Just bought a 2.53ghz 4g RAM MacBook Pro, just wondering what version of Windows 7 will give me the best performance (through boot camp). I might get the Ultimate edition but should I install the 32/64/86 edition? I'll be using it to run Windows program (obviously) and the occasional L4D2 or TF2 through Steam. I'd like to hear some of user experiences with various versions.

Has anyone tried running L4D2 in BootCamp? I was thinking about taking a punt on the original then I noticed that 2 was out. My Macbook runs Bioshock at medium settings, not the highest of frame rates but it's perfectly playable, but I'm not sure if it'll be able to handle L4D2. (Core2Duo 2ghz, 4gb DDR3, Nvidia9400M, XP 32-bit sp3).

Install goes fine, ive been formatting the drive as FAT.
Once XP has booted i put the mac install disc in to update drivers and what not, every time i do this i get the error 2869.
I also got this error when trying to install steam.
I'm running a new Macbook pro 15 in - 2.8 Duo with 9600 gt. Bootcamp with Windows 7 build 7100. My internal mic works in other applications, but for some reason, when I try to play Steam games, it doesn't pic up any audio coming through it. Tried +voice_forcemicrecord 0 in the Steam startup options. I have only installed drivers from the OSX DVD and one from Nvidia for the graphics card. Any ideas why this is happening? Other folks seem to be able to get their internal mics to work with Steam.

I have access to any relevant Windows version at pretty low prices through my university and I downloaded the Win7 RC and still have a valid key for that. View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having a display issue with my MacBook (mid-2007) I am getting occasional pixelation on darker colors. The pixels turn redish/purplish/pinkish...If I press on the screen near the Apple logo (on the top cover) and on the lcd screen I can sometimes get the issue to go away. When I plug in an external monitor the pixelation does not show up on the external monitor but will stay on the laptop lcd display. I do have windows also installed and the pixelation shows up in windows as well.... So my thinking that it is likely an issue with the LCD cable or LCD display....

Ok, Here is the scoop. I am trying to get Wifi to work on my macbook while on XP. When I put in the disk and it says "The package requires a newer version of Windows Installer. Would you like to update?" I say yes and it says "The requires resoruce update is missing." and if I click no it says "The operation is aborted." or something.

For example, even I did not click on the trackpad, it did it by itself. Is it a driver problem or setting problem? I know that under bootcamp, we can change the trackpad settings. View 14 Replies View RelatedA couple months back, I noticed that the right palmrest of my unibody MacBook had a collection of fine scratches, like someone brushed it with steel wool (it can only be see in certain lighting conditions though). At first I thought that one of my siblings had caused the scratches by wearing a metal bracelet while borrowing my MacBook. However, more recently I've noticed that the left palmrest also now has the same type of scratches.
Since I discovered the first scratches I've been careful to make sure that anyone who uses my MacBook takes off any jewelry that might scratch it so I'm sure that that's not the cause. Otherwise I can only think that maybe the moisture or occasional sweat from my hands has reacted in some way with the aluminum. Seems weird but I don't know what else to think. I didn't think aluminum would wear easily either but could that be it? Any ideas would be appreciated.
I Recently installed on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) windows7 and then updated to windows8. I'm now unable to install Bootcamp on the windows OS due to compatibility issues.

I had a desktop that I would normally game with but now that my sister is using it for schoolwork, that's not possible. I never even thought about using my mbp for gaming, let alone a 13" model, but now I'm getting desperate. I don't plan on running anything that intense. I usually play some Team Fortress 2 and Counter-strike: Source. My main question is: for those of you that have had experience, which would be a better solution for me? Using Bootcamp and installing Windows XP or getting Steam for Mac? I'm not sure how the process goes for Bootcamp. I'm imagining you would have to dedicate some hard drive space. On the other hand, I've heard that Steam on Mac runs pretty slow compared to it's Windows counterpart. Anyone know if this is true? Appreciate the help.

Well now I can't play stagecraft 2 (like it ran good anyway), and get get on steam (like it ran good anyway). When trying to login to steam it prompts me that steam needs to self-update before launching. So I enter my name / password and nothing happens. I'm going to college in 2011 and I do hope to do a tad bit of gaming during part of my free time. I currently have a early 2008 Macbook Pro with a 2.4 ghz intel core 2 duo processor and 2 gb of ram along with a 256 nvidia 8600m GT graphics card and a 5400 rpm 200 gb hdd. I can run call of duty 4 at almost maximum settings with little to no tearing, blurring, or lag during both single player and online play. Would the macbook air be faster than my current system? Could I run games like left for dead 2 or the steam ww2 game (i forgot what it's called) at medium to good quality? How about with the current macbook air? Would the macbook pro be a better choice? I absolutely love the size of the macbook air and the appeal of steam is that I don't need to use a disk to run the games (which would be good on a macbook air).
