Feb 19, 2012I typed a "page", saved it to "documents" and later found an error which I corrected. I then tried to email the corrected "page" and I cannot do it. I found this to be true other times--every time I save a page to documents and retrieve it, I no longer can share it via email.

Feb 4, 2012I am unable to save documents created on Pages and Textedit on my main "Macintosh HD" after the first save. If I create a document, save it then edit it and try to save again it comes up with  "This document "test" could not be saved" No extra info other than that message.Â
If I try to save onto my second drive, " Macintosh HD 2" (the non-boot drive) it works fine. Â
I have
1/ checked read and write permissions and my Macintosh HD and they are set for "read & write"
2/ I have repaired disk premissions using Disc Utilities to no avail
3/ booted using Cmd - R and used terminal and applied "reset home directory permissions and ACL's" to no avail.Â

OS X :: Sort By The Date A File Is Placed Into A Folder (Date Modified/Created Not Working)
Jun 3, 2010I have a folder where I place an ever growing collection of my favorite songs. Before I switched to Mac, on Windows, when I wanted to revisit songs I most recently added to the folder, I would sort the songs by the Date Modified and it would order the files I placed in the folder by date.
In OSX, however, there must be a slightly different meaning to "Date Modified," as it does not quite sort my songs by the order they were added. It gets some of it right, but there's plenty of files that are out of order--tune "x", which I know was placed in the folder a week ago is actually listed further down the list with songs placed in the folder months ago.
Is there a way to have OSX sort files in order of the date it was placed in a folder? Neither "Date Modified" nor "Date Created" works 100% as I thought it would. Or is the OSX definition of Date Modified/Created slightly different than Windows?

Feb 7, 2007I've noticed recently that when in Finder, all folders/files have a Modified Date of somewhere in January 2009 or January 2008, regardless of when it was actually modified/created. My clock at the top left-hand corner says Oct 20 though. Any thoughts?

When I go to System Preferences > Language & Text > Formats I can set different formats. I have no idea where you will see these, but I know that it's not the top bar where the time and date is being displayed. Because no matter what I enter, the format in the top bar will stay the same. I can only choose things like 24-Hour clock or not, blinking dots and so on in the Time & Date settings from the System Preferences.Â

Intel Mac :: Keeps Crashing - Cleared Junk Files And Filters Are Up To Date
May 1, 2012I've tried to troubleshoot this before. I've backed everything up on Time Machine, did an Erase/Install. Purchased MacKeeper. I restarted computer pressing shift key, then restarted computer to clear out any accumulated junk files. I've been running Virus Barrier for more than a year, and all filters are up to date. But it's getting worse! It used to happen once a day...today it happened 3 times. I thought it might be related to Chrome, but this morning, all I had open was Mail...
This is what happens: In whatever application I'm in, usually Chrome, after some action, sometimes just loading page, the rainbow time spinning wheel appears. Spotify stops playing music (though there is not window warning that I've gone offline or anything like that); I wait, wheel keeps going, I clicked on other open applications, they appear fine, go back to application with spinning wheel. I open force quit; I force quit application, it appears to quit, but then everything becomes unresponsive.
Eventually I try to force quit all other applications, they appear to close, but don't really, then Finder becomes unresponsive, I try to Relaunch Finder, until I only can stare at empty desktop. The only thing that works is pressing button at back of computer to force it to shut down and restart. From past personal experience both at work and at home (am a designer, so always use Macs)...a computer that keeps crashing this way, eventually becomes damaged and has to be brought to store for repairs. This computer is only 2yrs old.

Apr 10, 2012I just installed (myself) an Intel 120GB SSD into my 2011 iMac (3.4Ghz Quad-Core, 16GB RAM, 1TB HDD). I kept the HDD.Â
I run Logic Pro 9 and have around 200GB of additional sample plugins (VSL Solo Strings, Ivory Grand Pianos, Superior Drummer, etc..) and
I want to know how I can successfully transfer the Apps (Logic, Sibelius, Pages, iTunes, etc...) onto my new SSD while keeping the plugins on my HDD and using them simultaneously. Â
p.s. since some of the apps require registration, I cannot simply drag them to my SSD from the HDD and expect them to work. I get an error.

Jun 25, 2012my imac running 10.5.8 will not print some pdf documents properly. In particular sheet music will only print as horizontal and vertical lines - the symbols and notes do not print. The 'print preview' shows all the symbols and notation correctly.Â
This occurs in both Adobe Acrobat (v10.1.3) and Preview (v 4.2 - 469.5).Â
Printer in use is a HP 2600n connected via USB cable.
