This evening, quite suddenly, a gray (or black, depending on what's on the screen) vertical line has appeared across my imac screen, about a quarter of the way up from the bottom. Above that are some are three, much lighter lines (more like subtle variations or blocks of colour running across the screen). These appear on all windows I open. I took a screen shot using grab and the very definite gray line doesn't appear.
I have a new MacBook Pro (A1286) 2.66Ghz which is just over two weeks old. Whilst watching a video on YouTube a horizontal line appeared across the screen. I tried rebooting, however, the line was still present. I have tried switching between the 9400/9600 and the line is still visible.
The line is still there when I boot the laptop into Windows, does it look like I have a faulty GPU/logicboard on my brand new MacBook?
I've just noticed two small marks in the lower right-hand corner of my iMac's screen: a tiny horizontal line to the right of a dot. I can see them when I restart the computer, but not when the wallpaper is on the screen. Clear Screen won't remove them, but they don't seem to be scratches either, partly because I can't feel them. Do you think they're dust specks or something like them tat somehow got behind the screen? I hope there's a safe way to remove them because I hate to see them.
A horizontal line appears in any application (iTunes, VLC, Quicktime) when I enter full screen mode. Out of nowhere it appeared about 2 weeks ago. Not sure how to get rid of this or how it came about?
my MacBook pro display that there are frequently horizontal grey lines going across my screen. I've noticed it mostly when the display color should be grey or white, but that's not always the case. It occurs mostly in my Google search bar using Firefox, and also occurs heavily on Facebook in the comments/reply section of a post. Outside of the browser I've also seen it when looking through some personal photos, especially of the sky, the lines will seem to sort of outline different contrasts in white or light tones, kind of like the Magic Wand tool would do in Photoshop. The lines do flicker and change when scrolling.I attempted to snap a photo with my iPhone the best I could.Â
My specs:
-13" Macbook Pro (2009) -Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz -NVIDIA GeForce 9400M -Resolution: 1280x800, 32-bit ColorÂ
My macbook air has randomly developed an issue with its display. Occasionally, when t's already running, a grayish/white line runs vertically towards the middle of the screen. It's about an inch thick. The computer will still run as normal, you just can't see the part of the screen being covered by the line. When I restart my mac line goes away. It randomly comes back again and the process starts all over.
My wife's bluetooth just disappeared. The Bluetooth symbol on the menu bar is gray with a wavy line. Ran out and got a bluetooth adapter and it still isn't recognized. Bluetooth was working great last night. Not sure what my wife did.Â
I have a white line in the display where I also have my dock. So it's not always on the same Display. You can see a few pictures attached that show you that this line is some kind of weird. Windows that are always in the front like "About my Mac" are over this line and if I open all windows of one program I get three of those lines.
The lines are here since I updated my MacBook to the newest firmware.
when I start up in Safe Mode and only in Safe Mode in my iMac (mid 2011- HD 6970M 2048 MB) appears white horizontal lines. I changed already the graphic card almost before a year.
Info: iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)
when I woke my pbook up the screen had a horizontal line across it, and below that there is doubling and tripling of the screen image going on. Rebooting didn't accomplish anything and when I take a screenshot it doesn't show up there. I have a 12" Powerbook G4, running os 10.4.11.
i recently bought a 13"retina display macbook pro. It is so disappointing. There is a horizontal line that appears on the screen and disappears. This was for the third time i had to face the same issue. When i explain to the staff at the apple store they say that they have not come across such issue, for which i showed a proof from the other part of the world.
I purchased a late 2006 intel core duo iMac 20'' with an upgrade to os Lion. I've been using it for less than 24 hours, and it has managed to freeze up on me twice, with a followed appearance of pixel abnormalities, horizontal lines, etc. I did my research and it seems to be a graphics card problem, which is a Raedon ati x1600 ,256 mb.
Info: iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.3), Late '06 iMac/2.16ghzICD/2gb
Anyone think this is a good deal? http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MacBook-MB003LL-Laptop-Processor/dp/B0006HU4DK/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227225131&sr=8-1. I bought the Rev B, but had to return it because of 5 dead pixels in the center and the horizontal line issue. I am thinking of saving over $1,000 by getting the above. It is new/in box and from amazon. This is the best deal I have seen. It is even cheaper than the refurb models at apple.com.
I have an 2008 iMac that displays a gray screen. I cannot get rid of it. I have done a forced shut down but it wakes up when a key is depressed. I have turned off the power. It will chime but a gray screen, not a spinning wheel or anything else. I was told it might be VMWare Fusion at fault so I uninstalled the program a month or so ago. It was fine until a few days ago. Has the display panel died? If so, is this a dyi or should I pay $$$ to repair it.Â
I have had my imac for a good number of years now without any issues. Fantastic piece of computer equipment. Recently a blue pixel line appeared to the right side of the display.Â
bought a new i mac and while using had a gray screen scroll down slowly and then said I had to restart the computer it is now happening more ofter and do not know what is causing it
While working on the computer, sometimes the screen will turn gray (from top to bottom) and a message will appear saying the computer must be restarted. So far the local Apple store has not been able to find the problem. The last solution the store tried was to replace the Airport Card, but that didn't work. Computer was purchased in December 2011.
I have an iMac G5 stuck on the gray screen with spinning gear. I woke up to it being stuck on a blue screen, then force quit and now it's stuck on gray with spinning gear.
Unfortunately I bumped the switch on the power strip that my Mac Mini (1.42ghz G4, OS X 10.3) is plugged into while it was running. Now it won't boot up. All I get is the gray screen with the gray apple logo and the spinning wheel but no OSX.
