I want to change my GF's pic in Address Book. But I like the picture that's ther and I don't want to lose it completely. I figure it must be stored somewhere on the Mac where perhaps I could copy it before I do the replace. Does anybody know where I can find it?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt would be super quick and easy for me if I'm able to import my contacts from my Blackberry into my Address Book, but is it possible?
I mean, of course I could create my address book on my own and manually enter my contacts one by one... but with a couple hundred of them, it would be soo nice to somehow automate this process...
I have recently upgraded from OS X 10.6.x to 10.7.x.I did a manual migration of my user data as I found there was not enough granularity in the Migration Assistant, in terms of what does and does not get migrated over. One thing I have not figured out is where the custom Phone number formats are stored for Address Book. I have about 20+ phone number formats set up in preferences on my 10.6.x installation. I would like to bring them directly over to Address Book on the 10.7.x installation.Which file to I copy over?

Trying to get my MS Outlook Contacts onto my new MAC but for some reason the MAC address book will not recognize the .csv or .txt files that outlook generates in its Export process. I've opened the files in excel and in Numbers and they look fine - the MAC just doesn't like them for some reason.
View 4 Replies View RelatedNot so much for Apple Software update, but when re-installing OS X after sometime, smaller programs like Perian or firefox install, then come up with an update. I like to keep the install files for my programs handy, and the usual method is to find the developer site and download the newest version, but when it updates itself, it downloads the new version, then automatically launches it.
I'd like to know where it downloads to so I can just take that file and store it, rather than having to go to the site all and re-download it. I've looked around but can't seem to find any place that it would go, so I assume it's some hidden temp folder or something. I remember on Windows it was some temp folder in the Windows system folder (at least for the Service packs and other WindowsUpdate items).
I'm manually moving files to a new hard drive and need the files for Dreamweaver CS4 so I don't have to setup new sites again. Are they in the User > Library > etc...? Or System > Library > etc...? I tried copying the user library Dreamweaver files but it didn't work. Just to be clear I'm not talking about the individual files for my site, I need the preference files? Not sure what they are called, .plist? The ones that will restore Dreamweaver with the correct directories and stuff.

I am having trouble accessing files with my brothers MBP (running latest v of leopard) from an external HD (FAT32 format) plugged into my iMac (also running latest leopard.) I have tried logging in as myself on the MBP, but all that appears is my main hard disk and my home folder.
It's very important that I have access to this drive!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to locate an attachment file from a recently deleted message. The message is no longer in my trash, so I can't access the file through Mail. In the past, there was usually an archived copy somewhere on my hard drive, but it seems to have moved in my most recent update of Mac OSX. It used to be in the Library folder in my user folder, but now there is no Library folder in that location. Where do I find these files?

I have a hard drive that is in the process of dying and had to use Diskwarrior in order to rebuild the drive; luckily, it seems to have recovered my files.
I looked in Users/Library/Pictures to find my iPhoto Library file, however it doesn't seem to my newer photos that I imported into the library.
Is there a secondary/hidden location that the original files are stored in? Where exactly can I find them?
I had deleted my files from iTunes media folder, but as luckily I had the same files located in other place I just copied them to the iTunes Media but iTunes rejects to play them (in my iTunes Library). I'm only able to play them if I go through the procedure as followings: Play - "iTunes unable to open this file because the original file not found. Do you want to find it?" (or smith like that) - Find - Open and then it plays, but I have to perform these actions with every file separately and I have quite a lot of them. Oh, and after that first popping-up window the next one appears "Would you like iTunes to find other missing files from the same location as [the file's name]?" But when I click on "Find" it says "iTunes were unable to find other missing files". Why? How do I accomplish the same task but with all my albums at once without necessity to add them one by one? Does there some way exists to tie the tracks from my albums with original files without importing them to my iTunes library?

I recently upgraded to OS 10.7 and now can't find my Time Capsule under devices to access individual files stored on it. The system is recognizing it under time machine and is doing full backups to it, but only the backup portion is accessible through Finder. How do I get back to where I can pull up the contents of the Time Capsule on an individual basis?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHad a storm with a power flux and mac went down. Started it back the next day. Ran a first aid on the hard drive system first (all icons on desk top worked fine, showed all software installed, all documents, etc.) Everything checked out.
I have an Iomega external hard drive attached to use as back up. When I ran the first aid on that the system froze. I turned the computer off, waited and then rebooted. Everything came on again, but this time, my screen saver was the original one, not the one I use, all the added icons from the desk top bar were missing, back to the original ones loaded at time of purchase, all my documents are missing, as in everything except for my pictures on the hard drive, all the info stored on my desk top, everything GONE. NO sign of where anything went. The system seems to work fine as far as that goes, but there is none of the materials from the past 5 years of use. Can't even find my emails from Apple, nothing. That's all gone as well. Called up Apple support but because the warranty is no longer in effect, will have to pay for service. Am ready to do that if this fails.

I have this old iPod. It has a ton of good music on it and I like it a lot. The only problem is that the battery has worn down from years of use. The other problem (ok I lied about there only being one) is that my new MacBook does not have the music files that my iPod does. I heard it was illegal to take files from an mp3 and transfer them to computers. Is that even true? I would really like to copy the files from the iPod onto my new MacBook.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to transfer some files from my mac book to a pc on the same wireless network. I've made a folder on the PC and shared it, opened read and write privileges and everything.
My macbook pro sees this folder but for some reason can't see any of the files in it, and apparently can't put any files larger than a few kb in it. I've been trying to transfer some larger files, 7 gb, to the shared folder... which is on a drive with 422 gb of free space... it will start transferring the file and it will tell me "est time about an hour" then an hour later it will give me an error, saying the disk is full and cancel everything its just been trying to do for the last hour.
Is there some size limit to how much the macbook pro will let you transfer? What is the deal here? clearly the disk ISN'T full... 7 gb is not greater than 422 gb... I am very confused also to why I can't see any of the files that in the shared folder. Does anyone know what the problem is here?
i've been keeping all of my .ttf files but since i kept downloading new font, i find it a bit annoying to keep and manage it all. so i wonder if i can delete .ttf files after i installed it in font book. or will it gonna make the fonts crush if i deleted it ?
*what i meant not the .ttf files in system or library . but the one that i download from internet .
New 27 iMac (10.7.3) won't mount 3tb WD My Book. It worked fine for about a month and then suddenly said it wasn't ejected properly (it wasn't ejected at all). Now my iMac won't recognize the drive. It doesn't come up in disk utilities, it's invisible.
I think the issue may have started when I restarted my iMac. First the power of the external drive wouldn't come on and now that I resolved that I can't get it to mount.
