Applications :: Simple Way To Import A Text File Format Into ICal?
Jan 22, 2008I'm wondering if there is a simple way to import a text file format into iCal. I have a variety of operations that would become immensely easier to do if I could create a CSV file, for example, in Excel or Open Office and then just import that into iCal, rather than sit there and type each item individually.I have both event data and tasks that I need to do bulk imports for.
I've searched high and low and most of what I find involves importing CSV into other applications and then exporting it to VCal files before finally bringing the data into iCal.There has to be a simpler way.

Dec 27, 2009I am looking for a simple screensaver for my mac. I need something transparent - so I can still see what is going on on my desktop, but have password lock active.
I found transparent 2.2 which does exactly what I want but there is no way I will give 10� for a screensaver.

Apr 28, 2009The Quicktime Player that was included with my MAC doesn't work very well for me. When it loads into the browser there is no way to resize it so all you get are tiny movies on my nice big monitor. Also, it doesn't play WMV (it just downloads the file and shows it as a text file). I'm used to WMP playing everything that I needed. Is there a simple movie player that I could use on the MAC?

Oct 28, 2010Is it possible to drag and drop my iTunes music folder from an external drive directly to a windows laptop (if no, why exactly)? Or do I have to go threw a specific transfer process with the mac? I just want the music files, and album artwork. I have podcasts but I assume there associated with my account so they will just redownload.

May 24, 2009This has been asked in other forms, but this is a bit different (I think): I am looking for budgeting software, but not to manage my checking accounts or savings accounts, etc. Really, I just want to plug in numbers for my expenses, credit card totals and interest rates and minimum payments, car payment and total; etc. Then I want it to crank out the best way to pay all of this stuff. Most of what I see are programs that first and foremost tell me what I am spending money on. I already know that. Any simple, straightforward budgeting software along these lines?

Oct 10, 2009I know, I know... iTunes is the end all, be all for mac users as far as music players go. But I don't like to use iTunes all the time... there are times when I download a bunch of music and just don't have time to organize it and make sure it's tagged correctly, so I don't wanna add it to my iTunes library just yet...
so I am wondering, is there any other good music players out there that you might know of? I don't need it to go ahead and organize my music, I just need it to be able to open individual tracks or music off a folder and play it. A player with an appealing UI and shuffle mode would be ideal. I tried Vox btw, but it's kinda ugly though.

Jul 5, 2008I am trying to sync a folder on my desktop with a folder on a USB drive. Simple, right?
I have seen several programs that (may) do this, but all of the ones that I have seen are $30-$40. I have found several free programs that do something like what I want it to do, but miss the mark by "that much" (for example, Transmit will sync, but only with a network drive). The closest I found was an Automator action, but for some reason the synced items were three seconds apart from each other, so every time it would just re-sync the entire folder (which defeats the purpose).
Are there any free programs that will do a simple sync between two folders?

Sep 14, 2009I know there is dream weaver out there but I am not that well versed in using yet. I need something that is like Iweb 09 but will work better. It appears that when you create something in Iweb 09 and let's say it's [URL] it will make the home page this: [URL]
It seems like iweb adds on the extra extentension on the end. I also notice that Iweb when you save the program to a server the site takes forever to load and I think it has something to do with the size of the file or site. not sure.
What I like about Iweb is the drag and drop feature with text box and so on. Is there a program out there where I am not paying a monthly service charge to use a program that is loaded on a server? I understand I have hosting fees by the way.
So any programs out there that are mac friendly and has a user friendly interface?

Oct 4, 2009So I'm working this job where I need to keep track of my hours. I have rows of 4 columns. A is just the date and other random task info. B is the starting time, C is the ending time and D should be how many hours I worked on that particular day. The only problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get Numbers to add up my hours automatically!! The SUM function just gives me the red triangle of WTF. It's probably something really simple but this is my first attempt at spread sheeting so easy on me.

That's with greater than and less than character at the start and end of it. It messes up the reply address.
When I reply to one of these emails Mail.app sets the "To:" field to be:
"person@company.co.uk> <person@company.co.uk" <person@company.co.uk>
When it should just be:
To: person@company.co.uk
Anybody get this behaviour?
Incidentally, you can search for these kinds of simple emails in Mail.app by searching in "All Mailboxes"/"From" for:

That's greater than, space, less than.

Oct 18, 2010Today I tried opening my keynotes presentation file to make amendments to it and when I double clicked on it, the program loading bar only loaded up a third of the way and then hanged. I then tried to save it to a flash drive and use it on a different computer, but when I tried to copy it over to the flash drive it gave me this error: "the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "garment styles" could not be read or written error code - 36".
I have tried changing the file extension to a zip, then unzipping it and then renaming it but that did not work.(It wouldn't let me unzip it). I have also looked at the index file name to see if that was the problem, but that is as it should be.
I have also tried uploading it to a website and emailing it and it will not let me.
Is there anyway I can recover this file as I have been working on it for over a month and it is due next week, or will I need to start again?
