Intel Mac :: Download AVCHD From Sony Handy-cam HDR Camera?
Apr 5, 2012
how to download AVCHD from my Sony Handycam HDR camera - I can get the camera recognized on the desktop but am unable to find it in iMovie (11) to import it?
Does anyone know how to import video from the Sony handycam DCR-DVD310 into imovie. None of the intstructions seem to work. The mac doesn't recognise the camera, and applecare don't know how to solve it.
I used to import movie clips from my sony handy camHDR-XR550V, but recently imovies doesnt detect it , but my mac detect the camera with no name, but in imovie it doesnot detect my camera and I am unable to import movies ..
I am desperate to get some HD AVCHD footage off my new(ish) camcorder on to my iMac.
Neither iMovie nor iMove 6HD can transcribe AVCHD so I recently bought Final Cut Express 4.0.
This package at least accesses the movies on the HDD on the camcorder, but when I use the Log and Transfer or Capture facilities Final Cut lets me select a clip but when it tries to transfer it the application just crashes.
How do I download video from a Sony NEX-VG10 Handycam? It says it wont download on a Mac, and to contact Apple. The odd thing is, that it has Registration for MAC.
I import clips from a flash memory drive (the one attached to Sony NX5U camera). The drive is connected with USB cable. All clips imported are fine except one. The problematic one is in the AVCHD category in the browser and has a little camera icon on the bottom left of it's thumbnail. I cannot share the project containing that clip (there is a message that says:''this Item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera''). What does that icon mean and how do I import the clip properly ? I tried importing the clip again and it does the same thing... Â
I'm trying to import sony fs-700 video into fcpx. I haven't had any problem until today. For some reason it just shows the file structure and the AVCHD video file and won't let me import.Â
I thought Image Capture worked with everything, but it is a disappointment to see it cannot read my AVCHD format from my camera.Nothing seems to work. Any ideas anyone before I run off to buy a card reader? I am on an old Mac Book Pro.
I just converted to a 2007 Macbook (wife's old comp) and was using Sony's PMB software with my PC (Windows XP SP2). I know that I can use iMovie '08 to import the files but they are HUGE. I assume it's because PMB imports in AVHCD format and iMovie uses .MOV? Is there another program I can use to import my files. I don't want to waste all my hard drive space importing a few movies.
I am new to the iMac so I did a very dumb thing today. I have a Sony camera that burns the pictures right into a small camera CD. Well, I put it into the iMac on the side and now, not only did it not read... I can't get it out! Did this every happen to anyone?
about 2 months ago i bought a sony dsc-hx5v.its a nice camera but..... when connecting to my mac Iphoto opens automatically like its supposed to but Imovie i have to manually open. Recently IMOVIE will not open the card and import any files. I am running the right version of imovie and my computer sees the stick on my desktop. i can open the stick manually and see files but i cant do anything with them. once i tried to reformat the stick in the camera and it worked ONCE. i have never had a problem with my previous sony products but this is just stupid. any ideas?
Bought new Mac Mini and have been using it for two weeks with no problem. Until now.
Plugged in my Sony camera which has worked with the old G4 Quicksilver for the last 4 years. iPhoto didn't open, so I checked Image Capture, which says "No device connected"... Checked leads, restarted etc, still the same.
Took the MemoryStick out of the camera and put it in a card reader and iPhoto opened immediately.
Swapped USB sockets. Checked System Profiler; no camera shows as connected.
Any suggestions as to how to get the Sony working again from its cradle? It seems to be connected in the cradle because it's charging OK.
I have a sony handy cam and it saves movies to a smart card. I can put the smart card in the Macbook and it will move them to ITunes but I cannot put them into IMovie. Is there a way to move them directly to IMovie from the USB port on the camera?
After unsuccessfully trying to troubleshoot some problems for my dad from half way round the world I thought I had better ask for some help!
He has a Canon digital camera and a Sony he uses for underwater shots. He imports all of the pics and movies from both cameras into iPhoto, and the movies from both cameras play fine out of iPhoto.
Recently he has decided to start editing them in iMovie 8, and here comes the bit where I'm not 100% sure what he has been doing, but I'll try to explain as best I can. When he first opened iMovie it imported all of the movies out of iPhoto that he had taken with the Canon, but not those from the Sony. If he tries to import them manually then when he finds the file in Finder it is greyed out so he can't select it for import. The files have the extension .mpeg, which I got him to change to mp4 in case it was something as simple as that, but no luck.
Is this something to do with Sony using a proprietary MPEG encoding? I thought that if it playe din one iLife app it would play in any of them, but it seems not!
How do I install software for a Sony DCR-SR68 video camera on my 2009 MacBook Pro? The manual that came with the camera says the software cannot be installed on "a Mackintosh", that I should contact Apple.
How do I connect my video camera (Sony FX1E) using Firewire cable to the MBP firewire port (which I see is Firewire 800). Is there a cable or adaptor for this?
I tried to capture the video camera (Sony Handycam 2007) on to my iMac and it wont open till I need to install the sofeware MPEG file so where can I easy to download the free software on internet?
Is it possible to change the default behaviour of wiki calendars to be hidden instead of visible. I have a wiki with a calendar with quite may calendars in it. The problem is that it gets very clotted when all event in all of them are shown. You can untick the box next to the calendar to hide it, but the problem is that this does not stay after a refresh or logout when viewing via a webbrowser. If I use the iCal client, a hidden calendar stays hidden (in iCal, not on web)
What I would like to do is change so "hidden" or "unchecked" is the default on the server.Â
On a client using iCal the setting for Checked or Unchecked is stored in :Â
user/Library/Calendars/C9BE5C0A-6EED-48D7-97F8-6DB02EA6A55A.calendar/Info.plist (your numbers will be different ) And the specific command in info.plist is:
<key>Checked</key>
<integer>1</integer>Â
As an alternative to change the default behaviour on the server for all calendars, changing this setting for each of the calendars would be possible if I only could find out how!?
What is the best software for converting AVCHD files to Mac? I can download off of my Canon Camcorder, but the file size is tremendous. 32 MBs in AVCHD converted into almost 500 MBs on my iMac.
We've been talking about this new behemoth from Sony in the Macbook Air forums as it's the same weight as an MBA (it's a premium ultraportable!) but the specs on it are so phenomenal that it'll surely take some beating even from an MBP update.Design: Aluminium + Carbon FiberWeight: 3.07lbs or 3.3lbs (depending on which Sony website you visit)Screen: 13.1", 1920 x 1080 Resolution CPU: Core i7-620M. 2.66GHz, 3.33GHz Turbo. 35W TDP. 4MB L2 CacheRAM: 8GB DDR3 SDD: 512GB (Raid 0 available)Graphics: Nvidia 330M GT 1GB GDDR3 and Intel HD integrated - switchable
