mini. However, I can connect indirectly via the Windows PC which is sharing the printer resource in the network.
Question:
Is there a way to directly connect to the printer via Ethernet, so that I can print with my Windows PC switched off?
P.S: I can print with my iPAD connected via an AirPort extreme to the same Ethernet network.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor anyone wanting to use their Mini Display port connector on their 4870 with a panel that has the standard size display port connector, I've found a source for a cable that works perfectly. It has the mini display port on one end and a full size display port on the other. Cost $19 bucks shipped and works like a champ. The cable is nice and compact, thinner and more flexible than my DVI cable. I'm quite pleased! ( it's the little things.... )
Here is the cable I picked up: Mini Display Port to Display Port cable
I guess there's not much more to this question than that:

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am happy to say that I love my new MacBook I bought a couple weeks ago, but since I bought the white entry level for my first Mac, I have been trying to find some kind of useful info on what internal hard drives will be compatible with it. I only have the 120 GB model but I want to expand to a 500 GB or 320 if I can't get a 500 that will fit. Is there anyone out there can recommend a compatible drive? I found one at micro center (link below) but am not sure it will fit. I don't mind paying this for the drive, I just am not familiar if it will cause issues with the power, make more noise, etc. [URL]

View 8 Replies View RelatedI do have a copy of the the Mac Mini SL Client software but I don't have another Mac to create the USB restore disc in order to load the client on the Mini Server via usb drive. I don't intend to use the Server Software and don't want to 'activate' the license so I can resell it instead. Can I just use the Server to create the bootable restore disc without 'activating' the Server License and locking it to my serial number? Or is there another way to create the restore disc if you don't have access to another Mac to run disc utility?
Have a new Mac Mini, using an external drive but I can't get it to show up in finder. It's a Lacie 1TB Porsche design HDD, using a USB connection directly into the mini. I tried it at first by connecting to an open usb on my cinema display..no good. Also no good when connected directly into the mini.
