I am having problems with video and high content webpages freezing.I am also getting pixel lines across my webpages. Maybe two or three lines. I was running os 10.4 but I just up graded to 10.6 the other day. I have 2GB of RAM.

I purchased the ati 5770 video card upgrade in anticipation of moving my household to HD. Yes, I knw it's been out for awhile, but I had invested in DVR's and so on and wanted to get my money's worth befor addopting new technology. Anyway, poped in the card, booted up, everything is fine. Then today I get an HD video and instead of playing I get a message about my display not being compliant This movie can be played only on displays that support HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). I was all set to purchase the 27" apple display, but if it's not going to play purchased video, what's the point?If I had a mini display port monitor attached would it play? Or am I going to get the same error message?

I am a mac newbie.Webages that include youtube videos were loading fine. I upgraded to Safari 5 and also installed VLC player not long after.Now there is a blank space where videos would be on a web page.Is this a flas issue? How do I correct?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just got my new MacBook Pro and am already having annoying issues. For some reason, Safari fails to show video in web pages. For instance, videos from apple (any of them, including trailers). I get the controls and audio - but instead of video, just a blank screen. I'm using Snow Leopard. Looks like a problem with quicktime. I can see youtube videos, for instance. In Firefox, it asks me to download a plug-in to see the videos, but it can't find any.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am a home theatre enthusiast, and I have setup Plex, Boxee, Netflix, Hulu, Front Row and Etc. The menus and interfaces are absolutely stunning and the customization of them are endless. So now I have this 27in LED iMac with greater than 1080p Resolution and these Apps look great but I want the content to look as good as the menus. Aside from the iTunes pseudo (low frame rate) HD, does anyone have any suggestions of a resource for "stunning" video content to match my beautiful 27in screen. It sure would have been nice to have a Blu Ray option. Hopefully the "bag of hurt" will soon be sitting on my desk killing me with pain.

Can successfully remove the video, and that stops the reload during subsequent syncs. If the content is put back, the reloading starts again in subsequent syncs. Â
Not the worst problem, but a big time and data consumer, and very annoying. I have tried the following without success of stopping this behavior;
1.)Â Deleted the video in question from my library and downloaded it again from Apple.
2.)Â Downloaded/Reinstalled iTunes from Apple on my laptop.
3.)Â Device soft reset.
4.)Â Device factory reset and restored.Â
My current system is;Â OSX 10.9.3 and iTunes 11.2.2 running on MacBook Pro, while OS Version 7.1.1 resides on my iPhone 5S and iPad2.Â
I was watching a video on Hulu, and suddently I got a error that the website could not load. Since then, I can't load most pages (yet oddly I have found one page that still works.) Network diagnostics says that everything is working fine... and I can still connect to everything just fine with with my MacBook and iPhone on the same network. I have the same problem whether I am trying to use Safari or Google Chrome..

I've searched all over the internet but have yet to come across an answer. I love my Mac, but why is it that when I play a video in a web browser on my MacBook, (be it Flash, QuickTime, etc.) my CPU usage is anywhere from 60-80%, yet when I play the same video on a laptop running Windows, the CPU usage is always in the single digits?
I realize that video takes a toll on the CPU with integrated video cards, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect on Windows based laptops with integrated video cards. Is the CPU usage possibly just calculated differently, or is the Mac architecture somehow just really inefficient at this?
I was tempted to put this in the 'Safari' section, but after a little more trial I thought it went deeper than that. The issue is, for about two weeks now, i'll be surfing the web and then head to one of my commonly visited websites (namely Wikipedia, Google, Huffington Post, and this website) and though I'm fully connected to the internet, the pages won't load and i get the "Server Not Found" noitce.Â
I don't, however, have this problem with ALL webpages when this is happening to the others. Gmail, Facebook, Mediaite, etc. all have no issue and they work just fine. Â
Primarily I use Google Chrome as my browser. So the first thing i did was clear the cache to see if it would help, but nothing changed. So i opened both Safari and Firefox and they both suffer the same problem. After about 60 seconds the issue goes away and all things are normal again. About 10 to 15 minutes later, if I'm still surfing the web, the problem may creep back up again. I can't say for sure but I've noticed that this typically happens when I first try to go to those pages after a few hours of not using the net.Â
When this happens, I've also tried loading these pages on my iPhone and iPad during the 60 seconds and have encountered the same problem. Using a Wireless internet connection thru a cable modem.
Does anyone with a Mac Pro '08 and up run it with 2 high end cards? ATI 4870, 5870 and/or GTX 285 are the ones I'm thinking of.On my MP '09, I currently run a 20" off the GT 120 and the GTX 285 on a 24". I have another 24" coming in (the Apple LED), so it requires me to use the GT 120. For gaming purposes, I'm considering getting a 2nd high end card for the new 24" instead of letting the old 20" act as a slave on the GTX 285 (trying to minimize load on the gtx285, again for gaming).

