View 3 RepliesI've transfered thousands of CD's into my itunes library on my desktop G5. Sadly as this is a pre OS X 10.5 i cant easily transfer this library to my other mobile devices ie macbook, iphone ,ipod etc all of which are much newer. This has created a situation where my collection is fragmented.best way to get it all sync'd up and available on all devices.
Info:iPad 2, iOS 5.1
I am using iCloud for my contacts but for some reason I have contacts that show up on my Mac but not on my mobile nor on my iPad.But if I delete a contact on one of my device it does get deleted on all of my other devices, same if I edit one contact.

My iPad [1] IOS 5 has a number of duplicate addresses, but does NOT include *all* my Contacts from my Mac. My Mac is OSX 10.7.  I have selected iCloud as my storage, not 'my computer'I have tried deleting the iPad Contacts [iCloud>slider 'off'] but when I return the slider to 'on' the Contacts are repopulated, but with all the same duplicates and omissions as before. I have allowed a time delay; tried restarting the computer; nothing makes any difference. I am reduced to sending myself emails containing the missing addresses! In additon to the above... Pt2: the duplicates in iPad Contacts have more - eg repeating the Home address - or sometimes less, information. and if I add a name to a Group, there is immediately a duplicate entry created in the main address list [I could have >8 duplicated entries for one name if added to several group mailings] Deleting duplicates is pointless, as they reappear.

How to import AudioBooks from Macbook OS 10.4.1 onto an Ipad2?Â
I have many audiobooks which I am currently attempting to have re-loaded via the Apple Support network and have requested that these Audiobooks purchased in good faith between 2008 - 2009 be made available for download on our recently purchased Ipad2 via ITunes. This download procedure has worked very well for the 18 songs purchased in the same period. However, I have followed a discussion on the Apple Support community by TASA posted on the Nov 13 2011 and have made a similar polite request to the Apple Support afficionados, so far with no success. My question is this How can i transfer the Audiobook files which appear as m4b across to the Ipad2. I cannot sync the MacBook because the operating system is a mismatch. Attempting to use a camera connection kit by Apple and using an SD card to copy a single audi file has not worked. What other recourse of action is there?Â
It is all very well suggesting that Audiobooks can only be downloaded once, as has been mentioned by a discussion pundit. However this was not in the Terms and Conditions from 2008, of which I have a copy.

I am using an iPad2: I used to sync all my contents to my iPad with my Windows Vista Laptop through iTunes till a couple of days back. Somehow, i managed to poof up my Windows Vista Laptop. I have replaced this Windows Laptop with a MacBook Air.
I now need to sync my iPad with my Mac air.
Coming to the contents.
I have loaded a substantial amount of content on my iPad: Music, Videos, Podcasts, Books (eBooks and PDFs), Apps and Photos.I have backups of my Music, Video and Photos on an external HDD (FAT32): so getting this material over to iTunes on Mac Air is no problem.Perhaps Apps would also get loaded on iTunes on Mac Air through iTune Store. My challange is how to get my Books (eBooks and PDFs) from my iPad to my Mac Air. The same challange stays for the Podcasts.
Info:MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.4), Also involves iTunes
Ok so I got my new MBA which I'm typing on right now and I love it (I need to update my sig...). I got my most important data over, but all I need are my address book contacts and iTunes playlists and song/movie/tv show ratings.
I copied my contacts from Application Support under Libraries. They are under Address Book in the folders "Metadata" and "Images". All the things in Metadata seem to be vCards, but when I double click one to open it, it just opens Address Book and nothing happens.
Also, when I transferred my iTunes stuff over, everything's perfect except I'm missing all my song and album ratings (488 albums and 4226 songs, all hand-rated). I'm also missing my playlists which are VERY important.
I have a backup of my whole hard drive from my MBP so I should be able to access these files, but does anyone know how or where? I copied over my whole music folder in Finder and I'm still missing my playlists and ratings
I have some avi files that I want to watch on my iPad. I have tried the following:
1) Used MPEG Streamclip and converted a file from .avi to MP4
2) When I try and drag it into ITunes nothing happens
What I really want to do is get the files from my MacBook to my iPad
will iPad apps like Solar System run on Macbook air?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have one, perhaps two or more problems here. I need more info to even know, but I have a few hundred songs imported from my CD collection into my macbook pro itunes application. Â
I now also have an ipad-1 which I inherited from my wife. It makes me wait 90 days to sync from the cloud my "purchased" music, but, putting that aside, what about my songs I purchased outside of itunes and imported into itunes? I don't seem to be able to copy and paste them into my ipad when it is connected to my macbook.Â
I am not being able to sync my iPad, after having been using it for more than a year now! I had been syncing my iPad2 with iTunes on my Windows Vista machine. After my Windows Vista Laptop crashed, I replaced it with a Macbook Air 128GB (MBA). Since hard disk space on the MBA is at a premium, I transferred my iTunes Media Library to a 64 GB USB drive.
Now I tried to sync my iPad with iTunes on my MBA. iTunes on MBA saw my iPad: sync started: backing up completed without any hitch: and then came the error message "The iPad 'Rishav's iPad' cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the selected items (additional 7.88 GB required)". I checked the available memory on my MBA, USB and iPad.
Details:
a. HDD of MBA: 86.6 GB out of 120.47 GB Free.
b. USB Drive where iTunes Media Library is located: 39.93 GB out of 64 GB Available.
c. iPad 2: 7.7 GB out of 58.1 GB Available.
Despite this availability of free memory, the sync is not going through. The memory utilization within my iPad, as seen graphically on iTunes on my MBA (when iPad is connected to MBA) is as follows:
a. Audio: 8.10 GB
b. Video: 7.30 GB
c. Photos: 7.50 GB
d. Apps: 14.00 GB
e. Books: 1.01 GB
f. Others: 2.60 GB
g. Free: 17.94 GB
How I can carry out my sync.

So I already had an iPad mini which was synced to an iTunes account on a Dell laptop running Windows. However, the laptop which it was synced to broke down and I am unable to switch it on so I decided to purchase a 2014 MacBook Pro Retina, which I received a couple of days ago.Â
I set up the laptop and I created an iTunes account with the same Apple ID as my iPad.
I then purchased a couple of songs on that iTunes account. I then tried to sync the music from my iPad to my new library and visa-versa, but I got the message warning me that it would erase all of the songs on my iPad.Â
How would I be able to transfer the purchases from my iPad to the library without losing anything?Â
Info:
MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)
I have tried everything to transfer the purchased music on my iPad to my macbook. It simply won't transfer.

I've been syncing my devices for years, but after I updated to iTunes 10.6 then attempted to sync my iPhone 4, iTunes aborts and does not complete the sync. I tried my iPad as well with exactly the same results. So, I expect that something has begun corrupted in iTunes and I tried to revert to the previous version of iTunes with Time machine, but the Mac reported that I cannot remove iTunes. It could be a library that is corrupt or a cache of some sort, but I can't tell.Â
View 2 Replies View RelatedDid a search about synchronizing and the existing threads are a bit old, so I'd like to reopen the discussion. Here's the situation: I would like to have a setup where my Macbook Pro is completely in sync with my Mac Mini. Emails, files, settings, favorites, etc. Ideally, I want complete transparency in that I can work on stuff on my laptop, shut it down, come home and sit down at my Mini and be completely ready to continue working.

It meant that I could change, delete files on either and when I ran Sync Toy it would update both ways - was truly great. Is there something similar (or better) for my MacBook Pro running OS 10.7?
