View 2 RepliesAll the animations of the OS [expose, minimize, spaces, quick look] along with 3rd parts apps animations [coversutra, quicksilver, ect.] are very slow and buggy, it have just recently started before couple days.
Attempts that didn't help:
-VRAM and SMC restart.
-Creating a new user.
-Disk permissions verification and repairing.
Facts:
-Snow leopard 10.6.1
-Machine specs in sig
Time to get rid of the stuttering window animations of my Mac Pro. Both my additional displays (Dell 2007FP) show very slow window animations, watching videos also lags.
The centre display (30" ACD) is perfectly fine. The displays themselves are not the problem, I've tested them with my laptop and they are fine there.
I also tested all graphics cards configurations possible:
- only a single graphics card with one or two displays connected
- 30" to 4870, 1 20" to 4870, 1 20" to GT120
- 30" to 4870, both 20"s to GT120
The latter is what is running now (and what I'd like to keep it).
I really don't have any clue what might cause the lag.
Did anything change in OS X?
I never had this kind of problem with previous display setups. Everything was perfectly lag free.
Before the machine was superfast, now it still is but the animations go slower. (for example: switching to fullscreen apps goes "laggy". When I empty the bin. The prompt window pops up laggy etc...) I had a macbook pro before also with Mac OS X Lion, i updated the ram too and became also laggy. After a while it disappeared. For no particular reason.
Info:iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), I5, just did Ram update
After searching endlessly with no luck I've yet to find a way to disable dock animations or an application that can do so. Has anyone had any luck with this and with disabling shadows as well?

One thing I hate about the new 10.6.4 is that the names of Screen shots are a block and a half long... as they include that day and time..fair enough, but many dialog boxes in BB's where I want to post some screen shots trunciate that making finding it a time consuming thing. before it simply said screen shot and a number...anyway I can go back to that method/system that does not require a PHD in computer programing. I have googled it, and there are things about writing 'scripts' etc... (that loses me completely...anyone know an easier method... (and when apple change things like this, why dont they give the option to use the old ways...?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Quicktime Player that was included with my MAC doesn't work very well for me. When it loads into the browser there is no way to resize it so all you get are tiny movies on my nice big monitor. Also, it doesn't play WMV (it just downloads the file and shows it as a text file). I'm used to WMP playing everything that I needed. Is there a simple movie player that I could use on the MAC?

I have seen 4GB of RAM from Crucial for a new MDP 13". Now, when I install it, will I have 6GB or 4GB? The mac comes with 2GB but will I have to get rid of them to install the 4GB? or can I keep them and have 6GB?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to drag and drop my iTunes music folder from an external drive directly to a windows laptop (if no, why exactly)? Or do I have to go threw a specific transfer process with the mac? I just want the music files, and album artwork. I have podcasts but I assume there associated with my account so they will just redownload.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis has been asked in other forms, but this is a bit different (I think): I am looking for budgeting software, but not to manage my checking accounts or savings accounts, etc. Really, I just want to plug in numbers for my expenses, credit card totals and interest rates and minimum payments, car payment and total; etc. Then I want it to crank out the best way to pay all of this stuff. Most of what I see are programs that first and foremost tell me what I am spending money on. I already know that. Any simple, straightforward budgeting software along these lines?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn Windows, if you ever want to change the Artist Name, title, genre, etc of a song, all you have to do is right click, go to properties, and there, you can change everything.
On Mac, I haven't been able to find anything that simple! Whenever I want to do that, I have to open it with iTunes, and change them in iTunes, and drag them out!
Is there a simpler solution like the one in Windows?
I love my new mac mini but I miss paint. I used it alot for simple editing, such as resizing an image, cutting in it and maybe add some text.. stuff like that. I cant really find another program that does the same things in a quick and simple way.
also, how the hell do I take a snapshot of the screen when there's no print screen button?
I know, I know... iTunes is the end all, be all for mac users as far as music players go. But I don't like to use iTunes all the time... there are times when I download a bunch of music and just don't have time to organize it and make sure it's tagged correctly, so I don't wanna add it to my iTunes library just yet...
so I am wondering, is there any other good music players out there that you might know of? I don't need it to go ahead and organize my music, I just need it to be able to open individual tracks or music off a folder and play it. A player with an appealing UI and shuffle mode would be ideal. I tried Vox btw, but it's kinda ugly though.
I am having a party in a couple of weeks and I was looking for a application that lets me mix songs. sort of like what DJ's have but it doesn't have to be too high tech or complicated to use.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've installed apache 2 on my system so I am not running the default apache server. I'd like to get some type of blog ability. I could not figure out how to tie in to the existing blog software that came with Mac OS X server. So, I'm curious if anyone knows how to do that. And if not, does anyone have any suggestions of a blog software package that is simple to set up.
