I thought , awhile ago, that you were able to hook 8 30" monitors to a mac pro. Can you still do this? and what would I need to do to get this setup? and what screens should I use?

The only serious (not homemade) solution is the Matrox TripleHead2Go DP Edition, but this solution only gives me a max resolution of 4080x768 (3x 1360x768).
Unfortunately I dont believe that would be enough to satisfy me needs.Â

Has anyone tried to have dual monitors connected to their Macbook? I bought my Macbook Pro in Oct 2009 and am trying to figure out which cables I need to hook it up to my new Sony Bravia TV. It's my understanding that Apple made a Macbook Pro that would allow video and audio to pass through the HDMI cables but I'm not sure if that's the one I have. It's being hooked up DVI, problem is, when it's plugged in, the picture on the Dell monitor I'm trying to use just jutters and shakes. I tried different resolution options and none worked, most just left the Dell monitor black. I calibrated the monitor and that stopped the shaking, but when I look at the monitor everything is too big and there are still tons of "bright" pixels in the background, along with some faint lines..it just isn't right.

1. The audio does not work. Is there a setting somewhere I must enable?

I have a Macbook Aluminium late 2008 (first gen), and am looking to buy an external monitor. The ones I have my eyes on right now is the Acer 24", which comes with VGA and HDMI.
- Which cable I need to hook my Macbook up to the external monitor? Should I get a miniDisplayPort to VGA adapter or a miniDisplayPort to HDMI adapter? What is the difference?
- Does audio work if I hook it up? ie. will I get sound if I plug my headphones into my new external display (NOT into my macbook)?
- Do I have to run it as dual displays at all times? or can I close the lid of the macbook, but still have the computer running on my external display?
- If I get the new Macbook Pro (when it comes out), do I need a new cable? I heard that it runs using the thunderbolt connection, does that mean I will need to get a new thunderbolt to HDMI or VGA adapter cable?
- And lastly, do I have to buy the apple branded cable adapters? Or will other (cheaper) ones do?

I am looking to get TV Tuner to hook up to my Mac mini (2009). I am looking at the Elgato EyeTV 250 Plus. However, I see so many TV Tuner choices from Elgato, I am not sure if the EyeTV 250 Plus is the only one that I should be looking at. I would appreciate some input from others. My provider is Cablevision.
I looked into Equinux TV Tuners, however, I feel they are dated. Could I be wrong?
i use my MBP as my main computer here in college. i saw a good deal on these speakers and my friend has the exact same speakers that he uses with his pc so i know the sound quality is good. the thing is that is 5.1 surround sound and he needed to buy a sound card 'cause you cant just plug it into the headphone/speaker outlet on the computer. i want these speakers, but since since i cant hook up a sound card ( or possibly just not know that i can) am i better off just lookin for another set of speakers.

I then will use my MBP to display the DVD through HDMI hook up to my LCD screen. What would be the best program to rip the DVD. I am new at this. understand that their might be encoding that I have to do. I also do not want a program that puts 'Evaluation Copy' over the image. I have downloaded Handbrake but I do not know if that is the best option for me.
