I am currently using Adium so I can consolidate all my accounts into one.
However, it does not have a webcam feature. Is there another program you can recommend to me that does all of the above. I am sad. I couldn't chat with my friend.
so I've downloaded MSN for mac and just realised it doesn't do video, I realise that they're tryin to work on that, anyone know of a release date?
For the moment does anyone know of a good program like MSN that will let me use video?
I have downloaded about 3 different instant messengers:
- Mercury Messenger
- aMSN
- Microsoft Messenger (newest version)
These all claim to have the ability of video chat and using the webcam, however, none so far have done so and every time I have tried it has failed or cancelled and can't connect.
I would like to know if I'm doing something wrong, I have gone through all the preferences and sorted everything that I think is right.
i got my Mac just yesterday and i was wondering if anyone could help me by telling me which messenger applications for mac supports Webcam?

I heard Adium is a good IM app, but does not support the webcam. Not sure about windows live messenger either.
I am looking for an instant messaging client that runs on os9. It will be running on a tray load 333mhz imac with 96 megs of ram. If anyone knows of a good one, reply. I have already checked google with no luck.

View 15 Replies View RelatedI have recently bought a Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 for Mac. If I connect the cam then I can find it back in "About this Mac - More Info - USB" as Logitech webcam. I also can use it in iChat. But when I log in on an Instant Messenger Chat, the Adobe Flash Player settings only recognise the iSight as webcam...not the Logitech. The Apple help desk directed me to Logitech and Logitech told me that it is somewhere in the apple programs.

Currently, the options settings are as follows:
login server: [URL]
port: 1863
connect via http (checked)
check for new mail (checked)
I just don't get what the problem is. I connect by airport to my house internet.
And is there any way to convert wma files to itunes? It used to work on my PC
I don't know why that the Adium messenger just puts my MBA on fire especially when I try to type in Chinese....

I've used online messaging sites such as meebo.com and web messenger but i was just wanted to know if theres an application for mac that will allow my adium/msn to log in such as a proxy application that will bypass the firewall or somthing.

But when I click on video, it says that the webcam I use is not functional because my lid is closed of course connecting my mbp to an external display. There is no place where I can choose to use the external webcam that works fine in all the other programs?

I bought a MacBook a few months ago. I downloaded the Yahoo messenger just fine. I use the webcam when my boyfriend and I am iming. A few days ago, the messenger just "hangs." I just get that little circle and I can no longer view my webcame at the bottom of my screen. My BF says he gets my transmission from the webcam just fine as the messenger menu at the top still works. But it bugs me I can't see the image he sees. Also when I go to photobooth with the messenger on, the camera does not work. There is a camera icon with a line across it. When I sign out of the messenger, the still camera works just fine.

I have looked at ichat and like it but it doesn't work with many of the above services. Also, I have seen some clients that may work with msn but chat only, not video. I want to be able to use video whenever possible.
