I've let my keyboard keys get grimy. They are disgusting. I don't think it's possible to follow Apple's recommendation (use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water) and get them clean.

I'd like to know where I can find the list of my register product on the apple website. Is there a clean page with all my products?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHas anyone else experience a problem with apple products, where it seems just over the year warrenty, your ipod, or mac starts to play up?
I bought a Macbook in September 2007, I was always extremely careful with it, only used it for home use (barely ever took it out to uni or friends), and used the disc drive only when putting cds onto itunes, or watching installing software. Yet, by December-January of 2008, the Disc drive was making funny noises, and stopped working. Again, I never overused it, nor did I underuse it, I was always careful with my macbook, and yet the drive just went. I can't afford to replace the drive, nor can I afford to purchase a new computer, so I've continued using it.
My ipod 120g, which I got for Christmas last year, has recently started to play up. It frequently freezes, sometimes doesn't show up on the computer, etc. Now for both of these products, the warrenty expired either days or a couple of months after these problems occured, so I have no help from apple.
My question is, has anyone else experienced this phenomenom? To me it seems almost as if Apple only design their products to last a year, expecting people to upgrade and thus fork out more money. Let me make this clear that I love using Mac OS x, it's pure quality, fast and efficient, but the hardware just doesn't match it's quality. I really wanted to continue to be a mac owner in the future, and yet, I refuse to fork out yearly for an upgrade.
I know there is the option of a 3 year warrenty with apple, but it costs an absolute bundle, $400 if I were to buy the $2000 (aussie dollars) macbook pro, so I won't be doing that. Also, I don't think it's ethical to expect your customers to fork out approx. 20% of the cost price for a guarentee that your machine won't break down for 2 extra years.
To me, Apple is, Apple has become, the Microsoft of the 21st Century.
I was just wondering how Apple announces new products. I'm waiting for some sort of announcement for the new MacBook Pro. If there's a conference soon then maybe that's when they will announce it? Or do they just do it on their website or something?
View 5 Replies View RelatedFirst off, I am sure to be VERY computer challenged compared to most of you. I apologize for that in advance. Here is the problem. We have been a PC based family for years and years. We just started to go Mac. My son got an iMac and my wife an iTouch. We have a wireless internet network in the house. The wireless is set up w/ Lynksis (I don't know if that makes a difference for my question.) I have connected to this network with more than one computer and more than one laptop. I have never had a problem. My son's iMac (airport) picks up the network and seems to be connected but can't do any more. It cannot connect to the internet. My wife's iTouch is the same. Our PC based computer and laptop will connect though. My son's iMac DOES, however, occasionally connect to the internet using the neighbors VERY weak signal. My wife's iTouch will connect on other networks (i.e. Panera Bread's) so I kno that works as well.

My husband has the system set up so the kids accounts are secured by NetNanny. We noticed tonight that the kids can't use Word, Excel or Powerpoint from their accounts.
You can only see it in my account. You can't see it in my husband's Administrator account. How do we change this? We'd like all users to be able to use the Office products.

I am currently using Apple Mail on Lion with IMAP enabled for emails. A couple of times I have had only part of an email downloaded. The full email is viewable on the iPhone and through a web browser. Is there anyway to resync an email to have it finish loading the message and attachments? I have tried to Sync the full Apple Mail program but the email did not change. I am assuming this problem is occurring when the internet loses the connection.

Through the years I've clicked this, over and over: "If you prefer not to receive commercial email from Apple, or if you've changed your email address, please click here." I'm trying to detect a pattern. I suspect that every time our family buys a new apple product we are hit with advertisements. I recently bought a new iPod Touch. I wonder if this is why the offer from apple to leave me alone fails, over and over.

Recently bought a new 13" Macbook Pro and really like it. I have one issue however, after setting up my Charter POP email account I can't send email, only receive it. I am positive the settings and password are correct. They are the same as on my PC and iPhone 4. My household also has an older white Macbook using a Charter POP email account running Mac OS X 10.5.8 without any problems.
I was reading something on the Internet where others are having this same issue and it may be due to Mac OS X 10.6.4. Some suggested changing the user name to my email address, but that didn't fix the issue for me.
I have an old mac that is running 10.4. I just bought a new Mac that is running 10.5. I have an external fire wire drive to back up to. Does anyone know of an easy way to migrate all my apps, email folders, settings, docs, etc...? I used to use retrospect express in the past when I have migrated from one comp to another because it was easy... backup complete volume to external drive... restore complete volume to new comp from external drive, but in this case I don't have that option because I bought the new comp on ebay and would like to keep the new operating system with all my stuff from my old comp. I can't seem to figure it out with backup.

If I go to the preferences/advance, it is simply not clear to me which option to choose. What I would like is to have a syncronized, up-to date view at all times. If I delete something here, I would like it to be deleted from the server as well.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought a macbook pro about 3-4 months ago. I posted before with problems, though it's getting much worse. Initially the "return" key stuck pretty badly. I brought it into the genius bar and they claimed they didn't feel it (it's very very obvious, they clearly just didn't want to deal with it).
Anyways, a month after that the computer began rattling. Ever once in a while it would make a prolonged and negative sound. When I pick it up nowdays it sometimes makes a suspicious sound as though something is moving freely inside.
And finally, another month later and two hours ago, the battery failed. It now only runs when plugged into the adapter, and its status is "service battery" in the little icon thing.
At this point I really feel the computer should be traded out; too much is going wrong for a mere fix (and the genius bar has been very stubborn with me in terms of admitting problems). So, symptoms in mind, do you think I should be able to trade in my mac, and how would I go about doing this?
are they released at relavively the same time (well quarter ) ?I'm in the uk, i was just wondering if we are far behind the US release dates
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy wife does a lot of online browsing/shopping on a number of different sites, and is having a odd issue. The first time it happened, I thought it was a fluke, but it just happened again today. The specific sites that the problem occurred on were forever21 and piperlime. What happens is that you can no longer click on individual products to see the product details page--it just takes you to a blank white screen. Also, the site (or Safari) doesn't let you add any products to your cart--you can click on "Add to cart", but it never actually puts the item in your cart; the cart remains empty. If I quit Safari (not just close the window), and reopen Safari and reload the site, all is well. I'm thinking this may be a Java or Flash issue - Running 10.6.4, Safari 5.0 and the latest version of Flash (10.1.53.64).