I realise there has already been a thread on this, but the existing thread is rather as confusing there appeared to be issues with the Transformers clip tested by many people, the configurations of MacBook Air were not listed with the results and since then, we have also had Mac OS X 10.5.2 released so I thought it might be nice to condense everyones results in an easy to read format:

If any MacBook Air owners have the time to try a trailer or two off Apple's website Basically, the only reason I will buy the 1.8GHz processor is if it ensures successful playback of 1080p because the 1.6GHz drops too many frames.
After a frustrating 2 years of video editing on a PC (crash/freeze/loss of work etc), I'm looking to switch to Mac and Final Cut. Even editing high quality SD video (720p/720i), would it be insane to buy a Mac Mini? Would it not be powerful enough? My other option is waiting for the next iMac refresh.

I'm going to try and keep this as simple as possible. Last night I went to use my imac and for some reason every wed page I would try and go to either wouldn't open, would time out, or would load so slowly as to be almost no use at all. I reset my modem (I use a wired, ethernet connection) and everything was fine with the internet connection (or so it seemed) because I checked to see if I was able to torrent for instance and that worked just fine. The problem seemes to be based solely around browsing the internet (using both safari and chrome).

I just installed windows 7 onto my mac with bootcamp. And I noticed that I have high CPU usage everytime when I watch a video from youtube or nba. My cpu usage would jump from 30% to 98% momentarily. What is the cause of this?

I have had my black macbook for a little over 2 years it is a c2d 2.16. It has ran flawlessly until recently it has been freezing during video playback. Mostly during online streaming like hulu or netflix. The screen usually gets these little red or green dots all over it when it happens. A couple times the the sound continued but usually it stops. What is going on? It has happened almost every day for a couple weeks now. I am running the latest version of OSX
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo the time has come that I bought a 5D Mark II and have begun editing a lot of HD footage, and my Mac Pro's current hard drive setup will not suffice. My current setup: Bay 1 = WD Raptor X 150GB 10,000RPM (OS, Final Cut Studio 2, Adobe CS3, etc) Bay 2 = Apple-supplied WD 320GB 7200RPM (Music/iPhoto libraries, small Windows partition) Bay 3 = Samsung Spinpoint 500GB 7200RPM (Media dump/scratch disk for editing, as well as my spillover Applications folder, etc) Bay 4 = Empty I'm looking to revamp this setup, as I'm struggling in many ways. First off, my main boot drive being the Raptor 10,000RPM was a dumb idea. Yes, it is faster, but I can't install the full OS X, FCS2, CS3 packages and my regular cornucopia of apps without leaving ~1-5GB free. I feel that this kills any speed gain because the drive is full to the brim, and for such a minimal speed increase I'm working with a very very low ceiling of free space. I'm considering ditching this and going with a bigger 7200rpm drive so I don't have to worry about running with a filled up drive again. Here's my idea. I was thinking of getting a 1 or 1.5TB 7200RPM drive to run the OS on and also store my footage, keep all my applications, downloads, etc. Then I could move my 150GB Raptor X out to bay 4 and make that my project scratch disk for video editing(not sure it'd be big enough for larger projects). And then if I had any money left, I would axe the 320 and put another 1TB in its place. Or I could save money and get that new nVidia card for the Mac Pro (I still have the stock HD2600).
I boot windows and play games, but rarely. Would this upgraded video card help with video editing or rendering effects significantly enough to justify the ~$400 pricetag? Or should I save my money and buy camera equipment? More importantly, any recommendations for the quickest/most reliable 1-1.5TB drive out there? or should I avoid them? I don't want to spend a ton of money so I'm not looking to do expensive RAID setups or anything, i'm not editing uncompressed.
Have noticed of recent that when i am watching movies on my laptop (avi's) after about 30 min the movie will freeze. at first i thought it was the file but trying files that i have known previously to work i have found that they also freeze now.
i have also noticed that when trying to upload files via FTP they will freeze half way and timeout.
i have run disk verify, and it has come back fine have tested the RAM using techtool pro and that also came back fine.
I recently (3 days of writing this) was playing World of Warcraft and my Mac completely froze. The only way to escape this is by turning the computer on and off. Ever since, any time I open a video game application, within a few seconds my Mac will completely freeze. On occasion my screen will freeze but my mouse will work, albeit in reverse (left is right, up is down, etc.) and will move incredibly fast. No other applications are affected in such a manner and since this is only occuring during graphics intense video games, I suspect my graphics card is causing this.

