I'm torn between an iSight from eBay or the aGent v5 HD. I'm looking for feedback on anyone who has used both or another that I should consider.
I have read threads here on MR that the audio on the aGent is very poor.
Is an old iSight still worth the $70ish for which they have been selling
I have a 2009 Mac Mini, which does not have a webcam. I don't need an expensive one, but I'd like to stick a basic one on there for iChat, etc.
I see webcams in the various stores for $25 or $30, which seem like they'd do the trick, but the boxes always say they're for Windows systems only.
I'm assuming that means the software that comes with them. But if I buy any old Microsoft or HP web cam and just plug it in, will the Mini see it and understand it?
What would you guys buy as an external webcam for a Mac Pro?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just got a Mac mini and I really love OS X. One thing that I really want to get though is a webcam. I really liked having it on my HP laptop. I don't need the most expensive cam ever, but I don't want something that is gonna look really bad (while my friend's MacBook Pro has good iSight video quality). I would most likely only be using it for iChat and ooVoo. I was thinking about this one since reviews say that people are using it with their own Mac minis: [URL]

View 7 Replies View RelatedDoes anyone know of a Mac compatible webcam that also works well in Windows (Boot Camp), that has an adjustable zoom angle through a manual zoom ring on the lens, or included software?
I had recently purchased, then returned, a Logitech Quickcam Vision Pro for my Mac Pro. I returned it because the picture in iChat was almost pitch black (but was fine in Photo Booth), but more importantly, the zoom angle was way too wide.
so I've downloaded MSN for mac and just realised it doesn't do video, I realise that they're tryin to work on that, anyone know of a release date?
For the moment does anyone know of a good program like MSN that will let me use video?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just purchased the Alba 10mp Webcam from Argos as it states that its compatible with my Macbook. Due to my Isight no longer working and the resets not fixing it i've had to buy a usb webcam as i use MSN and Skype a lot to chat to family.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently using Adium so I can consolidate all my accounts into one.
However, it does not have a webcam feature. Is there another program you can recommend to me that does all of the above. I am sad. I couldn't chat with my friend.
I have downloaded about 3 different instant messengers:
- Mercury Messenger
- aMSN
- Microsoft Messenger (newest version)
These all claim to have the ability of video chat and using the webcam, however, none so far have done so and every time I have tried it has failed or cancelled and can't connect.
I would like to know if I'm doing something wrong, I have gone through all the preferences and sorted everything that I think is right.
I use MSN (windows live) messenger. Going to switch to Mac soon for college, so I wanted to know if there was any MSN- capable IM program for OSX that supports the webcam of the MacBook.
I heard Adium is a good IM app, but does not support the webcam. Not sure about windows live messenger either.
I'm looking to buy a scanner to scan old documents and photos. I also have lots of negatives of different sizes (both black-and-white and color). Most scanner companies don't put an emphasis on making good Mac drivers, and I know a lot of printers and scanners are not compatible with Macs running Snow Leopard. Can anyone recommend a good scanner that has a solid, updated driver and great support for scanning film negatives?

For the MBP I know that it differed based on different wifi cards used in diffirent revisions.
I installed google chrome for mac and love it, it looks sick and its fast. Oh but theres one problem, youtube or any video site wont work on it
I just installed safari 4 and it completely does not work. It will load a site and I cant do anything on it. Nothing clicks, I cant scroll, nothing. Its not frozen, I can move it around my desktop and go under the preferences, but I literally cant use it.
I have tried so many now .... Here is what I want/need:
1) Multiple accounts
2) instapaper/read it later integration with links
3) easy marking of "read" tweets
4) This is the most important: I want to be able to place different people I follow into groups, like I was with seesmic for windows ... for example, I can put some people into a "tech" group and some into a literary" etc ... Why is this so difficult to find?!?!
I finally tired of the QWERTY layout and decided to take my fathers advice and learn Dvorak. It feels a lot more comfortable, so I am ready for the switch. a good tutorial that they have used or tried with success? Specifically one that works well with Leopard? I am using a spare keyboard with a Dvorak arrangement with me MBP.

I'm starting my career in networking configuration (basically configuring routers & switches) and need advice on a good serial terminal app. Since Terminal that ships w/ Mac OS X doesn't deal w/ serial ports, I've had to resort to using apps like Zterm & QuickTerm. Both of those haven't been updated in years, and they don't really have a "Mac OS X"-ey GUI goodness about them.

I own a wireless printer already that has wireless built in, and would really like to have my A3 printer wilress but I'm having trouble finding a good adapter ( printer server) that is cheap ( i.e. a little more than a good quality USB cable )
Any ideas/reccomendations as to where I can get one ?
o iTunes is no "GOOD" music player - iTunes is yet another player that can only handle a few file formats/codecs and cause of that is utterly bull.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWith my new job I have to instant message clients on a variety of platforms, aim, google, msn, yahoo, ichat (mobileme), icq, and myspace.
I have looked at ichat and like it but it doesn't work with many of the above services. Also, I have seen some clients that may work with msn but chat only, not video. I want to be able to use video whenever possible.
What are some good mac instant messaging clients that I should look at?
I just puchased a macbook, And was wondering what are some good free apps/games.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone know of a good trip planning application?
Im going on a big roadtrip this summer and would like to make up a nice travel itinerary to put my lady at ease.
I'm looking for a good (preferably free but beggars cant be choosers) Subversion client for Leopard. Currently I am using ZigVersion, which runs fine and is free but it regularly gets confused and does horrible things to my repository, or gets itself into a loop trying to check the status of items which dont exist and other horrible things.
I have searched around (here and general googling) and there are several clients but they either seem to be hideously ugly, old or missing features. I would really like to take a look at Versions but as yet it does not seem to exist! Whether it will make an appearance seems to be unknown.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what they use, or which they find to be the best? Ideally I'd like it to be a nice modern leopardy (is that a word?) app, and free, but more important than that I would like it to work. Properly.
