there is a small chip behind the glass of my 27" imac. It's about the size of a small crumb or the eye of a small needle. It's hard to see, but it's definitely there. Today is my last day to get the imac replaced or repaired. I have a feeling if I bring it in that they will see there's no reason to swap out the entire imac, and if there is I would have to wait awhile because it's a custom high end one so they don't have the specsI'm worried if they swap the glass that it's just some 19 year old kid that does it and he won't be careful with the screen and will get dust, finger prints, etc. on the glass making it worse.

I've got a iMac 27" mid 2010.
I see since several months some shadows and spots on the top left corner of the screen. I've read in many threads that this is a known issue (defect I would say, since I never misused my iMac).Â
My question is:
is this defect recognized by Apple and do they fix it for free?

My Mac froze. I tried rebooting and now it won't boot past the blue screen. I have a mouse pointer and there is a small black circle with three smaller blue dots inside of it in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Clicking on it does nothing. I tried booting in safe mode but it wouldn't boot past the galaxy screen. Again, I had a mouse pointer but nothing more. I've tried booting from the OS disc that came with the computer. It sounds like the disc is running but nothing ever happens.

I turned my 2011 iMac on this morning but it never loaded past the startup screen. Eventually the Apple icon which is usually displayed on the screen turned into the broken folder symbol. I read some articles on how to fix this and tried resetting the NVRAM and PRAM, but that didn't work. I was going to try reinstalling OS X next, but putting the disc into the driver doesn't appear to do anything, and now I can't eject it.

Our eMac seems to be developing a green tint in the bottom right hand corner of its screen. I've done some quick searching online and it seems that a few people have suggested a cold boot so it runs the degaussing process on a startup.
I left the eMac off for about an hour, unplugged. It did the degauss once it was plugged back in and "seems" to have removed nearly all of the green tint.
There are a few threads on various forums when I search on Google about this issue but they have no conclusive reasons why this is happening.
Could my eMac be developing a fault at all? I'm not too sure if anything magnetic has been placed on our table near the eMac so this may be the reason.
I've had my mac for about three years now and everything was working fine. After I installed lion, I notice that this started to happen. I don't lose any of my information though when it does that. It just goes into a sleep mode I guess? Anyways, is this a feature from the lion update? Something standard?

I spilt soda on the lower corner of my screen, which then dribbled down to the black plastic. The macbook pro 13" unibody imemediately turned off, I disconnected teh power cable. I will wait to let it dry out. any prospects?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was watching a movie today, and noticed a dot on the screen. I scrubbed it hardcore, and it didn't go away. I freaked out because it might be a stuck pixel. After close observation, there are tiny extensions (probably its feet) around the 1-2 pixel size bug. I've taken a screen capture, but the bug is not displayed on it. Is it actually a bug? Should I take the glass off and exterminate the thing?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWell when I turn my screen off then I get a clearly visible 'thing' on my screen. The reason why I call it a 'thing' is because I have no idea what it is and how it got there. Can't I be something 'pitched' my screen and the back ledscreen cracked? Because I don't think dust can get behind the glass, both the behind screen and the glass have this "thing". It's luckily not big, may be 2 mm2. I got applecare so I guess apple will fix this for me? right? But it is kinda silly that ill have to lose my macbook for 3 weeks just for that little thing, but I'll have to because I can't clean it myself I guess.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased an iMac 21.5" recently and unfortunately it came with a dead pixel(black) and I can see some hot pixels, also. Can these hot pixels be dust though?
In top-middle part of the screen(where iSight is located) the glass that protects the screen actually has a gap. I mean, in the right and left parts the glass seem to be more stuck than in the middle part.
Actually I can even put my nail inside the glass and I suppose, it can be removed if a lot of pressure is applied. Are all iMacs supposed to be like that?
Maybe dust gets through there so that's why I see these "hot" pixels.
Do not tell me to remove the frame and clean it up, it's one day old. I just want to know if it is supposed to have that small gap on the top center part.
So today I noticed a small black bar on the corner of my screen. I tried to get a screen shot of it, but i couldn't, like it was off the screen. However, my mouse dissapears under it when i move it there. It is a little hard to distinguish because it is the 2.4 ghz macbook aluminum, glossy screen so it has the black surrounding it, but it is definably there. This all along the right hand edge of the screen.
Although there is a chance it may have always been there, I am not so sure. I think there are lines along the top and left hand sides, but they are much smaller. again it is hard to tell. I am fairly sure that there is none on the bottom of screen. Is this normal, or what? I have applecare, and I didn't do anything to my macbook. Although it is getting me a little OCDish, and is slightly annoying, and I know these things on the screen tend to expand.
I use my top right corner for flicking of my screen when I need to, really useful for saving energy in class and if I'm listening to music while travelling and sleeping.
The only thing that annoys me about it is, there's no option to set a key to wake the screen. I mean, when using it travelling or in bed, it would be great to use the volume and next/previous keys on my macbook keyboard without waking the screen. Maybe a terminal tweak to make it ignore a few keys, or having a specific key binded to wake the screen that anyone knows about?
y menu bar keep blinking in the left corner of my screen?