I have been having crippling WiFi problems were I am forced to reload webpages 20-30 times before the page loads fully. I have tried many things and even upgraded the RAM to 8gb, and I still have the same problem. I have also tried resseting the WiFi, router, and iMac and it seems my problem is more complicated than that. I have run a test too and I had no lost packets. The strange thing is after a webpage not loading, if I refresh the page 20-30 times it finally loads!

I purchased a new 27 inch 2.8 imac 2 months ago I'm having problems with the computer/screen going black (sometimes grey with vertical lines) and freezing.
This happens frequently when I'm playing World of Warcraft but has recently started to happen when I'm watching youtube videos in full screen. (Do you think its the graphics card?) I originally ran WOW in bootcamp but I had this problem in Windows as well. The only thing I can do when this happens is force the computer off. This happened so often that something got damaged and I had to reinstall OSX. Since this incident I have not reinstalled Windows via bootcamp.
I've been working on some making some video clips that are ipod commericals (to eventually do the whole thing on imovie) but after 4-5 videos being finished, I work on the next one and right in the middle of rendering, it just freezes and doesn't do anything else, or when I try to just export it it does that, but before it works fine. I tried removing a couple extra effects I aded, and it still does it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI may be using the incorrect terminology, but videos like u-tube, are very slow, to the point of just sitting there, frozen, while it "loads" for a minute or two, then runs for a couple of seconds, then stops to load again, sometimes for several minutes.
I have the small macbook, with SL, 2.4 GHz, 2 GB, 667 MHz. I know this is a standard problem, but there must be something I can do to make it better. I thought maybe the SL would help, but no.
I'm running a Macbook with 4 gb of RAM.
My FireFox is constantly "hiccupping" with video playback - for instance, YouTube videos. The video freezes up every 10 seconds or so for about 2-3 seconds as the audio continues, then the video unfreezes. Even as I type this, things I'm entering in this box aren't showing up for a second or two.
Additionally, I have certain Flash videos that won't play. I have the newest Flash player and Adobe Flash's website test says my Flash Player is working.
I don't have any of these problems in Safari, but I like FireFox a lot more (Add-ins, NORMALLY a faster browser, better GUI, etc.).
I've tried reinstalling Flash and disabling Adblock (I hear it's the cause for stuff a lot of times) but nothing has worked.
I've been trying to print the whole ten pages of PDF file but, only first page is the page that I can print.

Google programs won't let me sign in and Safari keeps shutting down. I'm unable to save files to the time machine or airport or a flash drive that's formated for mac. I finally gave up on saving my things and using the recovery disks that came with my computer I reinstalled the system. It took an hour for the disk to run and then I used the second disk to install the apps. However, when the computer rebooted all of my things are still there. MSN messenger for mac, divx, aim, and some other programs that I had installed seprately after purchasing the computer. I wanted factory settings. I told it to formate the hard drive.They might be what's causing my problems? Also, why does the delete button keep taking me off this board and I can't see what I'm typing it keeps scrolling off page!

It reads commercial CD's fine but any CDR shows up as a blank CD. This happens with multiple brands and the CDR's play in a car stereo and are read by other computers. I can burn blank CDR's just fine. The problem is recognizing the content once they have been burned. I have seen this issue posted as far back as 2008 on some boards but no solutions other than replace the superdrive. I find it hard to believe that I would have a bad drive already given Apple's reputation for great products and the age of my computer especially since the warranty just expired in October.
