In my sidebar menu, when I click on my the name of my computer, the "library" folder does not appear along with documents, downloads, music, etc. so in order to get into the mail downloads folder I have to do a search first. I think perhaps the library folder was moved or deleted by mistake, and I cannot figure out how to bring it back.

I recently had an external 500 gig Western Digital that stopped working. I took to store and had them transfer the data onto a new external portable hard drive (1.5 gig). At store they hooked up to Mac Book and showed me the files in the itunes folder, however when I connect the drive at home to my imac running tiger 10.4.6 none of the files are visible in the itunes folder.
All the other backup files are fine. And when I right click on iTunes folder >Get Info. It says zero kb in the folder. However I know the files are there because itunes is working and playing them fine. And when I search for a band and open the folder of say "pearl jam" folder it then magically shows just those sub folder for that group in the itunes folder. It seems that the files are definitely there I just can't view them.

I have manually backed up all my files under User folder without using any of system backup tool(due to technical issue, i have no other option rather than copying manually). I have erased all hard disk and would like to copy everything back to Macintosh. Then the problem is when I tried to copy old Library folder to Macintosh HD user folder, it is saying I need to input password to continue, then I entered password and it still says i don't have permission.

I have a hard drive on my 2008 MacPro that's problematic and so I bought a new drive and installed Mavericks on it and am booting just fine on the new drive. There is however, one folder in the Library/Preferences folder that I need to copy over to the new drive. All the tricks for accessing the Library folder work great on the start up drive, but I can't seem to access the Library folder on the old drive (both drives in the MacPro as it has 4 drive bays), even though the drive will mount. How can I see that Library folder on the old drive? Note while I can mount the old drive, I can't boot to it.Â

However I have seen it because after converting samples Logic showed me the folder and its contents. I would very much like to move the samples from their present location in this folder on the startup disk to the EXS 24 samples folder on the external RAID array that is dedicated to this purpose - - but I don't know how to make the Library folder visible.

On my MBP (10.5.5) different folders can remember their own settings like icon size and spacing, as well as file arrangement and sorting. But the view settings (icon, list, columns, cover flow) do not differ per folder... if you switch in one folder, every folder will have that view setting.
I changed the default folder view settings to increase the thumbnail size of the file in the folder, then I clicked the button to make these settings default. All was good until I opened another folder and the view was all "jacked". The folders were overlapping each other even when the screen was maximized, I have to right click and click on "Clean up" before the files jump back to normal. I tried to change the default setting back to normal but the folders are still messed up when I open new folders.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen we download new pictures in Windows and saved in a folder, we simply view it using Window Picture Viewer, scroll along and delete pictures we don't want. Easy and straight forward.
I did the same saving all new pictures in a folder. Then problem arrises:
1) When click the 1st picture to commence viewing, its not able to scroll to the next one. unlike Picture Viewer. So does it mean I have to open up individual pic, close, move cursor to next pic, open, delete unwanted pic, close, move cursor to next ....repeat....repeat.....one by one at a time. That is mind bogging absurd.
2) Then I use space bar and able to scroll forward. When reach the last pic of the row. it stop, Then I have to move cursor down and now scroll backwards. Seems very strange. Its kind of zig-zag manner. And after deleting pic, I have to start all over again instead of continuing from last pic. Again this is crazy.
I haven't really explore iphoto yet but don't tell me to use iphoto to do the job. That means I have to import photos from folder to iphoto and that is double job. Not forgetting there is no "cut and paste" function at right click mouse and that also means duplication.
Surely Mac is meant for graphics and there must be a much easier way than Window Picture Viewer, right?
I imported all of my photos to iPhone, great program. But when I go to my PICTURES folder under my user name in the finder, the only way to access the pictures is to open iPhoto. Is there a few to also have the files shown individually in my photos folder so I don't have to open iPhoto each time I want to view them?
View 24 Replies View RelatedI think os x is superior to Windows in almost every way but I do wish I could perform two simple actions the way Windows works.
The first is the ability to 'cut' and then paste files. If I want to move files to a different folder, I've got to open up another finder window and drag and drop.
And secondly (and most annoying) is switching folder views (icons, list etc). On Windows when you change the view of a folder, it automatically becomes the default view for that folder. In os x changing the view changes the global view across all folders, unless you apple-j and tick the 'always open in...' which would be a real hassle to do for every folder!
Is there any way to achieve these actions in os x?
If you click on your mac HD icon and go into the 'users' folder. Ther eis an icon with a house. This is what I think is called the 'home' folder. Usually, there is a folder in the 'Home' folder called 'Library' and I cant seem to locate it. Where did it go?

I don't believe anything has changed, as over the weekend all I did was connect to two wireless networks at my house.
I have no idea what's causing this, and it's making it difficult to retrieve files I need for certain projects.

Recently, I started to collect some old footage (videos) in my Movie folder, I even added some silly covers to them like Joe's birthday - 2009 etc., The thing is that even with the ICON set to 128x128 I still think it's a bit small, so whenever in this folder I like to use the CoverFlow view and all it's glory.
Now, here comes the tricky part, is there a way to force this folder to ALWAYS open in the CoverFlow view? I just want this particular folder to do this, the rest should open normally in the default view with their 48x48 icons.
How do I set my folders to display in list view instead of icon view consistently? I've tried the "open new windows in column view" option, but it still opens as icons.

The only way to get to it is to open Xcode 4, make a Cocoa application, build it, then right-click the target, then click "Show in finder. This is what the library folder looks like after I do that:

In VIEWING (to print) my iTunes music (in finder), how can i view subfolders without clicking on the triangle of each main folder?I am trying to print a list of all my music. View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been cleaning some stuff from my computer and noticed Microsoft folder in /Library/Fonts folder (not in my user Fonts folder). I figured it was from Office back when I installed it and the uninstalled it but it obviously didn't unistall these fonts. Many of the provided fonts are already available on the OSX so I figured it is safe to remove that folder. But it wasn't. Firefox lost all the text so I had to restore that folder and then everything was OK. Is it possible to remove link with that fonts and leave it to OS fonts?
