OS X :: Internet / Printer Sharing - Connection Drops Intermittently
Sep 30, 2009I'm having issues with using Internet Sharing on my Mac mini. It works perfectly fine for a while, then the connection drops. Printer sharing seems to drop in the same intermittent way. If I turn off Internet Sharing and turn it back on, everything starts working again. I'm running 10.6 on both the mini and the laptop I'm trying to get wireless internet on.

Jan 9, 2010I've had my MBP 13 inch (base model) for less than 4 months and I've been experiencing crazy dropped internet connection, both at my house and at my dorm. At my home, I have a 2WIRE portal modem and it drops at least 10-12 times a day and the only way I can reconnect is if I turn Airport Off and On. Same situation at my dorm , only thing is that I connect via wirelessly. Anyone have a solution to make this annoying dropping go away? My roommate has a Windows Vista Laptop (Gateway) and He has perfect connection and can play WoW and COD4 without lag or disconnection. My Windows XP Desktop (eMachine) and My Windows Vista PC (Dell Inspirion) are running on the same portal at home and they both are connected perfectly.

May 6, 2012I've iMac OS X Lion 10.7.3 latest version desktop. For couple of months, I'm dealing with dropping wifi connection during working. Every a few minutes, even during surfing though internet pages, wifi connection drops. When you look at the signal level etc.. everything is seems to be fine, but it is not possible to connect internet after close-open wifi. For a while, connection drop happens again.

Feb 8, 2012My iMac has just gotten all grumpy and weird with me, when attempting to browse anything on the internet (or even trying to access the router via 192.168.1.1) everything is ridiculously slow or just doesn't load. At first the speed went down dramatically - i went on speedtest.net and did a test, the page took a good 5 mins to load and after the test it turned out that i had a speed of 0.2 Mbps (my average speed on a good day is about 2.5 Mbps, shocking i know!) Ive tried turning the computer off and restarting it to no avail. Im doing this on my Macbook Pro which is sat next to the iMac and with a speed test is coming up with speed of about 2.2 Mbps, so its clearly the machine and not the internet/router. Ive tried using Safari, Chrome and Firefox they all provide the same, unusably slow responces.

Jan 1, 2010I have owned my mac for some time now. I have an IMAC 24" and a macbook 13" black. Have owned the Imac for nearly 2 years and macbook for about a year. Absolutely love them and i made the switch from windows for various reasons.
After switching our ISP to "talk talk" (UK) I have noticed that when a windows machine boots up and the wireless is detected my internet connection either drops or cuts out all together. Sometimes having to reset the router. This doesn't always work though. This happens when either an acer laptop running XP Pro or Asus laptop running vista connects.
Im not sure if this is to do with the isp or weather its something in the mac that i could resolve.
I have tried contacting them but usually put through to a call center in India or talk to someone with a strong Indian decent accent. I personally find it hard understanding them so prefer not to call as i feel im being rude constantly asking them to repeat. Also tried signing up to the talk talk forum but it ask for my home number and also a number we was issued with when we bought the package, and i for the life of me cant find it!
Has anyone else had this problem were he internet connection drops? It's fine if i have macbook and imac running at the same time but when the windows joins connection drops or just fails. If anyone else has had this please post.

Mar 28, 2012My iMac keeps dropping internet connection. This has only been a problem since installing Lion, it often tells me there is no connection when my iPhone and MacAir work perfectly so i know its not the broadband itself. I also get the message that my network configuration has changed.

Jul 6, 2012I have an iMac (without an Airport Base). It is connected to a Sky router through an Ethernet cable but still with wireless capabilities. The internet connection keeps dropping out at regular intervals throughout the day to the point that my partner may just throw it out the window! The router lights still show it is connected as does the wifi signal at the top of the screen. Our iPhones still work even when the Mac drops off.

Intel Mac :: Dropping Internet Connection Via Airport
Mar 19, 2012Since last week my iMac (Early 2009, OS 10.7.3) has been dropping its connection to the Internet. I'm using a router connected to an Airport Extreme and connect to it via WiFi. I tried connecting via Ethernet cable from modem to iMac but it would drop the connection entirely, which is why I had been connecting via WiFi. I have no problem with my other devices (iPad, iPhone and MacBook, this one with 10.7.2 installed), they connect immediately to the Internet and all, even the iMac, are able to connect to each other.Â
I already tried restaring the Airport Extreme, zapped the PRAM, reset the SMC, repaired permissions, disconnected the router and Airport from the power source and it still won't connect. Last time this happened, my iMac went to sleep and dropped the Internet connection after waking. I put it back to sleep and woke it using the power button as someone had suggested in another post, that helped and the connection was reestablished. This morning the iMac it was working fine, did not go to sleep at any time and suddenly dropped the connection, which I haven't been able to restore since.Â

Apr 14, 2012My iMac is connected to the internet wirelessly.
Every hour (or even more often), I get the message "Safari cannot connect to the Internet", followed by a prompt to run diagnostics. I run the diagnostics, re-select my network (provided via BT Hub) and pronto - the issue is fixed, by why does the connection drop so often. Surely this can't be right - I can't be doing that every time I want to go online. Â
Interestingly, my iPad (which uses the same network and Safari) never drops the connection, so it is something to do with the iMac.

I already check with my inet provider that my connection got no problem at all. But i felt that it is slow and the worse case again when back to my old windows notebook, i got no problem with the connection. The imac performance itself got no problem.

Over the last two day I have experienced extremely slow connection speeds and webpages have been taking forever to load. Jun 24, 2012I have a 27" iMac running OSX Lion 10.7.3. Some time in the last 2-3 weeks, it has started to getting into a state where the kernel_task is using 100% of one CPU constantly. When this happens, it also kills my Internet connection and I cannot use the browser, email, Skype, Twitter, etc. I have tried putting it to sleep, closing all programs that are open checked the process list with ps to see if I could find anything weird, but it still keeps happening.Â
I have to restart the computer whenever this happens. It might happen again in a couple of minutes or not for several hours, but happen it does. I thought it might be Chrome or Mail for a while, but it happened today when those were not running.Â
