Mac Pro :: Connecting Two Samsung LED's?
Sep 25, 2010
I'm planning on getting two of this samsung monitor.
[URL]
The main connection out of the monitor is DVi. So I'm assuming I need to buy Apple's Mini Display Port to DVI Adpater, which is this link. [URL]

Is there a adaptor that I can use to connect my UMB to my Samsung Series 5 LCD via HDMI, or do I have to just go with the mini display port adapter?

I thought it would be pretty straight forward connecting my mbp to my lcd samsung. I'm using a belkin hdmi to dvi, and after I connect and select the input on the tv, all I see is the original os x background on the tv. Ao at least I am seeing something and the cable seems to be working, but that's all I see. I can't get anything else to display. When I watch instruction videos people just seem to get the whole desktop with dash and everything to display right after connecting.

I am trying to connect my macbook to my Samsung LCD TV. The TV is Samsungs 3 series, and has 2 HDMI, audio, optical, RCA and PC input. I hooked up the video via the display port-HDMI and used the HDMI 1 port on my TV. It looks great. I tried my 3.5 audio cable to plug into the audio input on the TV. No luck. The audio input seems to correspond to that PC input so I'm guessing that I have to use the PC input in order to get the audio to work as well. Is this accurate? If so does anyone recommend an audio connection type that would work? Maybe I'll just run to Best Buy to get a 3.5 audio cable to RCA.

i just bought a DVI to HDMI cable, to plug my macbook pro to my big samsung tv. I successfully connected them to eachother, but there was only 1 problem which ruins the whole experience. There are weird fuzzy colours all around the screen and is almost impossible to see anything.
Here you can see the DVI cable plugged in the MBP:
And on the tv screen everything looks messed up:
this is a brand new cable so i don't think it would be the problem, im only afraid maybe my DVI input would be broken.

I have a 2.4 GHz Aluminum MacBook which I'm trying to connect to a Samsung T220HD LCD monitor/TV.
I'm using the Mini Display to VGA adaptor.
I know the adaptor works b/c I can connect it to another external monitor at my work.
When I connect the MB to the monitor, the MB sees it b/c "Syncmaster" shows up after I detect displays. However, nothing shows on the T220HD screen. Sometimes, the LCD simply says, "There is no device connected."

At the moment I have a 24" iMac (early 2008 model) which has been a fantastic machine. But I would like to extend the screen size by plugging in either 1 or 2 extra monitors to spread my windows out. I'm a web designer now, doing things related to Wordpress, so it is useful to have all the applications open in front of me, without having to CMD + Tab between windows or use Spaces.
I asked at a local Apple reseller some time ago what options were available for pluging in an additional monitor. I was told it wasn't possible with the then newly launched Cinema display, but was told something might be possible using VGA and a third-party display.
I'm now thinking again about extending my display space. I note Apple state the 24" cinema display is now iMac compatible and I've since found various video's on YouTube showing multi-monitor configurations with the iMac. I've seen a Samsung SyncMaster P2450H (or very similar) in person and thought the picture quality was excellent. Online the SyncMaster P2450H picks up good reviews and is much cheaper than a Cinema display. So my questions are as follows:-
1) Would there be any compatiblity or other issues connecting the SyncMaster P2450H to an iMac?
2) What cables / adapters / splitters would be required for a single monitor or two monitor setup?
If anyone's got any experience of the SyncMaster P2450H or can suggest something better, I'd be interested to know.

I just purchased a 20" Samsung SyncMater P2050 LCD monitor to hook up to my Macbook. I also bought the mini-DVI to VGA adapter, the cabling is right. After powering on the Samsung and booting my MacBook the Samsung is recognized and the snow leopard desktop comes up on the Samsung. I am able to get to the monitor set up in the preferences window, and move the external monitor to where I want it. After a short time the Samsung screen starts pulsating, first at the out side edges of the display, it progressively gets worse, ad then the screen goes black. This happens every time after I shut down the Samsung, and then power it back on.

I just got my Sammy HDTV/Monitor, which is a 23" 1080p HDTV. However, when I connect my MBP via my mini-displayport to HDMI adapter, the screen gets cut off on the top and the bottom. I have tried to switch the resolutions from 1080p to 720p, but it still does the same thing. It gets off both when I use the external as a secondary monitor and when I mirror the displays and use it as a primary monitor. When I turn overscan off in System Prefs, the 1080p image shrinks and there are black bars around all sides (however, it does show the entire screen). Does anyone know how to fix this? I want to get the most out of my recent purchase, and I know this is possible because I've seen it.

I just hooked up my MBP to my Samsung TB using a MDP to HDMI adapter for my HDMI cable. I choose the "mirror" option under the display window in system pref. The issue is that the menu bar on top is cut of from my samsung tv. Is there any solution for this? How could I fill the screen so that I can see everything that I would see on my MBP monitor?

