I was just wondering if (as described in the subject) has an answer? I am currently shopping for the "Final Cut" program and have heard that "Version 6" might not be compatibel with the "MAC OS X Lion 10.7" operating system.

I need to upgrade to Lion (currently running 10.6.8) to keep my email address and .mac syncing etc. I know other users have had a lot of problems with thier software after the upgrade. So do:
final cut 7.0.3
final draft 8.0.1
photoshop 12.0
work with Lion?
I have just made a teaser trailer in Final Cut Pro X. I have everything on my timeline completed but am a little unsure as to what to do next. i want to save it so i can use it on youtube and website.

I have an iMac with a 2.8 GHz intel core 2 Duo, 2GB 667 MHz SDRAM, and a 750 GB hard drive with over 400 GB of free space. I just purchased Final Cut Express 4 and when I uploaded my first clip and I tried to render it, it said that I have "insufficient disk space to render." I don't understand how this is possible, I may just have a setting messed up but I need step by step instructions to switch that setting
View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Lion and now I can no longer use Word and Final Draft? I had no idea these things would "no longer be supported". I read up on the upgrade and saw nothing on this. I didn't back up recently..

I am trying to get FCP6 to work on a couple of old laptops..One had no firewire port and the other was just old.I need to edit on a boat and was going to do so on the older laptops but it was just to time consuming. So I bought a 2012 mackbook pro. It was that or a 2010. I wanted to get something just a bit newer to last a few more years so I got the 2010 (Serial # CO2HMDYSDV33). It solves my firewire problem, and also has thunderbolt. I want to install FCP6.0.6  The Mackbook Pro has a fresh install of Mavericks. I have read that I cannot install Snow Leopard on this machine, so I am assuming that my only choice is Lion. I actually naively installed a Snow Leopard Disc.Â
So my research has told me that I can run FCP6 on lion after performing a few tricks. I just need to learn those tricks.Â
1. How do I install Lion on the Laptop.  I have learned it is a download.  Do I reformat the hard drive and then install it from another drive, or maybe another computer. It used to be so easy.Â
2. How to install FCP6 on Lion.Â
Super slow FCP 7.0.3 on an iMac ( 3.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3). The system seems to freeze up constantly when scrubbing through/playing/editing clips. Is there a better operating system to use FCP7 with than Mountain Lion?

I just purchased and received a new 15" MacBook Pro (non-retina) last week. I need to install Final Cut Studio 2 on this computer. I have researched this and found that I need to install Rosetta from the Snow Leopard DVD in order to do this. This is the first Mac I've bought ( although I've been working with them for years), so I don't have a Snow Leopard DVD. I am a high school teacher and we use FCS 2 for my classes so buying FCP X is not a viable option for me since I teach FCP 6. The iMacs we use in school run Leopard and were never upgraded to Snow Leopard (budget cuts and all), so I can't even borrow one from my district.Â

I would like to try the FCP but as I downloaded a trial version of it yesterday I was informed, during installing, that I need at least Mavericks to run it. Im on 10.8.5 Mountain Lion (on a 15"MBPR) and do not wish to upgrade OS. Is this possible?

With the impending demise of Mobile Me, I'll be making some changes. In order to utilize the full capabiliteis of new Mobile Me I'd need to upgrade to OS X.I have not yet done so because I have and use FCS 3 and Logic 9, both of which have been reported as having compatibility problems with Lion. I write to ask the status especially of compatibility between Lion and Logic 9. With sadness I understand that FCS 3 will never work with Lion, so I'll also ask of any FCS 3 users who have upgraded: what have you done to be able to work with your video created in FCS 3?

I am running a Intel Imac 2008 clean install SL then Lion upgrade, followed by Lion Server install.I have multiple home macs, and intnded the server as a way to monitor and restrict kids internet use.In short, it has changes/screwed up multiple programs, and complicated home sharing issues considerably. Mail on the server machine has permission problems (cannot send mail, unable to sign), Spotlight in mail is non-functioning, finder spotlight searches are inconsistent, etc.I want to revert to plain old Lion.
I have done disk utility/verify disk and verified/repaired permissions, and have 'fiddled' (i'm not an expert) in the keychain/certificates areas, but I think the best solution is a clean install of Lion. When I backup to TIme Machine, is there a way to pull a 'Lion' version of my disk image back, and just not upgrade to Server? I understand I can disable Server and turn off applications in Server, but it doesn't fix my buggy machine. My options are to back up my 250GB of music, 100GB of photos, 100GB of movies, etc on to external drives, and clean install and then reimport everything, but even that will probably mean I cant reinstall my single user licesnse of MS office, VMware fusion, etc that I didn't buy on the App store.

I am currently running version 10.7.4 from what I read and what I was able to make out from my serial number I wont be able to upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion as it says my imac is a late 2006 model.I am just curious if I am able to run Lion why Apple isnt supporting the older models that can? Seems odd to me and it is not in my budget to buy a new mac and my current one is running perfectly. I'm not sure how much I will miss out not having Mountain Lion.

My iMac is fairly old -- 2006 -- and many of the important programs I use, plus my beloved Bose external speakers, are completely inaccessible. I'd like to uninstall it and go back to Snow Leopard. Is it as simple as inserting the disk and reinstalling? How do I get RID of Lion.

I have a 24'' Imac 3.06Ghz - 4Gb RAM - NVidia 8800GS video card It has been freezing since last month without any logic pattern.Reviewing the logs I supposed it was the memory card, because after the halts I found Nvidia error messages.Â
I ran Apple Hardware Test to find the error but it told me that was a phisical harddrive error, so I've replaced it with a new 2TB WD Drive and made a fresh install of Lion. Freezing again. I ran Techtool Pro 6 and does not show any errors.Â
