Coming from a portable background, and having dropped a few thousand on a Mac Pro last week, I thought I'd be able to skimp on buying a mic for Skype by using the new mic feature on Apple earphones...not so!
Bit weird, that they work on the MacBook range which already have an included mic, but not the desktops, which don't!
Just an observation... would a software update cure it?
I don't have an iPod. Yet. Often when I'm biking and have to carry my computer, I simply put it in my backpack and connect my headphones to the computer through the gap between the zippers. This allows me to listen to music, which is nice... right? Anyways, the problem is, or perhaps it's not a problem but entirely normal, that I can't control iTunes with the remote on the headphones.
I'm currently running Mac OS X Tiger, 10.4.11. It's a black Macbook, bought around 2006 - 2007.
My question is, is there anyway to make the remote on the headphones work with iTunes? Do I need a plugin of some sort? Skipping/pausing songs, changing volume, all that jazz. It's not a necessity, but it would definitely be preferred.
Is there a usb ir port that you can use with the Mac Pro + apple remote?

I purchased a new iMac and believed it b be compromised after a few weeks use and it was remotely wiped but the password was not kept or remembered. Currently there is a grey screen with a 4 digit box and a red sentence that says it is disabled try again in 60 minutes...I took the machine to an apple reseller and they couldn't do anything , there is no apple store near where I live. Can this machine be made to work again or is it useless.

I know this is kind of off topic and the logo does not make the product any different but I found it a little odd that Apple decided to not to put their logo on the remote. It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.

I rebooted my computer and I notice that once the loggin screen shows up the cursor won't budge. Then I try hitting Enter on my mac and the arrow keys a little. Nothing. I currently have a 17 inch Sylvania (Tan) and I've been saving up for a 30 inch ACD for 12 months now and I manage to put away $3,000, I know that's more then enough to purchase the current 30 inch ACD but my question to you guys is should I wait until Apple release the rest of LED Cinema Displays 20-30 Inch Displays for the desktops, I kinda like the new ones and hope it will come out at MacWorld 2009, do you guys think the rest of the LED ACD will come out at MacWorld 2009 and do you think it's worth waiting for? I'm not in a rush to purchase LED ACD because if Apple doesn't come out with adapters for mini display port then I might have to buy a new video card that supports mini display-port in order to work on my Mac Pro.

Basically, when I start it up, the displays just stays black for some time, until the Desktop loads up and the computer is functional, but never displays the gray screen with the Apple logo. This just happened all of a sudden and stayed like this.
I know is not a big deal now, but I'd like to sell it in the near future and this could be problematic for that.
