Often when my mac mini wakes up from sleeping I can move the mouse cursor for a few seconds, but then I get the pinwheel/beachball of death and my mac will freeze for about 5 minutes.†I've had this issue for at least the last 6 months.†I have the latest version of Lion 10.7, my mini is less than a year old.
I am running Mac Mini as a home server (turns out to be not a great idea, btw), and even though I set the preference to never sleep or shut down, it does go to sleep when there is no activity for long time. Since I am using it as home server, it should stay awake all the time or at least wake up from sleep when there is incoming ping from other computer, but it just goes to sleep.
Is it possible to switch off the mains when the Mac Mini is in sleep mode?
I've only had MBPs in the recent years and appreciate their low impact on my electricity bill very much - letting them sleep unplugged does make a difference. Now I'm contemplating a Mac Mini and while I know its power consumption is as low as with the notebooks (if not lower without display), I'm wondering if the Mini needs the current in sleep mode. I assume it does, but I'd rather know than guess.
So this past week when my mini hasn't stayed in sleep mode, it shuts itself down about a minute later after being in sleep mode. I haven't changed any of my settings in a year and a half, normally it would stay in sleep mode until i come back to it and logged on again. When it does shut down i just cannot power back on i have to unplug the adapter then replug it in for it to start up again. I've searched google and on here for possible ideas. I wouldn't think it to be overheating since I'm not running any applications when i put it in sleep. It might be the power supply since i have to do that process to get it to work again. Let me know what could be causing this or ways to troubleshoot this problem.
I updated to Lion, but now my mail looks like outlook I want it to look like it did before I updated with the list of messages above which can be sorted easily by date/subject/sender etc.....simply by clicking on header above.  Now my messages are on the left and it looks just like the outlook mail account I hate at work? how to make it look like it did before I updated?
I have had Lion since the day it came out, and this is the first time I've encountered this problem. All of the applications that I have downloaded and installed before yesterday worked perfectly. Then, out of the blue, any application that I install or update (not from the App store) refuses to launch. It either bounces forever in the dock or does nothing when it is clicked.
The only system changes I have made are installing Photoshop CS6 Beta and Steam. So far, I've tried:
- Permissions & Disk repair through the Lion recovery partition
- Removing and re-downloading the apps
- Running in 32-Bit mode
I'm running 10.7.3, with all the latest updates installed, on a mid-2011 Macbook Pro. Restoring from a TM backup is not really a viable option currently, since my backup drive is 50 miles away and unavailable for the next week and a half
As time passed, we have many, many computers around our institution. At some point, users were able to update their individual software without admin assistants. However, we have changed the policy, and users can't do this anymore. Therefore, is there an easy way to push updates to multiple apple computers? The apps that need to be updated include:†
1. Apple OS
2. Individual Applications
3. Apple Firmware
If you could list what product works best, and if Apple does have a in-house solution.
Updated this morning. Then it would not hold a wifi connection for more than 5 seconds at a time. Had to use Lion Recovery to install a Time Machine backup to 10.7.2. That took over two hours. After that wifi was semi-ok. Lion has always had a problem with wifi. I am very disappointed with how Apple has handled the Lion rollout. wifi think twice before installing this update.
I updated to Lion os x and now can not use Microsft Office 2004, I cant open it or uninstall it, it just says powerPC applications are no longer supported.I have lost all emails on Entourage and can only retrieve emails via hostway that have been delivered today.
Trying to get help from Apple care is a nightmare as they need a serial number, which Lion being a digital download does not have one only web order number, which does not work when I put in serial box.
I recently upgraded to Lion (desktop not server) and now my HDD sharing with Windows 7 is not working like it used to. If I boot back in to Snow Leopard (diferent HDD) it's all working fine.  My windows 7 PCs can access my shared Mac Pro RAID no problem. If I boot in to Lion they can 'sometimes' connect but mostly not.  To get them to connect I seem to have to use the IP address instead of the system name (\MACPROLIONRaid) like I used to with SL.Nothing changed on the Windows 7 system at all, other than now I get the infuriating dialog tellmy my password is incorrect. Some unknown sequence of rebooting one or both machines, sometimes multiple times, will let me access the mac, but I have no idea what's going on here.
I updated to mac os x lion and can no longer play older blizzard games such as starcraft, warcraft 3, and diablo 2. For some reason it is no longer supported is there an update I need to get to play this software?
Just updated to lion and my cctv access has stopped functioning all I get is a white screen in the middle of the control panel where the camera shots should be.  I think it is caused by JAVA but am confused as when i view on snow leopard it works

I have purchases lion before in my app store how every I am unable to find my app store to fine the lion that i paid for to download.where i can find the app store to download it again that i have paid for,
I upgraded to Lion and although I can still use my Epson Photo R380 as a paper printer, the Epson Print CD is not functioning (It's says for Power PCs). It seems Epson has not updated that software yet, if ever. I need to print on my CDs with the Epson printer.†I have tried the Magic Mouse software. Does not work either...
Yesterday I updated the software to OS X 10.8.5 and since then I haven't been able to use multiple programs such as Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. What I should do to make the programs work again.
I just updated now to MAC OX X Lion to 10.7.4 on my 2011 MB AIR. I noticed upon restart or shutdown, it takes around 15 seconds now. Before the update, it just takes less than 2 seconds to restart/shutdown.
I have Mac mini 2.26 (2009) OS 10.6.3. with apple wireless keyboard and magic mouse. For some time now my mini wakes from sleep for no reason after 20 minutes. I have checked kernel.log and it says that ohc=2 is the reason for wake up. It seems to be bluetooth keyboard or mouse. When I turn off "allow bluetooth devices to wake..." everything seems to be ok. Is there a way to fix this because I would like to be able to wake mini with keyboard.
I purchased a 2009 Mac Mini in January this and I am loving it. Ever since I got it the machine does not go to sleep even with settings set and every program closed. The only way I can get it to go to sleep is by hitting the apple button and sleep. Sometimes I am not always here and would like it to go to sleep automatically.
Like a naughty child, my Mac Mini server (i7 2Ghz, OS X 10.7.3) won't go to sleep. I use it as a personal computer, not a server, and I like to put it to sleep at night. But about 20 seconds after going to sleep, it wakes up again.
I've shut off all the server functions I can think of, and it's still waking up. Is there any way to determine WHAT is waking it up when I put it to sleep?
