MacBook Pro :: Can't Connect To Internet - Using Wireless Modem To Connect To The Netgear Wgt624
Dec 27, 2007I have a blackbook (intel core 2 duo) and I can connect to my landlord's wireless network (they have a netgear wgt624) but I can't actually use the web (Safari or Firefox will just "think"). I've tested the diagnostics and it confirms that my mac can connect to the network, but it cannot connect to the internet. The network uses WPA personal and it has a 19-aphanumeric passphrase.
*Also - would it be possible for me to extend the wireless range (and make it possible to browse the web) if I used my own 2wire wireless modem to connect to the netgear wgt624?

Oct 30, 2010I don't know what's wrong with it.My ipod touch connects just fine and yet when i try to connect my new macbook it won't allow me to connect.I've never owned a macbook - so i have no idea how to fix this.
I currently have the network setup assistant running and configuring - but it's been about an hour and it hasn't done anything.Is there something else i need to do?

Apr 7, 2009What i did was open the ipod through mycomputer (windows XP) and cut the folder that contains all my music and pasted it into mydocuments so i had full amount of memory on my ipod to use it as a memory device. I gave it to my friend to put some videos into my ipod again through mycomputer. He didnt allow the ipod to sync on his itunes. Now i have it back i plugged it into my pc and my itunes couldnt pick it up and neither can mycomputer. I left it plugged in and restarted my pc when it booted up i opened itunes and it was sort of froze, after leaving it for a minute or two my ipod cam e up on itunes but it said it was corrupt. I ran the restore over night as it was taking along time and when i cam back this morning it was still doing it! Whats wrong with my ipod?! is there any other way to system reset it? do you think my mate should have synced it with his pc?

Apr 22, 2012It is on my home network which I have been using for months. I have made no changes to my router or network setting. Other devices will still connect to the wifi with no problem and I connect through the ethernet connection with no problem. I have disabled the wifi and restarted my computer with no luck.

Jun 8, 2009though. Here's my predicament and Google hasn't turned up anything I understand:
- I've got a MBP running latest Leopard
- My wife has a MB running the same
- I pay for a web-server with SSH access
- I have a standard internet connection at home
- I have a standard internet connection at my office
I've been able to connect to the webserver, via SSH, for the longest time from my own MBP. All of a sudden, and I can't pin-point exactly when, my MBP gets the following message when I type "ssh [URL]" in Terminal.app:
ssh: connect to host [URL] port 22: Connection refused
So, it's not my credentials, but access altogether, it seems.

I have connected it to my new Sony Bravia KDL-26S55 TV using a standard cable with an Apple adaptor, to watch streamed tv content from the BBC iPlayer (British tv). I use a wi-fi link to connect to my broadband.
It plays ok except that there are frequent 4-5 second breaks when the tv screen says 'no signal 1024 X 768' but the content continues playing on the Mac screen, then it all starts to work again.

On the other end, the yellow is plugged into apple's mini DVI to video adapter which is plugged into my Macbook, and the red and white are plugged into an adapter that is plugged into my headphone jack. Audio is working through the TV, but video is not.

Nov 12, 2010I'm having a very strange Cisco VPN issue. I connect to a Cisco VPN every day for work from my macbook. Currently I prefer to turn off the Airport when I'm at the desk and use a wired connection. If I try to connect to the VPN with only the wired ip up, the VPN times out and says it failed to negotiate. If I unplug and turn on the AirPort it works fine.

The PS3 is getting a poor connection (40% signal) sometimes cutting out which makes it hard to download PS network stuff. I did what I was told, bought the motorola 2210 like they said I had to do and got online, but only with my one computer via the ethernet. I have five kids and three computers that need to often be online simultaneously so I need our network to be wireless. We already had a wireless network for a few years with our Airport Extreme (model A1143) so I was told to:
1. set up the att accts and get online with the modem
2. put their modem into bridge mode
3. plug in the cables and power up airport, change network settings to seek the wireless network

Apr 26, 2009I've tried a couple different DC++ clients, including "Shakespeer". However, I cannot always connect to the server's I need to (I'm certain it isn't a server issue). When I do, I cannot do a proper search, it will say it is searching but never do any results show up. I'm actually considering installing Vista for the sole reason that I can't find a proper DC++ client for my Mac.

May 7, 2009I am a Mac novice and just got an old Mac G4 w/ 10.2 on it. It has no wi-fi hardware. I want to connect it to my US Robotics 8054 wi-fi router, to which my XBOX360 and Windows XP PC are already successfully connected (all with wires... not using the wi-fi feature of the router).
I've connected it and Safari can't get to the WWW. On the Network control panel it says "Location = Automatic, Show = Built-in Ethernet, Configure = Using DHCP."
What else should I be looking for to get this bad boy up and running?

Aug 18, 2009My folks have recently cancelled our houses comcast internet bill in order to wait out the bad economy by making sure they have enough money. Ive been stealing my neighbors internet recently, but its not enough; and always crashes in 30min. of making use of it. I have a 20' ethernet cable, a comcast modem, and a netgear wireless router (not sure what model) before the bill got cancelled i was connect through the internet via airport. I have an iMac g5 9.0ghz /w 512MB RAM I currently have 10.x Leopard installed.
Is there any tips you guys have for me to connect? i only have 1 phone jack which is about 22' from where my computer is positioned in my bedroom. (Obviously thats not going to go too well because ill have cables running all over my house).
So what I was thinking, is that i could set up my cable modem and wireless router, put a phone jack cable from the jack to the modem, then turn on my router so i could get a wireless DSL signal to my computer and dial up for free without any cables in the way.