I wish I could take a picture of it, but every picture that I've taken so far has developed into a blurry hue. At, first, I thought the screen was just dirty, until upon closer examination did I discover that this little ******* is an ant. It's stuck between the glass and actual monitor directly below the Safari icon in the dock that I have left at the bottom of the screen. I have a feeling that it crawled in through the speakers on the bottom of the monitor, next to where the ram modules sit. I hope it's not planning to nest and start an entire colony on my i7 8GB iMac! That would suck.
View 16 Replies View RelatedSo I bought a Macbook Pro 15" i5 at the weekend and it arrived this morning. This is my first ever Mac, but I followed the battery calib etc., before playing. I turned it on, set everything up and found something that stood out like a sore thumb on the screen (and I'm always on white background forums/websites). At first I thought it was a dead/stuck pixel, called Apple and they told me to take it to an authorised dealer to do some tests on it. However, I turned the screen off and looked, and it's definitely a spec of dust under the glass! This is my first Mac and this is not a good experience so far. What were Apple's QC unit doing? Shall I take it to the AD to have a look at it, and what do you think they will do? Or shall I ring Apple again in the morning? It's currently 11:15pm here in UK. I bought it under Higher Education discount, so I guess if i return it for a refund, I won't be able to buy any other Pro?

Intel iMac Dual Core 2.4 GHz with wired Magic Mouse.
This just started happening a few days ago. My cursor randomly jumps to the upper left corner of the screen for no good reason. I've cleaned the optical sensor on the mouse.
I used a test account and it didn't happen there (although I probably should have given it a longer test). I'm wondering if it's a corrupted preferences issue, but I can't find any likely prefs to trash.
Suddenly stopped working. I have checked and changed my corners, but the start screen saver is not working. I've even tried changing my screen saver.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing 24 inch iMac (purchased a year and half ago). There seemed to be moisture forming in the lower right hand corner of the iMac screen (about 6 inches wide and 2 inches tall at worst). i have read that this seems to be a common problem. Had the iMac for about a year and half and never saw this issue though. Based on forum research, the recommendation was to turn on the AC to reduce humidity. Moisture definitely disappeared after 30 minutes, however I'm concerned it will happen again. I suppose I will bring it into Apple concered (although i would rather avoid dealing with it). Has anyone else experienced this?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am going to buy my first mac when they release the arrandale MBPs. I will get the 13", I was wondering about applecare, lets say I cracked my screen on the corner and I can see everything else fine, but not the corner, how would they fix it? Send me a new one, or change the screen? I guess, what I am trying to ask is, if I break it, but it is still usable; will they replace it or fix the broken part?

My daughter has dropped her ageing MBP, bent the screen lid and now the screen is no longer usable. We have other Macs available to access the data on the screen if we could turn on Screen Sharing on the damaged MBP running Snow Leopard.Â

I accidentally knocked over a glass of tea on to my Macbook, I cleaned it up and everything seemed fined. I packed it up put it in my bag I get home and now it has a white blotch (appears to be under the screen). I turned my Mac off and had it on it's side over night and it seemed to help a little but still very much there. Has anyone had this same problem? If so, is their a fix or is this something Apple should take care of?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was thinking about possibly selling my MacBook Pro and purchasing the 11.6-inch Air because I'm a college student who doesn't need much more than word processing, web browsing, iTunes, and portability. But I hear that the Airs don't have the glass covering of the Pro... Is the screen itself plastic or glass and does it scratch easily?
