Jun 25, 2012Whenever I place a disc in the drive it spits it out. No matter what disc. I've tried restarting but that didn't work. Just bought this 27" iMac about 2 years ago. I cost me around 2 grand with tax and some stuff the salesmen sold me to go with it like MIcrosoft office. If the drive broke after only 2 years (and I've only used it maybe 10 times in all that time) then I will prob be asking for my money back. I already know that apple will charge me out the @$$ to get it fixed if the drive is broke. I am just hoping that there is something going on software wise that can be fixed. Please help if you have any information reguarding this issue. This is a problem that is holding me back from doing work (a client sent me information via cd) So I am loosing money every day that I do not have my drive working.Â

OS X :: Lost Discs - Install Discs From The Computer
Mar 10, 2009I came home for vacation and decided to reformat my imac g5 to get a fresh start. I backed up all my files, took out my leopard retail box, and was ready to go when I opened up the box, and noticed no disc. I have no idea where it went.I have the install discs from the computer when i got it, but it only has 10.4, so id rather not use them. I have the install discs from my macbook pro with 10.5, but I am pretty sure it will not work.So does anyone have any suggestions? Should I just go ahead and install 10.4 until and then just install 10.5 when i find it? (i really hate doing this, I hate having more than one version of an os installed)

Jun 8, 2012My dvd player has suddenly stopped accepting discs. The disc only goes in half way before it hits something, almost like there was a disc already in there, but there isn't.The previous disc was ejected. Restarting doesn't change anything. It may be that the disc drive itself needs to be replaced, but that would involve a lot of hassle.

I tried reinstalling Lion with the built in recovery, but it did not wipe HD clean. I know I need to erase the HD in Disc Utility, but then I won't have a way to reinstall Lion.

Jun 6, 2012I have a 24" iMac (A1225). I can boot to non-Apple discs (utilities, Windows) and I can even install Windows without any problems. I can't boot to any OS X Install disc however. I have the original 10.5 discs, they don't boot. I have a 10.7 disc that does the same. It starts to boot and makes encouraging noises for a bit but eventually both discs spin down with the Apple logo and the spinning circle which stops.Â
Just for shiggles I tried to boot a couple of custom OSx86 discs (10.6.3 and 10.6.6). They both booted to the installer. 10.6.3 started installing (crashed half-way) but started to boot from the HDD after I restarted it (it didn't go anywhere of course, just the Apple logo). 10.6.6 finished installing but wouldn't boot after it restarted.Â
It seems like there's a hardware issue but the fact that I can boot non-Apple discs and even install Windows without issue makes me doubt that. I have also cleared the PRAM (Option-Command-PR) and ran a quick test in AHT (D) without issues.Â

May 13, 2012I have a CD in there, but iTunes thinks there is none, and is asking me to inset a blank CD to burn a playlist. Itried restarting while holding down the mouse button, but had nothing ejected. What are some other ways to eject a CD? The eject key doesn't do anything, nor does command-E.

Jan 31, 2012Almost from the beginning my Magic Mouse periodically got stuck in right click mode. I could usually get it out of it by opening preferences and unchecking the right click mode and then clicking a few times and then choosing it again. BUT in the last week it has happened more and more and the only way I've gotten it out of the mode is to restart. VERY annoying. The computer is just over 3 months old, actually 3 days over the 90 day telephone support period. I called and got the following advice: buy an extended coverage plan or take it to an authorized Apple store to see someone at the Genius Bar. Well, the closest Apple store to me is 120 miles and has no Genius bar and since this is an intermittent problem I don't see how they can do anything. What I am going to do right now is put it away and get out my Logitech wireless and hook it up and forgo the luxury of scrolling with my Magic Mouse..

Mar 29, 2012I have been trying to install mpkg files. All the packages use authentication while installing. The system doesnt do anything after authenticating. I have tried it with all the installers. Somehow the screen gets stuck at authenticating. After authenticating, it does nothing. I am not able to add new user accounts as well. The same thing happens with authentication. Each time, it asks for password and then does nothing. I am not even able to unlock the System Preferences.

Apr 18, 2012everytime I try to boot my iMac it gets stuck at the first grey screen. No logo, no loader, nothing but a grey screen. I have tried everything here > http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570 > with no results. The grey screen remains there, with no changes. The only thing that seems to work, but only for a seconds, is holding the option (alt) key at startup. After a few seconds, the pointer of the mouse appears.

Jun 6, 2012Ok so i yesterday, i wanted to learn computer programming so i decided to download Xcode for mac (The latest one for snow leopard) Everything went fine and a little error pops up during the installation saying something about needing to reinstall soundflower(or something similar to soundflower) I ignored it and everything went fine, i could use Xcode without any errors. Today (after my dad and my sister used the iMac) the Mac went laggy with the rainbow spinning thing. I restarted my computer and now i am stuck on apple logo. I went to the verbose mode and this is what i've found.

There was a line saying systemShutdown false between the errors and the errors is still continuing.
I also tried holding shift for the safemode but it just went into restart loop until i let go the shift button
