I've tried everything to get my win7 bootcamp installation to get onto a public wifi network on my mac pro quad. are there those with '09 quads that can get this working on an open wifi router?

How certain are we that (physical?) interference between the airport card/wifi and the graphics card can be cured with a download, and not actual hardware fix/repair? I mean, I know technology is advancing rapidly, but I'm not sure I can believe that a download can solve the issue that the 4850s are experiencing.

When you go to nvidia site there is no driver update for mac os but there is for vista 64bit. But I am afraid that if I update the driver for vista it might mess it up when I am in Leoapard?

This didn't bother me because at my old apartment my computer was near the router so I just wired it up by ethernet. I just moved into a new place and my computer isn't within router distance and I don't want to run a bunch of cable. My boss gave me a card to plug into Apple wifi card spot and OSX found the card and showed some airport info, but it didn't find any networks and if I run the Airport Utility it says it can't find an airport card. View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter I installed Snow Leopard everything has been working fine but I installed the latest Brother fax/printer driver and supporting apps yesterday Airport stopped working. So I restarted the computer but still won't turn on, no matter what I do. I'm not 100% sure if they are related but it's hard to believe they are not. I can remove all the Brother related stuff but I still need the printer driver.
Has anybody had this problem and can anybody suggest a solution?
I had a Dell 1100 laser printer working on my iMac (G4 ball type) using a GIMP printer. I had to reset the queue and lost the driver. I can't remember which GIMP driver I used. Also, although I have loaded the latest GIMP s/w, I can't seem to get to them in Tiger 10.4.6.

I have a g4 dual 1.25 ghz with airport extreme card in it. I recently bought a powermac g5 dual 2.3ghz. I tried to swap the airport card into the g5, but when I did that, the computer did not want to scan and pick up any networks. Is this because I need an extra antenna? Moreover, when I put the airport card back into the g4, the computer no longer see's it. I know its firmly plugged in. What I would like to do is have the g5 use the airport card, but help on how to get the g4 to recognize it again would also be helpful.

Now that Windows 7 is out, I'm sure many of us will want to run that. I resisted Vista because it sucked, but I want to put 7 on my comp.My university issued me a download of Windows 7 professional 64-bit. Right now I'm running XP 32-bit. I downloaded the windows 7 .iso and burnt it to a DVD.
I tried to boot from the CD, but it didn't work, it brought me to my Mac partition. I kinda realized that was a stupid idea, and started looking for an answer to my strains.Microsoft says you can't just upgrade from 32- to 64-bit, you'll need to do a full install. I for sure want to run 64-bit, to optimize it's performance.So, it looks like I'm going to have to delete my XP partition and get a new one for Windows 7.I'm running Leopard 10.5.8 which has BootCamp 2.0. I don't think it would support Windows 7. Should i first get a BootCamp 3.0??OTOH, is none of this necessary? Is there some way I can upgrade from XP (32-) to windows 7 (64-) just on my windows partition without having to interact with the mac partition?
OK i've been trying for months to share files between my 24" imac and my gateway laptop with windows 7. i got it to work a couple times for like a day then all of a sudden my PC doesn't recognize my Mac any more and it doesn't show up in the network. The mac has file sharing and SMB turned on. I've tried tons of different ways i've found online but nothing works so far.

Having looked in the Apple Store online, I can't see any internal cards, just base stations. I looked up the Airport Extreme Card, which I thought would solve my problem, but from what I could see that is only compatible with older Macs.
How do you unplug the wire that goes to the front of the card? The wire is attached to a metal plug that swivels around and plugs into the airport card. I tried tugging on it, but it seems like it is bolted on there.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to install an internal airport card in my Mac pro (2008) as I didn't order the wireless BTO option and the USB adapter I tried instead didn't satisfy me. When I asked for the card at an apple reseller they said to me that this upgrade would cost a lot of money because they haven't only to order the card but they have to install the antennas as well. I went home and checked the interiors of my machine and saw three antenna cables (labeled with 1,2,3) which seem ready to be connected to an airport card. So I don't know if I have to believe this antenna thing. Are the antennas already preinstalled in every Mac Pro or do I really have to bring the whole computer to the store?

Currently have a number of portable phones that causes problems (disconnects the Time Capsule) when I have the Airport card set to 2.4ghz---Tried 4 or 5 different addresses but no effect. Changed to 5 ghz seems no interference from the portable phones but I noticed thru Istat that the temperature of the Airport Card goes up over 60c(seen it as high as 64c) from general 55c or 56c. I know that this is normal but I am looking for some kind of general explanation why the temperature difference.
