Mac Pro :: Apple's In-Ear Headphones Remote/Mic Disabled Only On Desktops?
May 11, 2009
Coming from a portable background, and having dropped a few thousand on a Mac Pro last week, I thought I'd be able to skimp on buying a mic for Skype by using the new mic feature on Apple earphones...not so!
Bit weird, that they work on the MacBook range which already have an included mic, but not the desktops, which don't!
Just an observation... would a software update cure it?
I don't have an iPod. Yet. Often when I'm biking and have to carry my computer, I simply put it in my backpack and connect my headphones to the computer through the gap between the zippers. This allows me to listen to music, which is nice... right? Anyways, the problem is, or perhaps it's not a problem but entirely normal, that I can't control iTunes with the remote on the headphones.
I'm currently running Mac OS X Tiger, 10.4.11. It's a black Macbook, bought around 2006 - 2007.
My question is, is there anyway to make the remote on the headphones work with iTunes? Do I need a plugin of some sort? Skipping/pausing songs, changing volume, all that jazz. It's not a necessity, but it would definitely be preferred.
I am on an iMac Intel, OS X 10.6.3. This morning, a "remote installer" line appeared near the Apple icon on top of the screen, but very briefly. I could not even capture it.
Should I worry?
Little Snitch 2.2.1.is installed but I have given permanent access (not the "until this session closes"one ) to a few reliable requests such as Apple
I purchased a new iMac and believed it b be compromised after a few weeks use and it was remotely wiped but the password was not kept or remembered. Currently there is a grey screen with a 4 digit box and a red sentence that says it is disabled try again in 60 minutes...I took the machine to an apple reseller and they couldn't do anything , there is no apple store near where I live. Can this machine be made to work again or is it useless.
Info: iMac (27-inch, Late 2013), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
My Apple ID is in good standing (or else I wouldn't be posting in this community). But when I try to make a purchase in iTunes, it stops me saying that my Apple ID has been disabled..This has been going on all day, so it's not a matter of waiting for the system to update with my new email address (I wouldn't think).I've tried authorizing this computer for iTunes, and it is already authorized. What else should I try?
I reset my password many times for my apple ID, yet when I go to update my apps in itunes it says my apple ID is disabled. After reseting my password 4 times. Can anyone please tell me why I still can't update my 76 apps that need to be updated
When I try to make a purchase in iTunes, I get a message saying my Apple ID is disabled.Resetting my password does not eliminate this error message.Changing the payment method associated with my Apple ID from "None" to a valid payment method does not eliminate this error message. This problem occurred because someone used my Apple ID to make unauthorized In-App purchases totaling $39.96 USD. Apple support refunded me the amount. But now my Apple ID is disabled. The message does not state the reason for it being disabled. The message does not state that the ID is disabled due to security reasons. It just says that it is disabled.
Info:MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
I was hacked like 6 days ago and 61$ were stolen from my account. Did apple help? NO. Did paypal help? NOT YET. And now, I haven't been able to do **** with my phone since it has been disable for the last 5 days. So how am I getting it back?
I was trying to connect my Apple headphones, that came with my iPhone, to my computer, and they were unresponsive. I tried connecting and reconnecting it various times but none worked. I don't really know what the deal is. Audio just continues to play through the speakers, even if the headphone are in. This is the first time it ever happened.
I've had my apple Id disabled due to security reasons. Do I have to create a new apple id? Will I lose all of my iTunes and data if I have to change my apple I'd to a new one since the app store will no longer recognize my apple Id?
i have an apple tv and the universal dock(1st gen), the remote that comes with the apple tv also controls the universal dock, but i want the remote to only control the apple tv not the universal dock, every time i play something in the apple tv my iPhone which is connected to the dock also plays a song.
I know this is kind of off topic and the logo does not make the product any different but I found it a little odd that Apple decided to not to put their logo on the remote. It's made out of aluminum and has enough space on the back for a logo to be present. Apple put's their logo on everything that has enough space for one. The old remote had it, mouse, keyboard, MacBook/MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro, iPod's, iPhone, docks, and gift cards all have it. Their earphones don't have it because they are to small to put a logo without making them look stupid. I wonder what Jonathan Ive and Jobs were thinking when they decided to not put the logo. The back of the remote almost seems bare without it.
Still don't understand. When I try to make a purchase I get an error about my apple id being disabled but I can access my apple account without a problem.
While trying to fix my disabled USB ports on my MBP, (Installing some sort of USB driver that wasn't made for my specific OS, which is 10.7.4, which came from the apple website.) I rebooted my computer and I notice that once the loggin screen shows up the cursor won't budge. Then I try hitting Enter on my mac and the arrow keys a little. Nothing. Then I try using every key on the keyboard. Absolutely nothing. Tried resetting the PRAM, SMC, AND tried using Safe Boot. Nothing. At this point I wanted to smash my computer or smash something technology related. The only thing that works on my computer now is the little slim of hope that I call Windows 7 which I am posting this from.Is there ANYTHING I can do to enable my Trackpad and Keyboard again?
I currently have a 17 inch Sylvania (Tan) and I've been saving up for a 30 inch ACD for 12 months now and I manage to put away $3,000, I know that's more then enough to purchase the current 30 inch ACD but my question to you guys is should I wait until Apple release the rest of LED Cinema Displays 20-30 Inch Displays for the desktops, I kinda like the new ones and hope it will come out at MacWorld 2009, do you guys think the rest of the LED ACD will come out at MacWorld 2009 and do you think it's worth waiting for? I'm not in a rush to purchase LED ACD because if Apple doesn't come out with adapters for mini display port then I might have to buy a new video card that supports mini display-port in order to work on my Mac Pro.
you just connect to a wirelss network and you use the internet with out conneciting any cables Like my friend has a HP desktop and it has built in wireless aka WIFI
I'm noticing some weird behavior in my Mac Pro first gen.
Basically, when I start it up, the displays just stays black for some time, until the Desktop loads up and the computer is functional, but never displays the gray screen with the Apple logo. This just happened all of a sudden and stayed like this.
I know is not a big deal now, but I'd like to sell it in the near future and this could be problematic for that.