I replaced my main drive, the 320GB with a 750GB Samsung F1. It seems to work fine. However it seems to have set up some sort of sympathetic vibration in the Mac Pro, which sounds like Hummm Hummm Hummm. Where as all the other things that cause noise in the case are a consistant and steady tone, this one is not. It's driving me nuts. Is this normal to be making this noise? I've tried it in different bays and it makes no difference.
UPDATE I've taken all the drives out except the F1, as I installed another DVD drive and three HD's and the noise has gone, so I'm now going to load each drive and review.

A week ago I bought a new color-laser printer that fitted my shelves perfect. I wanted to print by wireless so I bought the Time Capsule and it has just arrived. But now i'm having a very hard time printing by wireless.
First of all i updated the drivers on printer and Time Capsule (TC).
Then i turned the printer ON and plugged it in to the TC.
Then i turned the TC ON and configurated it with the AirPort-tool (Newest Version). The TC is perfectly seeing the printer and i am having a perfect connection.

I recently purchased a 2009 Mac Pro (ATI 4870) and am using it with the 22" Samsung SyncMaster2253LW monitor. I'm no monitor expert, but a lot of videos etc look highly pixelated etc. The Desktop and everything else is fine. Most of the options aren't accessible esp the contrast. I have it connected via DVI and VGA :P Does DVI or VGA mark a major difference?
I know the monitor is a bit old. It's dynamic contrast is 8000:1. Is it purely because of the monitor that the graphics look so cheap and pixelated? Even the DVDRips look quite cheap.
Do movie quality improve cause of the graphics card? Ofcourse on my compact 13" MB, DVDRips look brilliant. Should I get a better monitor? I feel my poor 4870 is feeling unused.

I just purchased a Samsung Series 4 Model 530 monitor, 32 inch, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. Can this effectively be used as the main monitor for my new Mac Pro laptop? I can NOT find this resolution in the prefs anywhere, and do not know if I can really use this monitor. I work in print design, and as a result, I am always viewing typography in great detail.

My wife and I have never had a TV and have always watched DVD's on our not-even-one-year-old MacBook Pro and after moving into a house, yada yada yada, we finally purchased a Samsung LN46C630 LCD TV.
Now, we aren't ready to buy a Blu-Ray player yet so we want to continue to watch DVD's on our MBP and hook it up to the TV and watch it from there.

I purchased a Samsung SL820 camera that also records HD video at 1280x720 encoded using the H.264 codec. ( http://www.dcresource.com/news/newsitem.php?id=3880 )
I first noticed a problem when I imported video into iPhoto and watched it with Quicktime 10. It plays back perfectly, so I tried to publish the video to MobileMe's gallery and the result was a blank white video. I assumed there was a problem with compatibility with MobileMe, and gave up trying to do that.
But then today I wanted to do some basic editing and launched iMovie and it pulled in the iPhoto videos. I had videos from 3 different cameras in there, and all worked except the Samsung's video. It showed a filmstrip of thumbnails for the video, but when I mouse over the video preview window it doesn't change the video and it will not play back the video. I can select a range from the filmstrip thumbnails, but it simply doesn't playback.
Is this a known issue or am I 'special'? Is there anyone using an SL820 with iMovie '09? Its very frustrating because my intention with this camera was to replace a Panasonic PV-GS250, but thus far the PV-GS250, a 5+ year old camera produces better video (lower resolution, but few compression artifacts since its DV and better color quality (3CCD) without the odd white-balance changing issue I've seen with the SL820 in its auto-mode.
That said, I still want to get my old videos to work with iMovie. I recognize that I can export them, run ffmpeg on them to convert them to another format, then import them again, but right now I'm stumped as to why the H.264 video is not working with iMovie. The specs I read on iMovie say that it supports that format. This camera came highly recommended for its picture quality, but I've been unimpressed from either the still photos or the video. The PV-GS250 produces better video results, and my Nikon D60 produces much better photos (expected- but I thought they would be closer)
Why this camera works with Quicktime 10 playback but won't work the codec for export from QT10 or for iMovie '09.

I knew about a lot of problems with Lion and Printers, even here on this Forum I see quite a lot of posts ...but I hoped not for my Samsung CLP-310 Laser Color.I was wrong, because after a software update relating Samsung Printer (and before the update didn't print anyway ...),I'm still not able to print.I've tried to print out just after the update process without any result, so I've rebooted ... nothing, same problem.System Preference "Printer" panel says it's ok, the printer has a nice green bullet aside the icon, status not active and so on as on SnowLeopard; everything seems good, but when I print an advice reports an error "You need update the printer software, do you want I search for you ?" ... Ok, my dear search for me ... but after a while "No software updates available".

new Samsung Plasma television and have not been successful in attempting to connect my MacBook Pro to it. Here's what I've done thus far. I'm not sure of what the port is called on my MacBook, but I regularly use it at work to connect to a separate monitor so I know it works. I believe it's some type of DVI port but I know it's not a mini-dvi because I initially bought a mini-dvi adapter and that didn't fit the port. But I've got an adapter that plugs into that port, and converts to DVI. Then a second adapter that converts DVI to HDMI. Then I have a HDMI to HDMI cable that connects to my tv.
